Mathematics Success Mantra
"I aspire to be a good human teacher who possesses wisdom to teach my students, and show them that I genuinely care, and am concerned with their learning, a good human teacher who cannot be replaced by technology. As the old saying goes... "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day." I myself identify the despite of efforts, some students struggle to secure good results. I believe that the key to success lies in applying hard work correctly. The plethora of books which available today can often confuse students, . They putting them in a tough spot. Are these books truly beneficial? It's doubtful. After much consideration, I've decided to publish a book that caters to all types of students. I have intentionally focused on presenting fundamental ideas and equations. Mastering these basic concepts and principles will help students achieve top grades. However, in this competitive environment, securing good grades is crucial. Here are my recommendations for problem-solving: *Read the problem thoroughly;*Understand what is being asked of you;*Gather relevant concepts and formulae;*Apply them to the problem;*Draw diagrams when necessary.I believe that the fundamental ideas, rules, and equations are essential for solving most problems. This is why I introduced the book 'Mathematics Success Mantra.' I hope 'The Success Mantra' will be well-received and beneficial to all students.I dedicate this book to Sri J.R.L.V. Sharma, my math teacher, who has been a significant influence on my life. He transformed me from an average student into a successful math teacher, and Ravi Kumar kothapalli, the author of maths books.I have worked diligently to ensure this book is error-free. However, some printing errors may still be present. I would greatly appreciate it if you could inform me of any errors you find. We welcome constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement, which will be included in the next edition.-Ravi Kumar kothapalli

Applied Statistical Modelling for Ecologists
**2025 PROSE Award Finalist in Environmental Science** Applied Statistical Modelling for Ecologists provides a gentle introduction to the essential models of applied statistics: linear models, generalized linear models, mixed and hierarchical models. All models are fit with both a likelihood and a Bayesian approach, using several powerful software packages widely used in research publications: JAGS, NIMBLE, Stan, and TMB. In addition, the foundational method of maximum likelihood is explained in a manner that ecologists can really understand. This book is the successor of the widely used Introduction to WinBUGS for Ecologists (K矇ry, Academic Press, 2010). Like its parent, it is extremely effective for both classroom use and self-study, allowing students and researchers alike to quickly learn, understand, and carry out a very wide range of statistical modelling tasks. The examples in Applied Statistical Modelling for Ecologists come from ecology and the environmental sciences, but the underlying statistical models are very widely used by scientists across many disciplines. This book will be useful for anybody who needs to learn and quickly become proficient in statistical modelling, with either a likelihood or a Bayesian focus, and in the model-fitting engines covered, including the three latest packages NIMBLE, Stan, and TMB.

A deeper insight into the topics is provided by detailed examples and illustrations. The book covers the standard content of a course in probability and statistics. However, the second edition includes two new chapters about distribution theory and exploratory data analysis. The first-mentioned chapter certainly goes beyond the standard material. It is presented to reflect the growing practical importance of developing new distributions. The second new chapter studies intensively one- and bidimensional concepts like assymetry, kurtosis, correlation and determination coefficients. In particular, examples are intended to enable the reader to take a critical look at the appropriateness of the geometrically motivated concepts.

Math Mammoth Grade 8-A Worktext, Canadian Version
Math Mammoth Grade 8-A Worktext, Canadian version is the student book for the first half of grade 8, and part of the Math Mammoth Grade 8 complete curriculum. The curriculum is essentially the same as the U.S. version of Math Mammoth Grade 8, only customized for the Canadian audience in these aspects: - The curriculum uses the metric measurement units. Since Canadians do use some imperial units (e.g. miles, pounds) in some contexts, the curriculum does infrequently use them.- The spelling conforms mostly to American English, taking into account a few key differences where Canadian English follows British English.- Numbers are formatted with a space as a thousands separator, and a point as a decimal separator.- Page (paper) size is Letter. The US version of the curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Standards, which means this curriculum may not be properly aligned to the eighth grade standards in your province. However, you can probably find material for any missing topics in neighbouring grades. This book starts with a study of exponent laws, using both numerical and algebraic expressions. The first chapter also covers scientific notation (both with large and small numbers), significant digits, and calculations with numbers given in scientific notations. In chapter 2, students learn about geometric transformations (translations, reflections, rotations, dilations), common angle relationships, and volume of prisms, cylinders, spheres, and cones. Next, in chapter 3, our focus is on linear equations.Students both review and learn more about solving linear equations, including equations whose solutions require the usage of the distributive property and equations where the variable is on both sides.Chapter 4 presents an introduction to functions. Students construct functions to model linear relationships, learn to use the rate of change and initial value of the function, and they describe functions qualitatively based on their graphs.FeaturesMath Mammoth focuses on conceptual understanding. It explains the "WHY", so students can understand the math, not just learn "HOW" to do it.The curriculum is mastery-oriented. This means it concentrates fairly long on a topic, delving into its various aspects. This promotes conceptual understanding, as opposed to spiral curricula that often tend to jump from topic to topic too much.It requires very little teacher preparation. The curriculum has no separate teacher's manual nor is it scripted. The introduction to each chapter has some notes for the teacher concerning the material in the chapter. All the instruction is written directly to the student in the worktext. After each chapter introduction, you will find a list of Internet links and resources (games, quizzes, animations, etc.) that can be used for fun, illustrations, and further practice.

Students study slope, and graph and write linear equations in slope-intercept and standard forms. They also learn about parallel and perpendicular lines. In chapter 6, students delve into square roots, cube roots, and irrational numbers and solve equations involving square and cube roots. The rest of the chapter is spent studying the Pythagorean Theorem and its applications.Next, in chapter 7, we focus on systems of linear equations. Students learn the three basic techniques for solving these and also solve a variety of problems that are solved with a pair of linear equations. The last chapter covers statistical topics: scatter plots and two-way tables.FeaturesMath Mammoth focuses on conceptual understanding.
