Turkey Tails and Tales from Across the USA - Volume 4
In the sport of turkey hunting, there are certain accomplishments which point towards just how fervently a person pursues the wiliest and most cunning game bird in America. One such feat is the taking of a gobbler in all 49 states holding springtime seasons (only Alaska does not), and that's called a U.S. Super Slam. A number of elite hunters have achieved one, while a rapidly growing population is currently trying to join the club. None can match Tom "Doc" Weddle's four, and besides that, he has only two states remaining for an unheard of fifth! This book details the years 2007-2018, as gleaned from Doc's daily hunting journal and camera. Fellow hunters who thrill to the magic found in the turkey woods will most surely find common ground and lots of entertainment in reading of this man's many adventures. As his three previous books have shown, Doc is not "normal." He has designed a life centered around turkey hunting for three months straight every year, and nothing else matters besides that one singularly-focused goal. He spends almost all of that time hunting on public lands. While Doc's vast accomplishments might hint otherwise, the only numbers that he really cares about are the tally of days spent listening to the melodious notes of tom turkeys gobbling in every type of habitat where they can be found. Life is short, and a day of spring not spent out in the turkey woods is a day wasted. The author's battle cry of, "Don't let them pass you by" should be advice heeded by all of us!
Thousand-Mile Summer
Take An Epic Walk with the Master of Backcountry TrekkingIn The Thousand Mile Summer, author and adventurer Colin Fletcher embarks on foot to explore the eastern edge of California from the Mexican border to the Oregon line. A native Welshman new to America in 1958, Fletcher awoke one night in his San Francisco apartment with a burning desire to walk from one end of California to the other. He began his sojourn along the Colorado River, continuing through the Mojave Desert and Death Valley, and on to the High Sierra Mountains in the north. The author chronicles his six-month trek with vivid portrayals of the landscape and the people he encounters, and, in the telling, relates as much about himself and his quest to experience a life without attachments. As with his subsequent work, The Complete Walker-the how-to manual for generations of backcountry trekkers-Fletcher provides meticulous detail in the planning and execution of a long-distance walking expedition.Written in the informal style of an old friend, Fletcher cordially invites you to join him on his travels. The Thousand-Mile Summer is a captivating read for hikers, campers, explorers, and all who love the great outdoors. This book is also available from Echo Point Books as a hardcover (ISBN 1648373755).

Swimming to Alaska
Lynch's fine poems suggest we're closest to life when also closest to death--a thoughtful message for these times. There is no safety for any of us, the speaker cautions. Yet when the red fox nods to a falling star exploding to dust in the night, we can't help but lift our faces, too, hungry, mouths open like those / of baby starlings. Through these poems we feel our own urgent desire for beauty that surrounds us still. Paula J. Lambert, author of The Ghost of Every Feathered Thing
Going to Seed
An abandoned place, a disheveled person, a shabby or deteriorating state: we describe such ruin colloquially as "going to seed." But gardeners will protest: going to seed as idle? No, plants are sending out compressed packets filled with the energy needed to sow new life. A pause from flowering gives a chance for the seeds to form. In a time of urgent environmental change, of pressing social injustice, and of ever-advancing technologies and global connections, we often respond with acceleration--a speeding up and scaling up of our strategies to counter the damage and destruction around us. But what if we take the seeds as a starting point: what might we learn about work, sustainability, and relationships on this beleaguered planet if we slowed down, stepped back, and held off? Going to Seed explores questions of idleness, considering the labour both of humans and of the myriad other inhabitants of the world. Drawing on science, literature, poetry, and personal observation, these winding and sometimes playful essays pay attention to the exertions and activities of the other-than-human lives that are usually excluded from our built and settled spaces, asking whose work and what kinds of work might be needed for a more just future for all.
The Beauty of Divine Solitude
The Beauty of Divine Solitude are the stories of a young man, creative, imaginative and curious about the wonders of life, reflections upon romance, natural Providences that we miss on our day to day adventures and a loving God who has blessed him beyond measures. To whom much is given much is required and such insight must be released. Love is what he seemed to never be able to find, and like so each particular dead end has become a story transfigured in his mind. One of everyone's goals in life is to find that significant other, the one that completely encapsulates the idea of love, but how can we find love if we haven't the love from above? Each story has traces of the serenity of nature within them, the wisdom and hidden beauty of such wondrous manifestations; the idea of a world where nature has become of more importance than the busyness of the 'real world'. The stories raise a lot of questions pertaining to the way humanity views particular areas of life and they are answered in a beautifully imagery filled manner. Without the reflections of God in our daily endeavors upon these idyll joys in our lives, our lives would be meaningless. His wonderful works and glory are interwoven between stories that convey love, stories that give light on natural beauties and God's unconditional love and wisdom hidden behind a world cluttered by folly. These stories you simply cannot miss, for they will invite you to view life in a different manner, a meaningful bliss.

Polarization Sensitive Imaging
Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2023 in the subject Physics - Optics, language: English, abstract: The present book is an extended version of my doctoral work on polarization optics and digital holography, which depicts the preliminary concepts of polarization optics and deals with their some novel applications in digital holography and computational imaging. First, it's about basic concepts and development of polarization-sensitive imaging techniques, advancing the existing polarization-sensitive interferometry and digital holographic (DH) techniques. Secondly, the techniques have been applied for the polarimetric characterization of anisotropic samples. In particular, aforesaid polarimetric investigations are mainly focused on the LC cells and SLMs. Further, some crucial issues in computational imaging, for instance, limited depth of field (DOF), and axial intensity of diffraction-limited imaging systems under low light throughput have been examined thoroughly. Attempts have been put forward to address the imaging artifacts using the concept of polarization coded apertures (PCAs), which are experimentally demonstrated using the polarization modulation characteristics of LC-SLM. The goal of this book is to disseminate its contribution to wider researcher fraternity. It is expected that this book will serve as a preliminary guide for undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars who are interested to pursue their research in polarization optics and holography domain.
The Einsteinian Revolution
How the Einsteinian revolution can be understood as the result of a long-term evolution of science The revolution that emerged from Albert Einstein's work in the early twentieth century transformed our understanding of space, time, motion, gravity, matter, and radiation. Beginning with Einstein's miracle year of 1905 and continuing through his development of the theory of general relativity, Einstein spurred a revolution that continues to reverberate in modern-day physics. In The Einsteinian Revolution, Hanoch Gutfreund and J羹rgen Renn trace the century-long transformation of classical physics and argue that the revolution begun by Einstein was in fact the result of a long-term evolution. Describing the origins and context of Einstein's innovative research, Gutfreund and Renn work to dispel the popular myth of Einstein as a lone genius who brought about a revolution in physics through the power of his own pure thought. We can only understand the birth of modern physics, they say, if we understand the long history of the evolution of knowledge. Gutfreund and Renn outline the essential structures of the knowledge system of classical physics on which Einstein drew. Examining Einstein's discoveries from 1905 onward, they describe the process by which new concepts arose and the basis of modern physics emerged. These transformations continued, eventually resulting in the establishment of quantum physics and general relativity as the two major conceptual frameworks of modern physics--and its two unreconciled theoretical approaches. Gutfreund and Renn note that Einstein was dissatisfied with this conceptual dichotomy and began a search for a unified understanding of physics--a quest that continued for the rest of his life.
A theoretical physicist looks at THE SUN
AMDGThis book lays the foundation for a science, as opposed to technology, of the sun. After an introduction explaining how science, in the strict sense, differs from technology, it examines several topics from both perspectives. As a first topic the book considers the orbit of the earth around the sun. Technology, after centuries of elaboration, calculates a fixed orbit. Science, on the contrary, easily concludes that the earth traces out many different orbits. Technology has its uses; science has its truth. Next the perihelion of Mercury is considered. Here Technology is seen as constructing mathematical models of dubious utility while serving to stimulate theatrical cosmological imaginations. Science focuses on unexplained forces which need to be investigated.Of the sun itself science addresses a topic which evades contemporary technology: What is the definition of the sun? Without definition, do we know what we are talking about?Next comes the center of the sun. Technology answers by assuming various mathematical shapes, all of which are approximations to the sun's actual shape. Science, in contrast, considers many different kinds of centers among which are: material and local, of symmetry, centroids, centers of relative density. Science shows how these latter are related to gradients. These many centers may be considered for the sun as a whole, or also for smaller sections. Thus a large prospect for analysis appears open for investigation. The surface of the sun comes next. Science has much to say about surfaces, while technology mostly stumbles on defining the sun's surface. As a primary observable the sun's surface needs close attention. The color of the sun is also immediately observable. Technologists use its color to determine the sun's surface temperature by using a mathematical equation called a "black body." Science objects noting that any painter can change a body's spectrum without altering its temperature. Contrariwise, bodies at different temperatures can exhibit an identical spectrum. After examining the black body thesis, the book explores an alternative which does not use Planck's Law. Temperature is seen as related to pressure in a scientific explanation of line and continuous spectra. The insight calls into question contemporary "black body" explanations and thus the accepted values of the sun's surface temperature. Each section concludes with a list of suggested tasks solar physicists may undertake to further a science of the sun.
Technology of Artificial Insemination in Chicken
The research results contained in this book, of course, still need development and follow-up on the results of the research that I have done and with the research team in order to obtain a broader output so that this animal science can provide benefits to the community and colleagues who have professions in the same field of knowledge. At the same time, besides that also in order to be able to obtain further research results whose research instruments are increasingly developing. And it is our hope that this book, which contains a collection of research results in the field of animal husbandry, both that I did alone and with my team, can provide benefits in the form of knowledge in the field of animal husbandry for the community and colleagues. One example of the results of my research is The Business Analysis of Lidani Farm. This study aims to ensure the feasibility and income of laying hen farms at Lidani Farm. This research is a survey study, which is a method of collecting data from a population to determine its general composition and characteristics. The data of this study were collected from primary and secondary sources. The approach used combines quantitative and qualitative techniques. Qualitative methods are used to analyze the feasibility of technical aspects and quantitative methods to analyze the feasibility of the financial aspects of Lidani Farm's livestock business.
