This scholarly analysis highlights key features of Ukrainian folk traditions reflected in the much-loved fantasy drama by Lesia Ukrainka The Song of the Forest, exploring the contributions by five historical English translations of this famous work to our understanding of Ukrainian culture and identity. The author, Dr Patrick John Corness, an experienced specialist in the theory and practice of literary translation with particular interests in Ukrainian literature, and the recipient of prestigious awards for his previous work, including an honorable mention from the American Association for Ukrainian Studies for his own translation of The Song of the Forest, offers unique insights into a neglected aspect of Ukrainian translation studies.About the authorPatrick John Corness holds a PhD in Literary Translation Studies from the University of Warwick. Formerly a university teacher of languages for over thirty years, in the 1990s he co-ordinated the co-operation of Coventry University with Lviv State Polytechnic University in a major four-year EU-funded project promoting development of the teaching of English and German in universities of western Ukraine. Since 2000, he has specialized in the theory and practice of literary translation, and he has an extensive portfolio of publications in this field. In 2013, he was awarded a Silver Medal by the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University, Prague, for achievements in the international dissemination of Czech culture and scholarship. From 2014 to 2023 he was Visiting Professor of Translation at Coventry University, England. In 2015, as co-editor and translator from the Polish of Selected Drama and Verse by Franciszka Urszula Radziwillowa (1705-1753), published by Iter Academic Press, he received the Josephine Roberts Award from the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women and Gender for the best scholarly edition of 2015 in the field of women's studies and gender. In 2023, he was awarded Honorable Mention by the American Association for Ukrainian Studies for his scholarly bilingual edition of Lesia Ukrainka's Лісова пісня (The Song of the Forest) published in 2021 by the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies Press.

Positionalities of Translation Studies
This volume explores historical, cultural, linguistic, and anthropocentric influences on Translation Studies (TS). Unveiling the Impact of Concept Mapping on Reading Comprehension
Since reading maintains information acquisition, it is considered an essential skill. Reaching the ultimate goal of reading-reading comprehension-is not always assured, though, as was the case for a large number of master students of English at Biskra University. They possessed insufficient reading skills that may allow them to address the text's reading comprehension questions improperly and/or superficially. Therefore, the current study sought to determine the impact of employing the concept mapping strategy on the reading comprehension of the study's sample, which consisted of 26 students. The study adopted a mixed-methods approach, involving quasi-experimentation and a case study design. In this regard, pre- and post-treatment questionnaires, tests (pretest and posttest), and teacher interview were used to collect data. Research findings revealed that the participants had a variety of reading comprehension obstacles that might be caused by a variety of factors. Besides, the practicality of the concept mapping strategy was statistically reflected in the posttest scores, which were noticeably higher than the pre-test scores.

Rhetorics of Refusal
Rhetorics of Refusal focuses on a recent public health crisis--Minnesota's 2017 measles outbreak--to recast vaccine refusals less as products of poor health literacy or disinformation and more as strategic and generative acts of noncompliance. The outbreak, which primarily affected unvaccinated Somali children, occurred at the nexus of declining vaccination rates, spiking autism concerns, antivaccination predation, and a fraying public health infrastructure. However, during a year-long ethnographic study at a Somali health center, Kari Campeau found that personal stories from parents offered a much different picture of vaccine refusal than the one painted by news media. Tracking refusals across four sites, Campeau argues for the importance of approaching refusals as rhetorical and participatory strategies that hold institutions accountable, press for change, and practice care within emergent biosocial communities. Moreover, she views refusal as necessary and potentially transformative in situations where refusers have little access to power or platform. By contextualizing refusals in longer cultural and political histories, Campeau unsettles traditional narratives of medical dissent while offering new entry points into discussions on racialized biopolitics, care, disability, and public health.

This notion aims to examine the dissertation and existential principles under the concept of absurdity in Theatre of Absurd (1960). The researcher concludes that in the Theatre of Absurd, characters who are irrational and imprisoned in absurd conditions must live or rather fill up the time by committing nonsensical and irrational acts that are mainly present in their daily sequences.

Effect of Non-Verbal Communication on Teaching/Learning English.
The thesis dealt with the effect of non-verbal communication on teaching English in selected Rwandan secondary schools. In this study, we examined how non -verbal communication is impacting on teaching of English in the selected Schools in Kanjongo Sector Nyamasheke District, Rwanda The research aimed at identifying nonverbal language cues used by teachers of English in the selected schools and assessing the impact of nonverbal communication on teaching English in selected secondary Schools in Kanjongo Sector, Nyamasheke District. The study explains in deep the problem identified for it to be carried out and gives reasons why it had to be conducted. The researcher explained some theories related to nonverbal communication such as Kinesics, Haptics, and paralanguage. We also referred to what other researchers wrote about nonverbal communication. The population were teachers and students of English in selected Schools in Kanjongo Sector, Nyamasheke District, Rwanda.

Effect of drama activities on performance of learners in English
The book aimed to examine effect of using drama activities on performance of learners in English in primary schools of Gasaka Sector. Drama technique encourages the participations of pupils in the learning of English language. In other words, language practice is the driving force in language learning. By participating through drama activities learners acquire communicative skills, fluency, self-confidence, creative skills, and reading skills and so on. In order to achieve the objectives assigned to this study, four kinds of research methodology have been used in order to know the extent to which drama activities are used and their importance in English classroom in Rwandan primary schools. These methods are the questionnaire, interviews, documentation, and observations of live teaching sessions. The study reveals the positive effect of teaching English through drama on pupil's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. It sheds light on the method of putting pupils in authentic situations to help them discover their hidden creativity and overcome their fears.
Linguocognitive feаtures of proper nouns in English and Uzbek languages
This study explores the linguocognitive features of proper nouns in English and Uzbek, focusing on their semantic, cognitive, and cultural aspects. Proper nouns are not only linguistic units but also reflections of cultural identity, historical background, and societal norms. The research examines the formation, classification, and cognitive processing of proper nouns in both languages, highlighting similarities and differences in their usage. Special attention is given to how proper names encode cultural information and influence perception in different linguistic communities. The study also discusses the role of cognitive linguistics in understanding the conceptual nature of naming conventions.Findings indicate that proper nouns in English and Uzbek share universal cognitive patterns, yet differ in morphological structure, semantic motivation, and sociocultural significance. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of onomastics, cross-linguistic cognition, and cultural linguistics.
Effect of globalization on oral literature in Rwanda
This study aimed to analyze the effect of globalization on oral literature in Rwanda, focusing on Musanze sector and INES-Ruhengeri. Employing a mixed research design of descriptive survey and a case study, the research aimed to identify the types of globalization affecting oral literature, their effect and possible strategies. The study targeted 864 individuals, with a sample drawn through stratified and simple random sampling, including 80 students whose responses were analyzed. Data collection methods comprised questionnaires, interviews, and document reviews. Reliability of research instruments was ensured through peer and supervision review at the University of Kampala. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 20, with findings presented in frequency tables. The research revealed that commercial / trade /economic and technological globalization are the most influential factors impacting oral literature in the region.
