How the Ghost Army Hoodwinked Hitler
The unbelievable true story of the American soldiers who used inflatable tanks and fake radio broadcasts as weapons in World War II. Right around D-Day of World War II, a small, unarmed American army unit deployed to Nazi-occupied France. Instead of artillery, this unit fought with stagecraft, artistry, and deception. Their "weapons" included inflatable rubber tanks and giant speakers broadcasting fake military maneuvers. The soldiers called themselves the Ghost Army. Many of them had creative backgrounds in fashion, theater, and music, and they used their talents to trick and confuse the enemy. Often, their mission was to draw enemy fire away from other soldiers and toward themselves. One of the most stunning parts of this story is just how effective the Ghost Army was. They successfully carried out mission after mission and undeniably helped secure Allied victory. Rebecca Siegel uses original research, declassified records and photos, and a boots on the ground narrative style to tell the incredible experiences of these heroic soldiers.

My Teen Friend
Hi, My name is Sunee and I'm a teenager, living near the coast of northern New South Wales, Australia.I am currently homeschooled and I love it.I am a writer, a singer, and I play the keyboard and compose songs. I also love photography, drama, dancing, cooking, and going to the gym. I guess something a little more unusual about me is that I can communicate with animals. When I was three, I wrote stories and listened to my Dad telling me stories as well. I have always been into writing, whether it's essays for school, writing contemplations in my own time, or composing songs, poems and haikus.Writing has given me a sense of freedom and being able to forget about my worries. I lose myself in a beautiful bubble, where it's just me and my book or computer, and there I write from my heart, for a period of creative time.I remember the first day I said, "I want to write a book." It feels like a long time ago, yet I have learnt so much about myself through this process, and now I know that I do have the capacity and strength to write a book.As you can probably tell, I'm very passionate about writing, and English remains one of my favourite subjects.I'm excited for you to experience my book and get to know me a little more on your reading journey. Remember, it's not just my book, it's yours too!

Zoe's mother owns a deli and they run out of latkes each day. One day Sandy and Zoe get into a spirited discussion about which is better: hamantaschen or latkes. Monster Maker: The Strange Creatures of Mark Nagata
Lion Head charges into Melted Candle Man! GAOO! Chicken Head swoops down and thrashes Lion Head! GUCHYA! The monster battle rages on! GASHAN! These kaiju, Japanese creatures delivered as toys to a nine-year-old boy one Christmas day from relatives in Japan, became the catalyst for artist and toymaker Mark Nagata's career. This is the story of his journey from budding artist to world-renowned Japanese toymaker! When Mark Nagata was nine years old, he received a Christmas package in his California home all the way from relatives in Japan. Inside the package, Mark found brightly colored plastic toys. What amazed Mark about these toys was how different they were from his own action figures, being so brightly colored with shimmering, unrecognizable writing on the boxes. It didn't matter that Mark didn't understand the writing. After conjuring up names for each figure, it was clear that it was love at first sight! Monster Maker: The Strange Creatures of Mark Nagata is a biographical account of toy designer, painter, illustrator, and collector Mark Nagata. From a very young age, Mark was a fan of many classic comic book series, movies and toys. It was the introduction to classic Japanese television shows that truly sparked his creativity, which ultimately led to his success as a toymaker, most specifically kaiju toys. Kaiju translates to strange creature but has since come to mean large monster in Japanese. Mark bases his toy design and artwork on this type of creature and his work has flourished into an important and well-recognized art form in the United States and around the world. Author Debbi Michiko Florence provides a note at the end of the story explaining her connection to Mark Nagata's work, a connection that stems from a visit to the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, where she experienced the exhibit Kaiju vs. Heroes: Mark Nagata's Journey Through the World of Toys. She became so enthralled with the exhibit and Mark Nagata's process of creating the toys that she was even invited to his home to see the process firsthand. This additional information on the process by which the toys are created complements the story very well for the reader.

The Children's Bible in 365 Stories
Enjoyed by millions, international bestseller The Children's Bible in 365 Stories tells the classic stories of the Bible with timeless illustrations and intriguing detail. Popular children's author Mary Batchelor retells old favorites as well as significant lesser-known Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments--including sections that most children's Bibles do not have space for: poetry, wisdom literature, prophets, and the New Testament letters. The result is a readable and thorough illustrated children's Bible with a story for every day of the year. Evocative artwork by John Haysom reflects the mood and content of each of the 365 Bible stories. Ideal for independent reading or for an adult and child to read together through the year. Give the children in your life a solid start to building their own faith and learning about Jesus and the gospel message through God's Word. "An imaginative arrangement, preserving the ongoing interest of a serial ... The illustrations are excellent ... and will hold the listener's eye if the book is being read aloud ... This selection provides a built-in continuity which other collections lack." Church Times (UK) "Written in a lively, easily understood style which still retains the dignity of the original ... The luminous artwork is realistic, expressive and well researched in detail." School Library Journal

Zohran Walks New York
A USA Today Bestseller! "Though aimed at young readers, we think it also works as a great collector's item for all ages -- a keepsake to remember this moment in history (even if you're just watching from afar, in some place like Wisconsin)."--Rolling Stone "...promises to be cute."--The Cut (New York Magazine)This love letter to New York City shows New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani walking through all five boroughs and celebrating the people and places that make it great. Zohran Mamdani has walked through the streets of New York City since he was a child, and at every crosswalk, there's something new to celebrate. From a Mets game at Citi Field to a polar bear plunge at Coney Island, the city is filled with adventures waiting to be had. This joyful picture book for ages 4-8 is inspired by his noted thirteen-mile mayoral campaign walk. "This playful picture book debut from Von Platen takes inspiration from the 13-mile summer 2025 Manhattan campaign walk of mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. As thin-lined, bold-hued illustrations nod to the look of Mamdani's much-buzzed-about political poster design--a palette that draws from New York City's visual culture of bodega signs and yellow cabs--the subject affably strolls, cheers, and occasionally boogies through the city, wearing the same slightly rumpled black suit, blue tie, and blue sneakers. Minimalist text refers warmly to 'Zohran's city' ('In Zohran's city, there are new things to do at every crosswalk'), but what emerges in this fond portrait is a bustling metropolis that belongs to all. There, 'everyone is always on the move' (Mamdani greets folks beneath an elevated train), but it's also okay to 'slow down and listen' (he sits on a park bench, sipping from the classic New York coffee cup). Even readers beyond the five boroughs will recognize the figure as someone who loves where he lives and believes that every interaction matters."--Publishers Weekly
