Bioinformatics study of elements potentially involved in response to light in Metarhizium
Light is one of the constant abiotic factors on the planet and practically all living organisms present some type of response to the light stimulus. An important aspect after light reception is the gene modulation; this mechanism involves stimulating or inhibiting the expression of certain genes that, possibly, have the purpose of adaptation to different environmental conditions. In fungi, light response has a very important effect on the genes involved in circadian regulation; in this process, the products of the frq and frh genes regulate the activity of the White-Collar Complex (WCC) in a time-dependent manner.This phenomenon is widely studied in saprophytic organisms, however; the study of the molecular components and the mechanisms involved in chronobiology and photobiology in entomopathogenic fungi is relatively new. In Metarhizium there are reports of phenotypic effects caused by the light stimulus, including growth in constant light or photoperiod; but there is no complete description of the mechanism that leads to these photo- dependent phenotypic characteristics.Based on the broad distribution of light response genes in filamentous fungi, we performed a bioinformatic analysis on the sub genomic context of said genes using the software Mauve and RStudio. We found that the light response genes appear to be constant in the genomes analyzed demonstrating a micro-syntenic conservation among the Metarhizium genus, except for the wc2 gene. To better understand the possible transcriptional regulation, we analyzed the promoters of the light response genes searching for putative cis-regulatory elements, finding conserved motifs in all the Metarhiuzm species analyzed; this approach allowed us to identify other possible genes for response to light and circadian control within the genome of this genus.Finally, we propose different light-dependent mechanisms, in addition to its putative molecular components and the genes involved in these characteristic phenotypes.

How Whiteness Claimed the Future
Interested in the ideological workings of fiction, I study how major avant-garde tropes promote the potential of permanent renewal as white America's property. Renewal ties to the capacities to create, progress, transcend, and simply be. From Black critique we know that, within dominant discourse, all these capacities have been denied to Black bodies ever since colonization. Black work has been fetishized, appropriated, stolen, and dismissed in and by dominant culture, while Black being is construed as negativity and barred on the level of ontology. It follows then that racialization operates on multiple levels in the conceptual frame of renewal. I study this conceptualization by re-reading the works of and criticism on progressive white authors. I examine how images of renewal enable the claim on futurity, transformative potential, and movement forward as exclusively white properties. Premised on oppositions between positive capacities and a state of complete incapacitation, these images are often viewed as separate constructions. This project shows that, deriving from white ideology, such representations are symbiotic and simultaneous - the "good" story of white renewal rests on the continual transgression towards Black being.

Multiphase Turbulent Reaction Flow

Flow structures and combustion for different vortex combustor are analyzed, such as advanced vortex combustor, trapped vortex combustor, swirl combustor and vortex cooling combustor, the coupling mechanism of flow, combustion as well as heat and mass transfer is obtained to reveal the combustion stabilization mechanism of different burners.

With his instruments, Sanctorius introduced quantitative research into the field of physiology. Historical accounts of Sanctorius and his work tend to tell the story of a genius who, almost out of the blue, invented a new medical science, based on measurement and quantification, that profoundly influenced modernity. Abandoning the "genius narrative," this book examines Sanctorius and his work in the broader perspective of processes of knowledge transformation in early modern medicine. It is the first systematic study to include the entire rangeof the physician's intellectual and practical activities. Adopting a material culture perspective, the research draws on the contemporary reconstruction of Sanctorius's most famous instrument: the Sanctorian weighing chair. Why did Jefferson write 'Notes on the State of Virginia'? There are today two common theses. The first, the Alphabet-Soup Thesis, maintains that the book is more or less a loose collection of notes in answer to the 22 queries given by French diplomat Fran癟ois Barb矇-Marbois. Jefferson's altering the arrangement of his answers to the questions is a matter of allowing for a smoother "narrative" for his answers, but other than that, one ought to be cautious not to read too much into his restructuring. The second, the Deconstructionist Thesis, is that meticulous deconstruction of the text reveals a latent thesis, which Jefferson, consciously or subconsciously, kept from his readers. Both views are problematic. The former cannot explain why Jefferson fell so deeply into the project, rearranged Marbois' questions so that the book would flow smoothly from nature to culture, and continually revise his often-lengthy answers, even after the Stockdale edition in 1787. The latter suffers from the fact that Jefferson tended never to write elliptically. "Thomas Jefferson's 'Notes on the State of Virginia': A Prolegomena" is an attempt to provide an alternative, "dialectical" reading to current interpretations of the book. The book, Holowchak asserts, is neither a simple omnium gatherum nor is its message accessible only through deconstruction. There is an obvious movement from nature (Gr., 'phusis') in the first seven queries to culture (Gr., 'nomos') in the remaining 16 queries, but that "movement" is not linear. Early naturalistic queries set up neatly Jefferson's discussion of the cultural aspects of Virginia, and Jefferson's explication of the cultural aspects of Virginia cannot be grasped without frequent returns to the naturalistic queries, hence its dialectic. Jefferson's aim overall, sums Holowchak, is the appropriation of what nature had given for humans' use-to perfect the social state by taming nature and putting it to use for human betterment.
