An Experimental Verification, With Krypton, of the Theory of the Thermal Diffusion Column for Multicomponent Systems

2025/07/22 出版

The extended form of the Jones and Furry theory, which describes the behavior of a multicomponent heavy isotopic gas in a Clusius-Dickel thermal diffusion column, is tested. Experimental and theoretical values of the thermal diffusion column transport equation coefficients Hsub{ik}, Ksub{c}, and Ksub{d}, are determined for krypton, a heavy isotopic gas with six isotopes. The experiments are carried out in a column of the hotwire type, at three wire temperatures: Tsub{H}=350 degrees C, 500 degrees C and 800 degrees C. Good agreement is found between the theoretical and experimental values of the coefficients. Seven of nine of the experimentally determined values of the coefficients agree within +- 10% with the corressponding theoretical values. The remaining two experimental values agree within +- 20% with the corresponding theoretical values. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Singlet Delta Oxygen

2025/07/22 出版

A new spectroscopic technique applicable to the detection of ultra-weak and for- bidden molecular transitions is presented. The method is based on o -axis integrated- cavity-output spectroscopy (ICOS) and has been applied to the detection of singlet (a1 g) oxygen in the (1,0) band of the electric-quadrupole allowed Noxon system (b1 + g a1 g) of oxygen. The details of the method as well as spectroscopic data con rming the absolute line positions of twenty-one lines in the (1,0) band of the b1 + g a1 g have been completed to within 0:004 cm 1. A Boltzmann analysis veri ed previously calculated and unproven integrated cross sections for each of the lines. Ten lines were also pressure broadened from 25 Torr to 100 Torr, and pres- sure broadening coe cients were determined from -p = 3:61 10 6 cm 1=torr to 5:81 10 6 cm 1=torr. These coe cients illustrate that rotationally-inelastic colli- sions are the dominant mechanism in molecular pressure broadening. The singlet oxy- gen was generated in a microwave plasma and the afterglow passed through an o -axis ICOS measurement system consisting of an 82 cm long, high- nesse (F 248000) optical cavity. The mirror re-ectivity, R, was determined by performing a cavity- ringdown measurement and observing ringdown times of 220 s in a range from 1494 nm to 1512 nm.This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Understanding the Role of Chaos Theory in Military Decision Making

2025/07/22 出版

Chaos theory is a poorly understood concept in social science and in military analytical decision making systems. Military decision makers require a multidisciplinary approach of mathematical analysis, modeling and simulation, topology, and post-structural philosophy if they intend to conceptualize chaos theory and complex adaptive systems and theirs relevance to military planning. The essence of this understanding is that while chaos appears random, chaos properly understood is a deterministic series found in very simple forms. These forms exhibit sensitivity to initial conditions, bounding, and attractors. Despite various methods for detecting chaos in mechanical systems, data set size limitations and inability to separate out adaptive behaviors make these techniques of little value in situ. Adaptation and complexity are phenomena that are very different from chaos. Higher order interactions and effects, self-organization, and propensity of co-evolution and novel emergence distinguish chaos from stochastic processes. The self-organization and emergence are evident when a cumulative effect is different from the additive effects of the components. These self-organizing components differ from chaos because the properties of resolution and scope are fundamentally different. The fractal nature of chaos ensures that it is scale less and, therefore, unable to produce novel emergent effects. One way to conceptualize chaos within complexity is through the Deleuzian post-structural Philosophy of Difference regarding Smooth and Striated Spaces and Nomad versus the Sedentary agents. This conceptualization, transferred to chaos applications, links turbulence to barriers and increased gridding on the surface of open systems. These barriers inform agents on suitable terrain and options during decision-making. Understanding chaos has several applications for military planning in real world environments. Because chaos is bounded, planners can create allowances for system noise. Evaluation of Conceptual Models of Natural Organic Matter (humus) From a Consideration of the Chemical and Biochemical Processes of Humification

2025/07/22 出版

Natural organic matter (NOM) has been studied for more than 200 years because of its importance in enhancing soil fertility, soil structure, and water-holding capacity and as a carbon sink in the global carbon cycle. Two different types of models have been proposed for NOM: (1) the humic polymer models and (2) the molecular aggregate models. In the humic polymer models, NOM molecules are depicted as large (humic) polymers that have unique chemical structures that are different from those of the precursor plant degradation products. In the molecular aggregate models, NOM is depicted as being composed of molecular aggregates (supramolecular aggregates) of plant degradation products held together by non-covalent bonds. The preponderance of evidence favors the supramolecular aggregate models. These models were developed by studying the properties of NOM extracted from soils and natural waters, and as such, they provide only a very generalized picture of the structure of NOM aggregates in soils and natural waters prior to extraction. A compartmental model, in which the structure of the NOM in each of the compartments is treated separately, should provide a more accurate representation of NOM in soil and sediment systems. The proposed NOM compartments are: (1) partially degraded plant tissue, (2) biomass from microorganisms, (3) organic coatings on mineral grains, (4) pyrolytic carbon, (5) organic precipitates, and (6) dissolved organic matter (DOM) in interstitial water. Within each of these compartments there are NOM supramolecular aggregates that will be dissolved by the solvent systems that are used by researchers for extraction of NOM from soils and sediments. In natural water systems DOM may be considered as existing in two subcompartments: (1) truly dissolved DOM and (2) colloidal DOM.This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. The Scientific Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth

CRC Press 出版
2025/07/22 出版

There is a limited understanding amongst scientists, students, and the public about realizing trust in scientific findings. This should be a paramount objective. Scientists and the public need to know more about the link between the philosophy of science and science research methods. There is a limited understanding of why accuracy is important and that it is not the same as precision. Also, there is often the need to be pragmatic and so measure an approximation of a real system, and the classic case is reductionism in biology versus whole organism biology. The author brings these topics together in terms of trusting in science.Features Covers how scientific truth is perceived and increases the preparedness of early career scientists. Examines the relatively new field of machine learning and artificial intelligence as applied to crystallography databases in biology and chemistry for new discoveries. Describes the major changes in digital data archiving and how vast "raw data" archives are being increasingly developed for machine learning and artificial intelligence as well as complete truth. This unique volume will be of interest to pre-university and university undergraduate students, principally in science. Presents scientific research examples from physics, chemistry, and biology together with their methodologies

Determination of Elements in Natural-Water, Biota, Sediment, and Soil Samples Using Collision/Reaction Cell Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry, Part 1

2025/07/17 出版

A new analytical method for the determination of elements in filtered aqueous matrices using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) has been implemented at the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Quality Laboratory that uses collision/reaction cell technology to reduce molecular ion interferences. The updated method can be used to determine elements in filtered natural-water and other filtered aqueous matrices, including whole-water, biota, sediment, and soil digestates. Helium or hydrogen is used as the collision or reaction gas, respectively, to eliminate or substantially reduce interferences commonly resulting from sample-matrix composition. Helium is used for molecular ion interferences associated with the determination of As, Co, Cr, Cu, K, Mg, Na, Ni, V, W and Zn, whereas hydrogen is used for Ca, Fe, Se, and Si. Other elements that are not affected by molecular ion interference also can be determined simply by not introducing a collision/reaction gas into the cell. Analysis time is increased by about a factor of 2 over the previous method because of the additional data acquisition time in the hydrogen and helium modes. Method detection limits for As, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, Ni, Se, Si (as SiO2), V, W, and Zn, all of which use a collision/reaction gas, are 0.06 microgram per liter (?g/L) As, 0.04 milligram per liter (mg/L) Ca, 0.02 ?g/L Co, 0.02 ?g/L Cr, 0.04 ?g/L Cu, 1 ?g/L Fe, 0.007 mg/L K, 0.009 mg/L Mg, 0.09 mg/L Na, 0.05 ?g/L Ni, 0.04 ?g/L Se, 0.03 mg/L SiO2, 0.05 ?g/L V, 0.03 ?g/L W, and 0.04 ?g/L Zn. Most method detection limits are lower or relatively unchanged compared to earlier methods except for Co, K, Mg, Ni, SiO2, and Tl, which are less than a factor of 2 higher.

Percentage bias for samples spiked at about one-third and two-thirds of the concentration of the highest calibration standard ranged from -8.1 to 7.9 percent for reagent water, -14 to 21 percent for surface water, and -16 to 16 percent for ground water. Formulation and Development of Triamcinolone Acetonide Loaded Nanosponges

Eliva Press 出版
2025/07/16 出版

The ideal of the exploration is to formulate hydrogel containing nanosponges of Triamcinolone acetonide for the treatment of Psoriasis. Psoriasis is presently treated with a numerous of topical and systemic remedies. Numerous of these treatments, still, are costly and involve adverse effects, similar as immunosuppression. As a result, there is a need to develop curatives that are effective, have less adverse effects, and are less costly. With the use of solvent emulsion diffusion process triamcinolone acetonide nanosponges were formulated, in which Eudragit L-100 was used as polymer, polyvinyl alcohol was used as an emulsifying agent, and an organic solvent mixture of Dichloromethane was used to make nanosponges. For the preparation of optimized batches of Hydrogel containing nanosponges various gelling agents were used such as Carbopol 934, HPMC K4, Sodium alginate and Acacia with same concentration. Therefore, with the help of different analytical tests i.e., SEM, FT-IR, Zeta potential etc. It was confirmed that by using the nanosponges formulation the biopharmaceutical characteristics of triamcinolone acetonide increased which is a BCS Class IV drug.

New Trends In Chemotherapy

Eliva Press 出版
2025/07/16 出版

The contemporary work depicts synthesizing an innovative sequence of polyfunctionalized Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine congeners ES1-ES18 and assessed for antimicrobial, antitumor, telomerase inhibition, and Anti-hepatitis B efficacies applying an array of techniques. Fortunately, most of the compounds demonstrated auspicious bio efficiencies. Additionally, in silico simulation was executed for determining the synthetic Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines anticipated mode of action. Compounds ES4, ES5, and ES6 were picked as the most potent and efficient candidates versus the telomerase enzyme [PDB id: 2B2A]. The consequences exposed that compound ES5 is the extremely credible operative in contradiction of telomerase enzyme as it disclosed the best binding score and interaction pose. These initial outcomes may improve in introducing more research strategies converged on pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines, exclusively those with anticipated bioefficacy, ultimate ADMET parameters, and constructive prospects.

Exploring the Chemistry and Functionality of Large Ring Compounds

Nidhi,Gupta  著
Eliva Press 出版
2025/07/16 出版

Step into the intricate world of chemistry, where the boundaries of molecular science are constantly being pushed, and discover the fascinating domain of large ring compounds, also known as macrocycles. These remarkable structures, characterized by their large, cyclic molecular framework, have captured the interest of scientists, chemists, and innovators worldwide. Macrocycles, defined by their unique architecture-spanning from a few atoms to several hundred-form closed-loop structures that confer exceptional chemical properties, setting them apart from smaller or linear molecules. Their ability to host various atoms or groups of atoms within their ring structure allows for remarkable versatility, making them invaluable in a multitude of applications. At the heart of macrocyclic chemistry lies the challenge and artistry of synthesizing these complex molecules. Creating a stable ring structure requires careful control over chemical reactions, often employing strategies like template-directed synthesis, ring-closing reactions, and catalysts to coax these large rings into existence. Each step in the synthesis process is a delicate dance where precision and creativity are paramount. One of the most intriguing aspects of macrocycles is their unique chemical behavior. The size and shape of the ring, along with the atoms or functional groups incorporated into the structure, can significantly influence the molecule's reactivity, stability, and ability to interact with other molecules. Macrocycles often exhibit enhanced binding affinities to specific ions or molecules, making them excellent candidates for host-guest chemistry. This property is particularly evident in molecular receptors.
