This book is the first to carefully explore the male body in the work and life of Michelangelo. Renowned art historians address the topic from different angles: from the influence of anatomical studies and Classical Antiquity on his work, his adoration of the body of Christ, his adherence to Neoplatonic ideas of perfection and beauty, to his personal preference for the young male body and the exceptional artworks this resulted in.

Michelle H
Stunning redhead Michelle H is one of our most popular Metart models. At the time of writing, Michelle is rated #48, with a rating of 9.15 based on 3,943 votes, with 253,598 views and 5,111 followers. She has appeared on many other sites in the Network: The Life Erotic, Errotica Archives, Rylsky Art, Eternal Desire; and on Domai, Goddess Nudes and Erotic Beauty as Nalla. Most notably, she has starred in several very hot girl-girl movies on Viv Thomas, working with director Alis Locanta; while on SexArt she is a major star, with 27 photosets to date, three girl-girl movies (one with top model Nancy A and one with Sybil A) and an unforgettable boy-girl movie, "The Port". She's a sultry goddess, but with a gorgeous smile that makes her altogether more approachable. And then, there's that stunning figure, with big, beautiful natural breasts and a perfect ass. It's not just her looks that have made her so successful though; she's a smart and ambitious girl, who brings her unique vision to her own movies. We are blessed with many talented female directors throughout the Metart Network, but Michelle is the only one who is still active as a model for other artists while also shooting her own movies - and sometimes appearing in them herself. Her work as Red Fox here on Metart, on Metart X, and particularly her kinky, fetish flavored films on The Life Erotic, suggest she is a creative force to be reckoned with. Here's hoping she'll be appearing on both sides of the camera for a long time to come.

Mind Museums offers a fresh perspective on the heritage of mental health, bringing museums into sharp focus. Drawing on interdisciplinary approaches from architecture, museum and exhibition design, and heritage and museum studies, it examines former psychiatric asylums that have been converted into museums. The book presents a comprehensive investigation of mind museums, the first of its kind in Europe, and explores their potential in raising awareness and dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health. Through an indepth examination of selected European examples, Lanz describes what mind museums are and how they came to be. The innovative visitor studies carried out at the Museo di Storia della Psichiatria in Reggio Emilia, which are presented here, explore people's encounters with mind museums and reveal the profound impact of such experiences. By uncovering the power of these heritage sites in facilitating discussions on mental health, civility, and care, Lanz provides new insights into the emotive capacity of the museum and visitors' reflexivity at place-based memory sites.Mind Museums will be of great interest to scholars and postgraduate level students engaged in the study of museums, heritage, exhibition design, architecture, and mental health. The Spectral West
This book considers the presence of the supernatural and Gothic elements of the Western on screen. These dark and sinister undertones often exist in Western narratives to draw attention to the ever-present issue of death and its haunting resonance which characters encounter. This book examines this through key historic moments in Western film and its contemporary incarnations. The book detects imposing correlations in themes and currents between the Gothic and the Western relating to existential crisis and a loss of faith in ideologies and institutions. These themes represent the tensions between the old and the new, the deranged insistence on civility and order in a chaotic landscape, disillusionment and the shattering of faith in the natural order, and even nature and order themselves. The Western, just like the Gothic tale, reminds us that new frontiers are mired in the past, and optimism and survival are hunted down and haunted by guilt-ridden past and passed anxieties and traumas. This book demonstrates and illuminates the uncanny coalition that can be seen between these two traditions epitomised in the tales of the spectral West. Take, for instance, the seminal psychological Western of the 1950s, The Searchers (1956), where the unspoken horrors of the past haunts the behaviour of the anti-hero, Ethan Edwards (played by John Wayne) and is an omnipresent as well as a daunting presence which looms throughout the narrative of the film; or Sicario (2016) where a naive FBI agent (played by Emily Blunt) is horrified by the malevolence of inhumanity which haunts borders in conflict and makes a mockery of morality. But most important to both films, as well as to countless others, is the brooding presence of the landscape itself, which intrudes like a spectral entity. This tension has often presented a dilemma in such a recognisable genre. As Steve Neale has suggested, there is a problem with the 'central role of iconography in the Western'. It is as if, according to Neil Campbell, 'by the very nature of its mythic representations' there exists 'a type of hyper-reality, a simulation reproducing images conforming to some already defined, but possibly non-existent, sense of West-ness'. And yet, as the book demonstrates, rather than being hyper-real, and by definition not 'real', these mythic 'representations' are ghostly or spectral revenants. Through that process, we may then be able to distinguish, not indeed a problem or a dilemma, but a more deeply felt connection between the past and the present, between nature, space and time and any hope of a worthwhile future.

Selected Writings, Volume 1
Okwui Enwezor is widely regarded as a leader among the brilliant curators who emerged in the 1990s to set agendas for understanding the global expansiveness of contemporary art. Among his pathfinding exhibitions were the second Johannesburg Biennale (1997), the paradigm-shifting Documenta11 (2002), Archive Fever (2008), and Postwar (2016). In addition to breaking ground as a curator, Enwezor was also a prolific critic, essayist, and theorist. Selected Writings--a landmark two-volume set--brings together Enwezor's most influential and foundational works. Spanning a quarter-century, these selections reflect the depth and breadth of Enwezor's writing and its role in his tireless efforts to decolonize the art world. Volume 1, Toward a New African Art Discourse, includes fifteen essays written between 1994 and 2006. Drawn from exhibition catalogs, art journals, interviews with artists, art reviews, curatorial statements, historical studies, and book chapters, these texts show him striving to fulfil the first main ambition that drove his career: to found and sustain what he called a "New African Art Discourse." Demonstrating that his writing helped fulfill this goal, this collection reaffirms Enwezor's status as a transformational figure in the global contemporary art world.
The War of Art
How artists have changed America through direct action Artists in America have long battled against injustices, believing that art can in fact "do more." The War of Art tells this history of artist-led activism and the global political and aesthetic debates of the 1960s to the present. In contrast to the financialized art market and celebrity artists, the book explores the power of collective effort -- from protesting to philanthropy, and from wheat pasting to planting a field of wheat. Lauren O'Neill-Butler charts the post-war development of artists' protest and connects these struggles to a long tradition of feminism and civil rights activism. The book offers portraits of the key individuals and groups of artists who have campaigned for solidarity, housing, LGBTQ+, HIV/AIDS awareness, and against Indigenous injustice and the exclusion of women in the art world. This includes: the Black Emergency Cultural Coalition (BECC), Women Artists in Revolution (WAR), David Wojnarowicz's work with ACT UP, Top Value Television (TVTV), Agnes Denes, Edgar Heap of Birds, Dyke Action Machine! (DAM!), fierce pussy, Project Row Houses, and Nan Goldin's Prescription Addiction Intervention Now (PAIN). Based upon in-depth oral histories with the key figures in these movements, and illustrated throughout, The War of Art is an essential corrective to the idea that art history excludes politics.
