The Future of Humankind
Threatened by a global pandemic and by climate change, very many people fear we are facing an existential crisis. The Future of Humankind shows why these fears are unfounded and why we should be optimistic about our long-term future. It evaluates current major predictions for our future in three categories: (1) Extinction by natural disasters (including pandemics), by nuclear war or accident, by artificial intelligence, or by population explosion and climate change.(2) Survival by colonizing space or by extending individual healthspans and achieving immortality. (3) Transformation by uploading individual minds to computers or holograms. Although these categories are very different, they have three things in common: (a) They are speculations starting from the then current level of scientific and technological development.(b) They have a very low, if not negligible, probability of being realized; in those cases where specific predictions can be tested against outcomes, all have been disproven.(c) They make the implicit assumption that the future of the human species is determined by the future of individual humans. By contrast, the unique forecast in this book projects into the future the distinct pattern in the scientific evidence of an accelerating cosmic evolutionary process over some 15 billion years revealed in John Hands's previous book, the award-winning COSMOSAPIENS Human Evolution from the Origin of the Universe.

Biosorption of Strontiom from Watewater Using Rice Straws
Master's Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Chemistry - Bio-chemistry, University of agriculture Faisalabad, course: MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY, language: English, abstract: In the present study, the biosorption behavior of rice straws biochar beads was investigated for strontium removal from wastewater bodies. Strontium occurs naturally at the average amount of 0.04% and is considered the 15th most abundant element of earth's crust. It is recognized as one of the environmentally hazardous constituents and acts as a major pollutant in nuclear water discharges. It is widely used in electronics, pharmaceutical, pyrotechnics, and metallurgical industries that release strontium-rich watewater. Therefore, it is vital to remove it from the wastewater bodies. The biosorption process was carried out by using beads of rice straws biochar used as biosorbent.

Effect of the presence of paracetamol in the culture media of Aspergillus niger on activity of peroxidase
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Chemistry - Bio-chemistry, grade: 3.3, University of Cape Coast (Department of Biochemistry), course: Biochemistry, language: English, abstract: In this study, solid fermentation of Aspergillus niger with paracetamol in test culture media and no Paracetamol in the control media were carried out to generate Peroxidase. Effects of pH and temperature on peroxidase activity were determined by subjecting the enzyme to various pH and temperatures. Paracetamol, usually called acetaminophen, is a drug used to relieve moderate pain such as headache, migraine, nerve pain, toothache, period pain, and muscular pain. Paracetamol can relieve pain by lowering the production of prostaglandins in the brain and in the spinal cord. Overdose of paracetamol leads to loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, sweating, and whitening of the eye. Peroxidase forms a network in the body that has both beneficial and adverse effects. Peroxidase has physiological functions that substantially contribute to immunity and several metabolic and signaling processes. However, under certain circumstances, they exert deleterious effects such as damage to macromolecules in the plasma and activate cell death.
