Camino De La Luna - Truth (Without Pictures)
The sixth and penultimate in the "Camino de la Luna" series (or eighth if you count "free Feeling Real Emotions Everyday" and "Japan Is Very Wonderful") "Truth" continues the journey. "The first principle is that you must not fool yourself - and you are the easiest person to fool." Richard Feynman, Nobel Prize winning physicist The moment I felt my real feelings, back in a Native American healing in 2016, I discovered what a great liar I was. Lonely, depressed, desperate... the lowest of the low... No matter how my life looked to anyone else the only thing that mattered was being real with myself. But I was still lying, so poetically, so romantically, tricking myself, that my lies grew even more dangerous. Luckily life protected me from myself, from acting on what I thought was real. Instead I got on a plane to Spain and started hiking, each step bringing me closer to the truth, which I would finally understand on the other side of the world. Also available as a full colour paperback.
Repacking for Greece
When a long-forgotten, apartheid-era arrest record derails Sally's plans for a Canadian family holiday, she packs her mum's 1978 travel diary and sets out solo for Greece instead. As she journeys to the landmarks her mother once visited - and discovers many more - Sally immerses us in Greece's awe-inspiring landscapes and fascinating heritage sites. She delights in absorbing the country's rich history and connecting the dots between legend, location and contemporary literature.Insightful, intelligent and with an infectious sense of wonder, Sally embraces a gentler approach to travel: facing her fears, abandoning old anxieties, and finding joy in the simple pleasures of her own Greek odyssey. The second release in the 'Packing for Greece' series travels to Athens and Delphi on the mainland; Nafplio, Mycenae, Epidavros and Methana on the Peloponnese Peninsula; and the islands of Hydra, Aegina, Poros, Kefalonia and Corfu (with a side trip to Albania).
Being There
In this tome, Jean and John Dillon open their old travel diaries to take us fondly back to the days of pre-millennium travel, when getting there was achieved with the use of maps and signposts, as opposed to pings and notifications, and being there was recorded in a journal. Whether for leisure or scholarly pursuit, Jean and John bring us to North America, Mexico, Europe, Hawaii, Israel - and most fondly of all, perhaps - to Greece. The diaries are frank, witty, and always entertaining. They represent the first sortie into travel writing for the authors.

Made in Ibiza
Made in Ibiza is both a visual treatand a fitting celebration of a dynamic creative scene that contributes so muchto the vitality of this unique Mediterranean island. It may be a top tourist destination, but - as this captivating new bookshows - there is far more to Ibiza than nightclubs and beaches. The island hasbeen at the center of Mediterranean life since the arrival of the Phoeniciansalmost 3000 years ago. Over the centuries, other great civilizations left theirmark on this strategic trading post, and in the 20th century hippies and bohemiansfamously found in Ibiza a refuge from conformity. To the present day, theisland continues to attract artists and craftspeople from around the world. Togetherwith native Ibizans who embrace the traditions of their forebears, theseforeign-born inhabitants form a vibrant creative community that plays a vitalrole in maintaining the unique character of the 'White Island'. This book showcases the wealth of creative talent in Ibiza today. It shinesa bright Balearic light on some of the island's most inspirational artists and makers, on their products and services, and on their studios and homes. This is a place ofgreat natural beauty, but - as Liam Aldous discusses in his introduction - thereare inherent limitations to making things work. Geographic isolation, a lack ofindustry, and a scarcity of materials are perennial difficulties. However, ratherthan impeding creativity, such challenges fuel ingenuity. As Aldous says, 'InIbiza, where life's creative canvas often feels unfettered and fresh, creatingart, architecture or artisanal goods can also be an opportunity.' The main part of the book is arranged into chapters grouping similartypes of products or areas of expertise. More than 35 enterprises are featured, ranging from Blakstad Design, founded in 1967 and now Ibiza's most prestigious architecturalpractice; Majoral, whose jewelry is sold in boutiques across Europe and theUnited States; to Ses Cabretes, a goat farm and cheese producer; and Ladio Ceramics, inspired by the island's pottery tradition and the nature that surrounds Laurade Grinyo's secluded studio. Specially commissioned photography by Ana Lui andSalva L籀pez captures the artisans at work, the materials, and the finished products, while concise descriptions are provided by Aldous, Maya Boyd, Clare Dowdy, andChris English. The book concludes with a series of insightful essays by MartinDavies on the island's cultural history. Perfect for anyone enthralled by the beautyof Ibiza.

In 2018, I joined this pursuit, starting my journey on the Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port in France and concluding in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This 800 km trek, spanning forty days, was a solo venture, but as this book reveals, I was never truly alone. Along the way, I encountered numerous individuals, sharing not only the physical path but also profound connections. I wholeheartedly recommend this pilgrimage - far more than a mere walk - to anyone earnestly seeking meaning in life.

Goldfinches & Dandelions
Having driven over 200,000 miles through Europe spanning seven years exploring 20 countries, over 30 cities, countless languages, seven mountain ranges, and a plethora of markets and restaurants, I was struggling to find a way to quantify these experiences along with the knowledge so far gained. As I naturally built a repertoire of recipes and culinary photography from across the continent, the idea struck that all this could be neatly tied up in one subjective pan-European cookbook. Personally, this surmises an incredibly intense and formative period of travel and movement that occurred over my early to mid-twenties, when Brexit, a pandemic, and many other geopolitical changes were shaping the countries I was living in and eating through. The moving sands made life and its priorities hard to negotiate. They gave rise to difficult questions only solved through experience and perhaps slightly overindulging in the continent's many great wines and spirits. However, one thing remained constant: the absolute adoration of our local foods and producers. The knowledge built has been invaluable in enriching life, and at this point, it seeps into all its aspects.
Moving Islands
'Moving Islands' is John's seventh memoir book, and it continues very much in the same vein as the previous six, in that it's highly amusing, even laugh-out-loud in places, yet also informative and educational, giving a unique insight into what it's like not only to move to Greece from the UK, but also how one goes about moving from one island to another, a watershed in their lives that neither the author nor his wife had foreseen coming. If you've ever wondered what might be involved in upping sticks and moving house to a different Greek island, always assuming that, like the author, you'd made the life-changing decision to move countries many years earlier, then read this book and you'll either vow never to do it yourself, or to keep this work close-by as a guide for getting through the whole complicated and sometimes hugely frustrating experience.

Wanderings Wide
This book is a biography of my father, Albert Solberg (1903-1996). He was born in Norway, joined the Norwegian merchant marine at eighteen, and came to the United States in 1924. He endured personal tragedy and a half-dozen brushes with death, but also had some amazing experiences in places like India, Samoa, and South America. Later, he worked as a yacht crewman on the Great Lakes. After settling in New York City, he married in 1933. He and his wife of 63 years raised six children, and he lived to the age of 92. This is a story about adventure, hard work, and family--how an immigrant carved out a piece of the American Dream. All readers have known someone like Albert, who came to America with nothing and created a good life in a new land.

Tourism in European Cities
Tourism in European Cities explores the relationship between tourist activity and the architecture and built environment within which it takes place. This is the first book to consider urban tourism with a particular focus on European cities. Tourism in European Cities considers the tourist experience and the various elements that shape it. In many cities, the historic core plays a crucial role in tourism either as the location of the more important attractions, or as an attraction in its own right. The book dedicates a chapter to urban heritage and its relationship to tourism, including urban conservation and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Another chapter considers contemporary architecture and debates some cities' efforts to use iconic architecture, in particular, to enhance their attractiveness in the context of increased competition between cities. In the context of competition, many cities are resorting to events as a strategy to reposition and differentiate themselves from other cities. Major events are accompanied by major investment in event venues and in urban infrastructure. The city often serves as a backdrop to the urban festival as activities and performances are staged in the city's urban spaces. This book is essential reading for students of tourism and urban geography. It is also of interest to students of urban planning and architecture, and anyone keen to learn more about tourism and European cities.
