Climate dynamics in Burkina Faso from 1991 to 2021
This study focuses on climate variability in Mouhoun province over the period 1991-2021. It is based on documentary analysis of ANAM-BF data. Data analysis was based on climatological data on rainfall, humidity and ETP. These data were processed using Instat+ software. The results showed a reduction in season length, estimated at over 25 days between 1991 and 2021, with a minimum duration of 92 days in 2007 and a maximum duration of 188 days in 1994. The average start date of the winter season was May 28. The upward trend in the season start date, from May 12 in 1991 to June 21 in 2021, indicates a late start to the season. The increase in SPI adequately reflects an upturn in rainfall. As for the water balance diagnosis, it revealed that the start and end of wet seasons varied in time and space, with fluctuations in the rhythm, intensity and duration of wet periods. This reveals a limiting factor for agricultural production.
Rhizomatic self-writing and fiction
This book proposes a reflection on the path that leads us today to work on creative research in dance, i.e. on works (video dance) and practices (improvisation and choreographic montage) that make the place (of the journey) and the ephemeral situation of sensory immersion the mainspring of the artistic approach. It is organized into chapters that reflect the different approaches to choreographic art in the field of creative research. The questions posed stimulate reflection on the immersive field of dance ("practice as research"). The diverse aesthetics of dance are the primary framework for defining the research posture and examining the relationship between theory and practice.
The human body in art
The human body in art: reflections on being a teacher/artist is a research project that began during my undergraduate degree in Visual Arts. These writings use my artistic process as an investigative method to think about the initial training of academics and basic education. I present the body in art and teacher training, providing an understanding of the body of the artist presented and the human body represented in art, raising questions about how the subject has been perceived by art teachers in training. The research is exploratory in nature, combining observation tools and semi-structured interviews to gain a deeper insight into the reality of the 'teacher/artist' students in training. In these writings, I also report on my personal experience and the whole process of my own body as a research method, with the intention of contributing to the training of other individuals. At the end of this work, I realise that my entire career at university has contributed to me becoming a teacher/artist in training.

The Colonial and National Formations of the National College of Arts, Lahore, Circa 1870s to 1960s
Drawing on archival sources, this book provides an anthropological exploration of the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, tracing its evolution from the Mayo School of Arts established in 1875. As a counterpart to London's South Kensington School of Design (now the Royal College of Art), the Mayo School emerged as a crucial site for the dissemination of colonial art education in British India, alongside similar institutions in Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras. Named to honor Lord Earl of Mayo, the only Viceroy of India assassinated in office, it was founded by Lockwood Kipling and featured a distinguished roster of educators including Ram Singh, Percy Brown, Lionel Heath, S.N. Gupta, B.C. Sanyal, and A.R. Chughtai. The Mayo School also initiated the Journal of Indian Art and Industry, a seminal publication utilizing cutting-edge chromolithography techniques. The book employs theoretical analysis to understand how the NCA, functioning as a bureaucratic entity, has shaped the landscape of design education, museums, and artistic practices in both colonial and postcolonial contexts. From its roots in British art education, derived from South Kensington, the institution's trajectory reflects its adaptation through American reforms in the early years of Pakistani independence. This analysis critically examines how frameworks of art history and anthropology have been mobilized to construct and objectify Pakistani art and artists. Furthermore, the book explores the contributions of colonial anthropologists such as Richard Temple, Denzil Ibbetson, and Baden Powell, who were instrumental in the establishment and administration of the Mayo School. Their work in ethnographic reconstruction provided a cultural framework that influenced the education of artisan castes, situating them within a "primitive" Punjabi context. This colonial subtext profoundly impacted the pedagogical approaches of the Mayo School, which also nurtured the emergence of the Indo-Saracenic architectural style and supported traditional Punjabi painting. Despite its industrial art orientation, the Mayo School was pivotal in the development of a modern Punjab painting tradition recognized at the British Indian Empire Exhibition of 1924. Under the guidance of Lionel Heath, the school began to embrace modern art, with printmaking, graphic design, and sculpture taking root in the 1930s through the efforts of B.C. Sanyal and M.M. Hussain. The Mayo School's printing press produced a diverse array of materials, reflecting major Western art movements from Arts and Crafts to Art Deco and Bauhaus. In the formative years of Pakistan, the Mayo School transitioned into the National College of Arts in 1958, modeled after the Bauhaus with departments in Fine Art, Design, and Architecture. Influential figures such as poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, painter Shakir Ali, art patron Ghulam Mueenuddin, and American sculptor Mark Sponenburgh were pivotal in shaping the NCA as Pakistan's premier institution for art and design. Through a critical examination of art history and anthropological frameworks, this book elucidates how imperial and nationalist discourses have intersected to shape and redefine artistic and cultural identities within Pakistan.

Naturalism's Imaginary Museum, French Art, and the Eclectic Nineteenth Century
Naturalism's Imaginary Museum, French Art, and the Eclectic Nineteenth Century examines one of the most revered art historical narratives of Western art: the famous turning point for painting and sculpture usually emblematized by the works of ?douard Manet and then the Impressionists.Instead of the usual revaluation of this turning point, Sara Pappas argues for the importance of the failure to find a cohesive story for the art world in the period itself, a difficulty that carries forward to galleries today. In order to demonstrate the importance of incongruity and disorder, Pappas brings together two worlds that may seem incompatible: nineteenth-century literary writers involved in naturalism and the organization of permanent collections of later nineteenth-century French art in today's museums. Drawing on the art novels and art criticism of these writers, the book provides optimal access to the questions that continue to haunt the categorization and display of nineteenth-century art.
The Cellist's Notebook
'The Cellist's Notebook' is a charming, life-affirming tale of discovery surrounding an old family mystery. A young girl's curiosity, her love of a little melody and the beauty of a cello evokes memories long forgotten.Set in the present day, ten year old Emily Peters is spending the summer with her Nana Rose, a retired piano teacher, in rural Cumbria whilst Emily's sister Lizzie travels to Paris for a French exchange. When Emily notices an old photograph of a cellist dating back to the Second World War, and discovers cellos and an old music manuscript in the attic, her Nana tells of the touching and compelling story of her brother Leni, a linguist, cellist and music composer, whose disappearance was marked 'ultimate fate unknown' following World War II.Emily's love of the unfinished cello melody, found in her Great Uncle Leni's music notebook, evokes memories for her Nana Rose and Emily returns to Norfolk with a passion to play the cello and a determination to learn the long lost melody. A series of events unfold that change the life of Emily and her family forever.'This was such a beautifully written novella that I devoured in one afternoon. I was instantly captivated by the magical feel and found myself just enchanted by everything within it. For a book so short, it was so detailed and I found myself feeling like I was in Emily's shoes, and I love when a book does that to me. One of the things I loved most about The Cellist's Notebook were the gorgeous settings, and this, in turn, made me eager to visit them. My favourite by far was Nana Rose's house and the Cumbrian countryside. I am a sucker for a good country setting and from the way it was described I found myself wanting to visit Nana Rose myself.'

Kinfolk 54
This issue of Kinfolk, which publishes just in time for the holiday season, draws on our origins as a guide for small gatherings and celebrates coming together--whether round a table, at a wedding, for cocktails or during the holidays--as a meaningful pursuit. Of course, the art of togetherness can be a little more complicated for those hosting. To make the process easier, we've approached creative cooks, florists and artists for their expert ideas, tips and advice, creating a 64-page section full of inspiration for your next party. You'll find ideas for every occasion, from simple recipes for new drinks to serve on a Saturday night to advice on decorating a low-key (and low-cost) wedding. Elsewhere in the issue, we meet A.G. Cook, the hyperpop music producer who makes a case that even the most overplayed tunes on the radio can be feats of intense creative exploration. In Toronto, Matty Matheson shares insights from his experience as a chef, restauranteur and actor. Plus, we meet a muralist, ask whether millennials have ruined weddings, tour a restored Roman villa, and check in with a curator, a baby name consultant, a comedian and more. Since 2011 Kinfolk has established itself as a leader in art and culture, design and aesthetics, architecture, and homes and interiors. Our quarterly lifestyle magazine is sold in over 100 countries, published in three languages and makes the perfect coffee table magazine or gift for a creative. Featuring inspiring photography, fashion and style, as well as examinations of slow living, Kinfolk is an art and design publication that seeks to promote quality of life and connect a community of creative thinkers.
Paradigm of Information Design in China (2009-2019)
This scholarly work presents a comprehensive set of design paradigm research models developed by the author, encompassing a design classification model, a relational model among paradigms, and a descriptive indicator system for design paradigms. These models were employed to decode China's information design paradigm during the pivotal transition from 2009 to 2019, a period marked by significant advancements in information technology in China. The book reveals us that, China is forming an information design paradigm that focuses on long-term benefits and balancing relationships rather than creating artifacts, which is dually affected by the development of global information technology and China's domestic economic, cultural, and design education development strategies. Design practitioners are more and more willing to set design goals from the perspective of the supply-side and are carrying out extensive design cooperation on data-driven platforms. Practically, grasping this emerging design paradigm is essential for practitioners to understand the latest trends in information design. Theoretically, the design paradigm models offer researchers valuable tools for their investigations. This publication was supported by Guangdong Provincial Education Science Planning Project (Higher Education Special Project, 2023GXJK508) and Huizhou University Doctoral Research Initiation Project (2022JB051).
Armenophobia
Despite its incredible richness, the Armenian cultural heritage remains today at the margins of the art historical canon. The roots of this situation can be traced back to the second half of 19th century when Armenian art was deliberately marginalized by the official scholarship within the Russian Empire. By providing a historiographical examination of this context, we aim to demonstrate how medieval Armenian art became a tool in the Russian imperialistic policy. Besides, we also attempt to address the impact of the late 19th-century imperialism on our present.

In 1871 he set up a studio in Munich and it was here the initial "Turkestan Series" was painted."Does war have two sides - one that is pleasant and attractive and the other that is ugly and repulsive? No, there is only one war, that attempts to force the enemy to kill, injure, or take as many people prisoner as possible, while the stronger adversary beats the weaker until the weaker pleads for mercy" said Vasily Vereshchagin.
