Brain Function and Dysfunction
Alzheimer's Disease is rapidly increasing in prevalence. This pandemic of the post-industrial age wreaks havoc on the elderly people (some as young as 40), particularly in the richer and more powerful nations. With only a few weak hypotheses, its cause is not understood; all proposed medicines have either failed clinical trials or proven ineffective. In this book, I lay out a new, relatively stronger and more broad-based theory of dementia causation, exploring beyond Matsuyama's 1989 theory that held pervasive Microtubule collapse to be a key characteristic of dementia. In brief: Psychological functions are carried out by neurocircuits containing myriads of Dopaminergic and Norepic systems; due to excessive electrical signalling in "dopamine-heavy" types of brains -- the signal conducting micro-tubules break down, causing the neuronal collapse which characterizes dementia. More the signalling volume, more the stress (either mechanical and/or thermal and/or chemical stress), which proves fatal in the end.

It is something to sink your metaphysical teeth into. It covers the relationships between Matter, Energy and Mentality, using Energy Redistribution (Unnecessary Action) as a common feature in the Universe. The book should appeal, especially, to those of a mathematical bent, where a number of descriptive equations are presented in an attempt to describe certain elusive aspects of Reality. The book also includes some more-detailed sections, which consider the relationships between Information and Entropy in various Systems.
The long unwinding road
Before you get the wrong idea, may I say that this is not explicitly a book about Parkinson's. There is a whole bundle more stuff in it than that. Parkinson's is a theme certainly - I have Parkinson's and with the best will in the world it's hard to shake off its influence on my daily life. But the book goes much beyond there. I have divided the book broadly into three years. This is mainly to give a context to some of the more ephemeral pieces that would otherwise not make sense such as the piece on Brexit in 2016. That probably gives you also a clear understanding that there will be some politics amongst the pieces. Don't be put off. I have balanced it with other less knuckle whitening subjects. There is also a distinct whiff of nostalgia in some of the pieces as I recall my Yorkshire roots. And as if that was not enough on its own, I've even treated you, dear reader, to some of my thoughts on Wagner's music. You lucky people.

What Is Time? What Is the Origin of Time and the Sense of Duration?
The cosmos itself is not governed or regulated by time but by chance, so cosmology can never appear consistently logical. Time and regulation are human concepts. The 'points and instants' notion is no longer credible. Points are our basic intellectual tools since the instants arise through moving from point to point, making time discrete. A.N. Whitehead's definition of time as "a sequence of non-interacting moments" is credible. Russell also said "There is no longer a universal time..." And Professor Eddington observed that time does not 'flow'. The Minkowski 4-D geometry is seen as plainly false, and so time travel is impossible. There are no days in nature at all. There is only one constant day. All existence is daylight. The nights are freakish and irrelevant. The earth's rotations are just flippant shadows over reality. Nothing in astronomy happens only by night and not by day. Logically deduced, time appears to be human and we can solve the problem of how it passes by, too."

G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) represent a versatile family of plasma membrane receptors that elicit downstream intracellular signaling events.
