An incredible account of the journey of one young man and his horse into a very old Europe, written in lush, comic prose that evokes classic writers such as Cervantes, Laurie Lee and Bruce Chatwin.Abandoning temporary jobs and all ideas of a career plan, twenty-three-year-old Louis Hall decided that he needed to take a very long ride on an unknown horse on forgotten mountain paths. Channelling Don Quixote, he was unprepared for most of the dangers that faced him and Sasha, the resilient and patient sixteen-hand bay Arab he first meets in a castle near Siena. He was even less prepared for the lessons that both Sasha and the young woman who joins them part way taught him about life's potential and its complexities.A glorious piece of rich, romantic travel writing that takes the reader along old paths, into ancient villages, sharing rural homes and stables of farmers and shepherds in the Ligurian Alps, Pyrenees, Basque country and Galician coast, from a brilliant new talent.

If not, you are in the company of most people who have visited Italy - even those who know and love Lake Como, one of the great beauty spots of the world. Yet the northern finger of the lake touches the Valtellina valley, where the pre-Alps meet the Alps. Here, in celebration of their symbiotic relationship, the mighty river of the Valtellina, the Adda, roars into the lake. One enters, as through a door in a child's story book, another world, an unspoilt, majestic valley, known for centuries as a cornucopia of goodness, full of historic towns and gastronomic specialities unique to the area. Its 2,500 kilometres of dry-stone walls make up the largest terraced area of viticulture in all Italy, known as 'heroic viticulture' for its dependence on human labour. However, its superb DOCG wines largely remain a secret to the rest of the world. This book is a lovingly researched, lyrical evocation of one of the most stunning areas of the world and its food and drink. It presents its culinary delights in the context of their history, territory, and local customs.

Exploring Tourists’ Drinking Behavior
Tourists' drinking behavior, particularly in the context of alcotourism, involves a complex interplay of various factors. This book delves into how these elements-including the alcoholic beverage, service, environment, atmosphere, and social setting-shape the overall drinking experience for tourists. Additionally, individual characteristics such as demographics, prior experiences, and personality traits significantly influence consumption behavior, as highlighted by Erasmus and Donoghue (1998). This study, conducted in Goa-a renowned destination for its vibrant drinking culture-uses a two-stage research approach. Initially, an exploratory study identifies the key factors influencing alcohol consumption experiences. This is followed by quantitative research involving the development and administration of a specialized scale to tourists. The study employs Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to ensure the reliability and validity of the findings. One significant contribution of this research is the validation of the Alcohol Consumption Experience (ACE) scale within the context of alcotourism, an underexplored area in academic literature. By examining the impact of various dimensions of the drinking experience on tourists' behavioral intentions, the study offers valuable insights into the dynamics of alcohol consumption in tourism. Key findings highlight the choice of alcohol as central to the consumption experience, with factors like drinkscape, social settings, and service experience also playing crucial roles. From a managerial perspective, the study emphasizes the importance of offering a diverse and high-quality selection of alcoholic beverages to enhance the consumption experience. Additionally, creating an inviting physical environment and providing professional, friendly service are crucial for positive guest perceptions. The ACE scale developed in this study holds promise for further research, potentially extending its application to non-alcoholic beverages and local drinks.

Literary Landscapes: New York
A beautiful photographic stroll around the bookshops, restaurants, literary locations and authors' neighbourhoods in the Big Apple. Literary Landscapes: New York is the follow-up to Literary Landscapes: Paris and contains a familiar blend of everything precious to the bibliophile - a blend of quirky bookstores, authors' favourite bars, grand libraries, storied hotels, on- and off-Broadway theatres, New York residences and literary locations. For beloved bookstores there is the Argosy, dating to 1925 and the oldest in Manhattan, Three Lives & Company in West Village, The Strand in East Village, The Corner Bookstore on the Upper East Side, the Alabaster Bookshop, and, stretching across to Brooklyn, the Greenlight Bookstore. LL: NYC takes you inside restaurants and bars like Sardi's - birthplace of the Tony Award; the Algonquin Hotel and the White Horse Tavern, Dylan Thomas's last night out in the Big Apple. When it comes to hotels, The Plaza appears in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, but it is the Chelsea Hotel that has the most literary resonance. Mark Twain stayed there, Arthur Miller wrote there, as did Arthur C. Clarke and Simone de Beauvoir. Literary locations are aplenty in New York - from Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote to Washington Square by Henry James. The book takes a short trip up Long Island to visit Walt Whitman's birthplace and while nothing but plaques remain of the New York homes that Herman Melville knew, we visit the literary giants buried alongside Melville in Woodlawn Cemetery. All these chapters are interspersed with telling quotes about the city that never sleeps.

The crush of stress, anxiety, and sleep deprivation overtake the thrill of hopping on a flight. The idea of dining solo or sipping a G&T in yet another overhyped airport lounge amplifies his loneliness. The burnout is real. Green rethinks the sacrifices he's made, wondering if his adult life has been a lie. Life in the Sky explores what the idea of success looks like for young people who, when presented with opportunities, buy the proverbial ticket but don't always know when or how to get off the ride. The author's wry humour and humility ring clear in this travelogue, with smart insights into the perks and pitfalls of corporate life, often at 30,000 feet.
