Le pr矇sent opus entra簾ne le lecteur dans l'univers 矇ducatif de l'Afrique francophone o羅 l'矇cole est pr矇sent矇e, ? tort ou ? raison, comme "le plus grand voleur de tous les temps". C矇dric, personnage principal du roman, est proclam矇 premier intellectuel de la contr矇e par son p癡re alors qu'il n'矇tait qu'au cours moyens 2 et n'avait encore obtenu aucun dipl繫me. Comment expliquer ce paradoxe dans un contexte o羅 les parents, les enseignants et l'Etat font croire aux 矇l癡ves que la bonne moyenne est l'unique indicateur d'un avenir radieux, au point o羅 beaucoup se retrouvent en train de truander, de corrompre les enseignants, de leur livrer leur corps pour obtenir des bonnes notes qui, non seulement ne refl癡tent nullement leur niveau r矇el d'apprentissage, mais surtout ne leur garantissent aucun avenir radieux comme on le leur miroite ? Ce roman essaye de montrer comment le cancre ? l'矇cole peut 礙tre un g矇nie des affaires. Le lecteur, parent et apprenant surtout, en retiendra que seul ce que l'on y acqui癡re comme connaissances et y d矇veloppe comme comp矇tences doit avoir plus d'importance. Si la note s'y ajoute, ce ne sera que la cr癡me de la tarte.
