The Prostate Gland
A book for men and women from middle age to advanced years who have suddenly and unexpectedly become confronted with the huge effects that the male prostate can have on the body. It is a tale of what can happen to both men and women when the prostate transforms over time as the body changes, free of any of the minor or major taboos surrounding those involved. The book presents both a subjective and an objective account, from a female and a male perspective, of what the prostate is and of the physical, psychological and social effects that changes to the prostate can bring as one ages or reaches old age. The latest medical, psychotherapeutic and social measures available to help men with prostate issues and their partners are discussed. It also addresses the therapeutic taboos that have previously prevented us from attempting a systemic approach to the physical, psychological and social transformation that men and women undergo when they reach middle age and beyond.

Maya Lin, Public Art, and the Confluence Project
The first scholarly monograph devoted exclusively to this vital work of contemporary public art, this book examines Maya Lin's Confluence Project through the lens of environmental humanities and Indigenous studies. Matthew Reynolds provides a detailed analysis of each earthwork, along with a discussion of the proposed final project at Celilo Falls near The Dalles, Oregon. The book assesses the artist's longtime engagement with the region of the Pacific Northwest and explores the Confluence Project within Lin's larger oeuvre. Several consistent themes and experiences are common amongst all the sites. These include an emphasis on individual, multisensory encounters with the earthworks and their surrounding contexts; sound as an experiential dimension of landscape; indexical accounts of the multicultural, multispecies histories of each place; and an evocation of loss. The book will be of interest to scholars working in art history, contemporary art, environmental studies, environmental humanities, and Native American studies.
Rebus
Rebus is the documentation of an experiment. Once presented with the final result, the three artists involved were not convinced that it should be Shared. It lacks a central theme, other than three friends drawing/painting/cutting/gluing at a feverous pace and not concerned one iota about the final product. Many years later, sifting through this was not unlike an archeological dig where you peel back layers of time and information only to reveal more layers. There is no core Expression to Rebus, only the evidence of the Process. The three of us that made it remember creating aspects of it, but time and the work of the others involved has obliterated initial expressions. What remains is a Puzzle that deepens as you venture through it, with flashes of both humor and horror in equal measure along the way. We are no longer the individuals that made these pages, but they contributed to who we would become. We continue to collaborate and share what we make. Current and future projects are and will be more focused than Rebus is, but we had to wade through this Process together to emerge as more defined versions of ourselves. It is our Hope in sharing this puzzle that it will stir and ignite something within yourself and that you gather a few close friends to create work that will confuse and fuel others. Much like Art does.

The Aestheticization of History and the Butterfly Effect
'The Aestheticization of History and the Butterfly Effect: Visual Arts Series' introduces the audience to philosophical concepts that broach the beginning of the history of Western thought in Plato and Aristotle to that of more modern thought in the theoretician Jacques Ranci癡re in which the main conceptual framework of this anthology is predicated. The introduction is mainly concerned with Ranci癡re's concept of the distribution of the sensible, which is the arrangement of things accessible to our senses, what we experience in real-time and space- compartmentalization and categorization of all things. These things do not just involve tangible items, but audible speech, written language, and visibilities. Ranci癡re's theory of the regimes of art is undertaken as the unfolding of the distribution. Such is evoked in the various genres of visual art forms, from two-dimensional paintings to three-dimensional sculptures and architectures. Understanding the aesthetic regime of art is crucial for grasping how art performs time travel. One way of understanding this phenomenon is in terms of embodied philosophy imbued vis-?-vis art forms, which are subsequently challenged by contemporary artists. The contributing essays examine these reiterations, reevaluations-performances. Aesthetics is a term deriving from the 18th-century European Enlightenment. It is here that aesthetics as the study of beauty is probed for its political potential after the failure of the French Revolution. Many major thinkers during this period signed on to the aesthetic moment, recognizing that Reason in its present state failed to develop humankind beyond barbarism. J.E.B. Stuart's statue is part of an equestrian theme that approximates the Western canon of power and class in the pursuit of domination. But such power and domination will be dethroned in the restaging of history and the redistribution of said canon. This reimagining of the form not only alters perception but constitutes a new narrative.

Art in Hong Kong
Art in Hong Kong is a fascinating analysis of the history, current status and possible future of Hong Kong as an international art hub, written by a local journalist who has reported on the city's cultural landscape for many years. Enid Tsui presents a balanced and insightful picture of recent changes in the city which was once the poster-child of artistic freedom in Asia as well as the undisputed leader of the region's booming contemporary-art market. Some of Hong Kong's traditional advantages now look precarious following new laws imposed by China curbing freedom of expression and the city's long period of isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet despite the exodus of talent from Hong Kong and growing uncertainties over the 'red lines' of censorship, there are more world-class art institutions in the city than ever before and the market has proved resilient, with international auction houses and galleries continuing to expand their presence there. This book lifts the lid on a diverse art scene in a city of fascinating contradictions: a former British colony where artists have long been inspired by the interplay between east and west, and where the new M+ museum and other venues have to tread a tightrope between celebrating a distinct and vibrant culture based on different influences and abiding by the new national security regime.

Gender Violence, Art, and the Viewer
The works covered in college art history classes frequently depict violence against women. Traditional survey textbooks highlight the impressive formal qualities of artworks depicting rape, murder, and other violence but often fail to address the violent content and context. Gender Violence, Art, and the Viewer investigates the role that the art history field has played in the past and can play in the future in education around gender violence in the arts. It asks art historians, museum educators, curators, and students to consider how, in the time of #MeToo, a public reckoning with gender violence in art can revitalize the field of art history.Contributors to this timely volume amplify the voices and experiences of victims and survivors depicted throughout history, critically engage with sexually violent images, open meaningful and empowering discussions about visual assaults against women, reevaluate how we have viewed and narrated such works, and assess how we approach and teach famed works created by artists implicated in gender-based violence. Gender Violence, Art, and the Viewer includes contributions by the editors as well as Veronica Alvarez, Indira Bailey, Melia Belli Bose, Charlene Villase簽or Black, Ria Brodell, Megan Cifarelli, Monika Fabijanska, Vivien Green Fryd, Carmen Hermo, Bryan C. Keene, Natalie Madrigal, Lisa Rafanelli, Nicole Scalissi, Hallie Rose Scott, Theresa Sotto, and Angela Two Stars. Ghosts in the Wall
Najda in Ghosts in the Wall: a series of paintings by Stephen NajdaThe art of Stephen Najda crosses many boundaries, over a wide spectrum of subjects, and a multitude of techniques. A complex individual with a deep curiosity and an extraordinary fertile mind that crosses a huge range of subjects that coalesce into art in an attempt to articulate the known fundamental interactions of the universe and forms of matter. Often called Renaissance man, Najda is a precociously talented and prolific artist bringing a multidisciplinary background in science and art, mixed with an insatiable appetite for adventure and travel. Stylistically placed between Matisse, Picasso and de Kooning, Najda features expressionistic figures representing the primitive self in big, bold, hugely imaginative paintings.'Ghosts in the Wall' was painted by Najda 'en plein air' in an old ruined sanatorium where the Nazi's committed atrocities in eastern Poland. The painting is done with large gestural brushstrokes of abstract expressionism, improvised by fingers, paint applied straight from the tube, marked with brick from the sanatorium to create a smeared, smudged, raw physicality, resembling a kind of organised chaos. This is a painting that comes from the deep as Najda absorbs the history of the location, re-enacting the scene of insanity on canvas. This is one of Najda's most intense works. It's a primordial experience - think of Francisco Goya, Hieronymus Bosch, Francis Bacon, or Zdzislaw Beksiński.

Fame
Fame as one of the qualities that we achieve through our quest to be more, is not just the part where you become someone known for what you are and what you good at. We sometimes find ourselves locked inside our own world and deeds, of which some you could have known, while others you have no idea what they could be arising from. However, now they have occurred, and without realization you are stuck at that place where you didn't expect to get lost, and that kind of wonder in our lives can have you looking everywhere for all that you are and you can never find a solution. At some point you understand that without that part of your life where you have dedicated yourself to everything that you know, you can never be happy at all. Somehow you feel that you will need strength and motivation from deep inside that can help you rise above all that you have ever been and be that worthy human being. You can end up looking for a way or a solution to something which you don't know or which you can never find a way. You can go through a situation or a setback which the solution isn't there, yet if you can ever breakthrough and achieve that fame you become a new person. Given that without lying we are so much where we are imprisoned by our own self-esteem and, or our past, and one can try to breakthrough in a glance, however it can never be an easy thing to accomplish. There are different stages where you might be stuck and feel that you are somewhere inside yourself and you can try anything to achieve what you truly deserve to be. Yet somehow a little bit of yourself is not where is supposed to be, and if you don't fully prepare yourself for what you want to be, you can keep roaming around in circles without ever finding that last piece of everything that you are. Part of it is that you will need all that you are to get to where you want to, because without a doubt you must find all that you are before you satisfy your inner desire.

Smart Cities Integrating Technology in Urban Planning
A smart city is a city that uses information and communication technology (ICT) to increase operational efficiency, improve the quality of government services provided, and thus raise the level of well-being of society. The main goal of a smart city is to optimize urban activities and promote economic growth along with improving the quality of life of citizens. The value of a smart city is the efficiency of technologies, not their number. A successful smart city has a strong, technology-based infrastructure that enables environmental initiatives. In this city, public transportation is effective and efficient, and urban programs are carried out in a reliable and progressive manner. Smart city technology consists of different dimensions and aspects and it is not possible to consider it as a comprehensive approach. Also, dividing the city into different dimensions helps the progress of each sector.

Some unique artwork is included in the book as well.A Gift from GodGod gave me a gift thatI wasn't sure I deserved. He was ever so kind andPerhaps a bit reserved. He stole my heart awayIt caught me by surprise.I found it hard to believeBut he said he liked my eyes. God decided it was timeFor me to be content. It took a while to see but I knew just what it meant. I had finally done my timeBut never saw my worth. The years were quite unkindBut He led me to rebirth. Millennial Nasties
Torture porn, shock-for-shock's sake, violence that doesn't serve the plot, and characters you hate - what was going on in the 2000s in horror cinema? And why were audiences hungry for it? Millennial Nasties takes a critical but appreciative look at an oft-ignored subset of horror. This book dissects the English-language horror films of the 2000s and the cultural events they were responding to. Processing tragedy and war throughout the world, keeping pace with films from other countries, and swinging wildly away from the safe horror of the 1990s, the 2000s brought grisly kills and shocking gore to cinema audiences and home viewers. Films once dismissed as torture porn, their nasty slasher friends, and the remakes of this era have found a new home, and that home is a subgenre called Millennial Nasties. Foreword by Zo禱 Rose Smith, founder and owner of Zobo With A Shotgun and EIC of Ghouls Magazine.

Redout矇. Roses
The revered tradition of botanical illustration dates back to the Renaissance. It emerged from the desire to catalog nature in its unpredictable splendor, and the process demanded the most precise and talented of artists. With a remarkable skill that captured the most intricate subjects in nature, Pierre-Joseph Redout矇 is widely considered the best painter and engraver of botanical illustration. Working from live plants rather than from the herbarium specimens gave his watercolors unusual subtlety and freshness. He was also an innovator in printing techniques, introducing "stipple-engraving" to France, always striving for greater exactitude in his art. Redout矇 fortuitously acquired some of the most influential patrons of the time, including Marie Antoinette and Empress Josephine Bonaparte, thus ensuring that his work was well-funded and displayed. His impressive collection comprises over 2,000 paintings of plants rendered with great accuracy and strict adherence to nature. In this exquisite edition of Les Roses, Redout矇 turns his attention to the most romantic, desirable, and evocative flower. Originally published in three volumes between 1817 and 1824, it remains his most famous and celebrated work.
