Bibliography of Works on John Stuart Mill
Among the services provided by the Mill News Letter, published in conjunction with the Collected Works of John Stuart Mill, has been the collection of bibliographical information about Mill. From 1965 to 1970 an alphabetical checklist compiled by Dudley L. Hascall and John M. Robson was published serially, and subsequent issues have contained lists of recent publications. Professor Laine has now revised, updated, and indexed thses listenings for publication in more permanent form. The bibliography lists almost 2000 books and articles published at the end of 1978 dealing in a substantial way with Mill's thought and career. Annotation has been provided where the title of the book or article is not self-explanatory, and occasionally to indicate the direction fo an argument or to quote a revealing or amusing passage. Cross-references note items that take up the same point or dispute it. Three appendixes list light or satiric verse mentioning Mill, cartoons (both chiefly found during the parliamentary years), and portraits. Two indexes, a topical index and an index of persons cited, add to the usefulness of the volume.

Bruce Peel's Bibliography was hailed by authorities as the single, finest introduction to the literature of the Canadian Prairies ever compiled, and one of the pioneering monuments of Canadian bibliographic scholarship. Peel laboured, with the assistance of volunteers, to collect additional material for the annotations, source bibliography, author and title indexes, and biographical notes.
Household Words
The fact that most of the contributors to Charles Dickens's first periodical, Household Words (published from 1850 to 1859), were anonymous has meant that in some highly important respects the character of the publication has been hidden. Using as a basis the Household Words Office Book (in the Morris L. Parrish collection of Victorian Novelists in the Princeton University Library), Miss Lohrli has provided a table of contents to the nineteen volumes of Household Words, a list of the contributors with their contributions, and a title index to the more than 3,000 items, prose and verse, published during the nine years of the periodical's existence. She has also identified a large number of the contributors and unearthed biographical information about them from a variety of sources. Among the 390 men and women included in the list of contributors, such writers as Wilkie Collins, George Augustus Sala, Elizabeth Gaskell, and Adelaide Procter occupy a prominent place. THere also appear names of persons rarely -- or never -- mention in connection with Dickens's periodical: the colonial journalist John Cappter, the miscellaneous writer (and divine) Edmund Saul Dixon, the pioneer settler in Australia John Pascoe Fawkner, the forgotten poetess Mary Jane Tomkins, the son and daughter of Thomas Hood, the sister of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the widow of Sydney Smith, and foreign contributors -- American, German, Belgian, Italian, Polish, and Hungarian. The contributors are described with respect to educational background, professional training, work published, and their relations with Dickens. Data are also given on the feeds paid for the contributions. The result is a fascinating depiction of some of the popular writers of that day as chosen by the decidedly catholic taste of Dickens. The four-part introduction discusses the periodical in general: its contents, style, and readership; next the contributors to the periodical -- the 'regulars' and the occasional writers; then, the Household Words Office Book; and, finally, pertinent bibliographical matters concerning Household Words. This book will be of absorbing interest to all Dickensians and to specialists in the literature and social history of the period.

In addition to verifying as many of Tremaine's original library locations as possible, and identifying additional copies of the items, the authors have added the many new entries that have come to light in the last forty-five yearsThe new work is an analytical bibliography of previously unrecorded eighteenth-century Canadian imprints and a source for the study of early print culture in the Maritimes, Quebec, and Ontario. The definition of imprint has been extended to encompass all products of the press, from books and official documents to job printing such as handbills, commercial notices, licences, and land grants. The work includes a transcription of the accountsof more than thirty years of book and job printing from the Brown Neilson office in Quebec City, the most extensive collection of business records left by an early Canadian print shop.

He is the first male in his family to graduate from college, a BS degree with honors from Elizabeth City State University, and a MS degree from George Washington University.

Specifically, this book is geared towards the "sandwich generation," typically in their 30s and 40s, who are raising their children and taking care of aging parents. This book is also geared towards the "club sandwich generation," typically in your 50s and 60s, who may be caring for your parents, adult children, and grandchildren. We have addressed specific areas of responsibility that come with the tasks associated with this growing phenomenon. Among the issues addressed are the medical and emotional needs and financial concerns of caring for your elderly parents/relatives. Most important, we have also highlighted the needs of the caregiver, which are so often overlooked. I have taken two (2) years of taking care of our Dad and all that we've had to research, learn, and adapt to, and condensed it into what I hope is a resourceful tool that will help someone navigate going, "From Child To Caregiver."
