Advances in Research on Structural Dynamics and Health Monitoring
Civil structures today are facing unprecedented challenges brought on by their modern design and more frequent natural disasters. The rapid development of engineering materials makes it possible to design and construct more slender structures with longer spans and taller heights. These structures' vulnerability to various dynamic excitations and the control of the resulting large-amplitude vibrations have become predominant issues. In addition to this, intensive research effort is urgently needed to examine the dynamic behavior of structures under extreme loading conditions such as damaging wind and devastating earthquakes. To ensure the safe performance and serviceability of structures during their lifespan, in addition to properly addressing the characteristics associated with loading and structural response, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented vibration control solutions, monitoring actual structural parameters to accurately assess the health of a structure during its service life is imperative. This Special Issue "Advances in Structural Dynamics and Health Monitoring" aims to collect and disseminate the latest developments in the dynamic analysis and health monitoring of civil structures to reflect current research trends and challenges in these fields. We invite original research, in terms of analysis and design methods, numerical modeling, experimental testing, field measurements, and case studies, as well as state-of-the-art review papers.

Island Tinkerers
How Taiwan rose to global prominence in high tech manufacturing, from computer maker to the world's leading chip manufacturer. How did Taiwan, a former Japanese colony and the last fortress of the defeated Chinese Nationalists, ascend to such heights in high-tech manufacturing? In Island Tinkerers, Honghong Tinn tells the critical history of how hobbyists and enthusiasts in Taiwan, including engineers, technologists, technocrats, computer users, and engineers-turned-entrepreneurs, helped transform the country with their hands-on engagement with computers. Rather than engaging in wholesale imitation of US sources, she explains, these technologists tinkered with imported computing technology and experimented with manufacturing their own versions, resulting in their own brand of successful innovation. Defying the stereotype of "the West innovates, and the East imitates," Tinn tells the story of Taiwanese technologists' efforts over the past six decades. Beginning in the 1960s, they grappled with the "black-boxed" computers that were newly available through international technical-aid programs. Shortly after, multinational corporations that outsourced transistor and integrated circuit assembly overseas began employing Taiwanese engineers and factory workers. Island tinkerers developed strategies to adapt, modify, assemble, and work with computers in an inventive manner. It was through this creative and ingenious tinkering with computers that they were able to gain a better understanding of the technology, opening the door to future manufacturing endeavors that now include Acer, Foxconn, Asus, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
Improvement of Healthcare Services using Metadata
In today's fast growing world we have analyzed distributed data sources publishing up to gigabytes of data each day, accumulating over the period of several months to the terabyte scale. This raises the challenge of how to efficiently store these distributed datasets, both in working caches for fast real-time access and archived forms which can be rein satiated for offline data analysis. In this paper, we have presented the processing services need to access several datasets at once to produce intelligent data fusion results, which are subsequently made available to decision makers in real-time. Since it is challenging to analyze all the results efficiently we have to make a solution of making the processing faster and more efficient. Here we are designing a method using Metatags to reduce the processing time and load of the existing systems. The metatags basically define the various attributes of data files and provide us options to access the files on the basis of selecting attributes. In proposed system light weight and heavy weight semantic is being separated on the basis of size. Above 10 are being added to heavy weight list and below 10 are added to light weight list.

Programming with LEGO(R) SPIKE(TM) Prime and Python for High School
This text highlights the growing importance of teaching programming in basic education, evidenced both by international initiatives and by academic research that analyzes effective teaching methods. In the UK, making programming compulsory in the school curriculum demonstrates an effort to align education with contemporary technical demands. Digital literacy is highlighted as fundamental to preparing young people for a job market that demands programming skills. The use of tools such as platforms and programming languages to integrate computational thinking and digital literacy are excellent pedagogical tools and extremely effective in basic education. These efforts highlight the need to develop programming skills in students, preparing them for future challenges. In line with the BNCC guidelines, the use of resources such as Python and the LEGO(R) SPIKETM PRIME KIT has proved to be effective in making learning more interactive and motivating for students in the first year of the new high school, as evidenced by the experiments applied in this work.

Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) when untreated, will cause several problems. Identifying diabetes at an early stage is an important factor because; disproportionate blood glucose levels will damage even the small vessels of blood in our heart, kidneys, eyes and can also affect the nervous system. The major hurdle in the management of T2DM is the lack of awareness of people towards lifestyle habits. So, a literature survey was performed and it was realized that there is an increase in interest of various researchers to set up an automated medical system which can screen and analyze the T2DM based datasets, for classification and prediction of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The performed study identifies that design and development of an accurate, effective and efficient classifier for T2DM classification is the need of time. Thus, an accurate, effective and efficient classification model is proposed and evaluated for T2DM diagnosis and treatment.
