Five Lectures on Psychoanalysis
In fall 1909, Dr. Sigmund Freud gave a series of five lectures at the 20th anniversary celebration of the opening of Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Joined by other speakers, including Carl Jung, this lecture series helped to disseminate the ideas of psychoanalysis on an international stage. Dr. Freud (b. 1856, d. 1939) was the founder of psychoanalysis, the clinical procedure of evaluating and treating mental disorders through revealing unconscious desires and repressed memories. While his work is not as popular today as it once was, it was revolutionary in its approach and has permeated nearly all of Western culture. Dr. Freud was a prolific writer and lecturer. In 1909, he made his only visit to the United States, where he presented this series of five lectures. Dr. Freud originally presented them in German, without notes. Freud later wrote them down, and translations were first published in The American Journal of Psychology in April 1910. The five lectures describe the origins and development of his theory of psychoanalysis, as far as it had reached in September 1909. In the first lecture, Dr. Freud explains how his colleague, Dr. Breuer, developed the foundations of psychoanalysis when Freud himself was a student. Dr. Breuer had a patient who was suffering from a long list of ailments, including paralysis on her right side, impaired vision, nausea, and the inability to speak. Attributing these symptoms to that vague malady "hysteria," Dr. Breuer attempted a "talking cure" with the patient and worked to discover her "psychic trauma" through hypnosis. The patient improved, and Drs. Breuer and Freud determined that unprocessed memories of traumatic experiences were causing her illness. In the second lecture, Dr. Freud shares the next evolution of psychoanalysis, in which he abandoned hypnotism. As he learned that not all patients could be hypnotized, he instead worked with them in their normal state. Through conversation and suggestion, Dr. Freud drew out the repressed memories that the patient couldn't normally recall, resolving the conflict between the patient's conscious and unconscious. In the third lecture, Dr. Freud moves on to the interpretation of dreams. He believed that dreams could reveal repressed wishes, if the true meaning could be ascertained. Through techniques like free association, Dr. Freud believed he and the patient could unlock the symbolism of dreams to reveal repressed desires. Freud's fourth lecture explores a topic that he knew to be controversial-how often he found that symptoms of disease root back to "impressions from the sexual life...and necessitate the assumption that to disturbances of the erotic sphere must be ascribed the greatest significance among the etiological factors of the disease." He acknowledged that this was not a popular view among his peers. But he found that when patients realized they could "disregard conventional restraints" in a doctor/patient relationship, they revealed truths that very often pointed to sexual causes. Finally, Dr. Freud discusses "transference," that phenomenon by which a neurotic "applies to the person of the physician a great amount of tender emotion." This process is crucial, he believed, in helping the patient to gain insight into their relationship patterns. It was his belief that bringing repressed desires into consciousness would help people to master them or sublimate them, for the good of both individuals and society. While Dr. Freud's trip to America was not perfect-he found Americans far too informal-he was delighted to find that the faculty at Clark University was familiar with his work. As Freud said himself in his autobiography, the trip was "the realization of some incredible daydream: psychoanalysis was no longer a product of delusion, it had become a valuable part of reality."

Hyperefficient
Optimize your life using science-backed advice and discover how to get your brain working at peak efficiency. A FINANCIAL TIMES must-read business book of the month. A NEXT BIG IDEA CLUB must read book for September. We all know how to nudge our brains to perform better. A strong cup of coffee helps us get through a dull meeting, and a brisk walk helps us think more clearly. But what if some nudges could optimise how we focus, create and process information even more effectively, to take mental performance to new heights? Today, most office workers are expected to operate with industrial-era efficiency. Yet the work that matters most in our technology-dominated workplace - generating brilliant ideas, solving complex problems, and learning - can't be manufactured like outputs on an assembly line. Instead, we need a new, HYPEREFFICIENT way of working: rather than imposing the rhythms of work on our brains, Dr. Mithu Storoni proposes we impose the rhythm of our brains on our work. Storoni explains that our brains function like a car's engine, with multiple gears that put our brains in optimal mode for different mental challenges. Drawing on the latest research, she shows us how to seamlessly shift our brains into the best gear for the tasks we need to be doing, so we can perform at our best throughout the day, every day.
Racism's impact on Black nursing.
This qualitative phenomenological research study explored nursing educators' meanings of phenomenon of racism and their perceptions of the effects of racism on Black nursing stud Predominately White Institutions (PWis). In an online qualitative survey and individual interviews, faculty, staff, and administrators of PWI nursing programs discussed meanings racism, their understanding of the obstacles Black nursing students face at PWis, and suppo systems in place for Black students in their nursing programs. The researcher selected Criti RaceTheory (CRT) as the theoretical framework for this study, with an understanding that I students are often faced with greater challenges to completing nursing programs than their counterparts. The attrition rate is higher among Black nursing students at PWis than it isfor other students (Eudy &Brook, s2022) and Black students experience racism more often thr students of other races (Ackerman-Barger et al., 2020; Hall &Fields, 2012.)Findings from study indicate that there is an awareness among educators of the effects of racism on Black nursing students. However, poor communication and lack of personal accountability for

Psychology and Health Promotion in the Public Sector
Since 2008, with the implementation of the Health Care and Safety at Work Policy for Federal Civil Servants, the debate on health care for federal civil servants has intensified. The policy is being implemented through health units run by a multi-professional team, in which psychologists play a key role. This study discusses how health-promoting psychological practices have been developed for civil servants within the National Social Security Institute (INSS), based on reflections on the challenges of conducting worker health actions in the organisational space and outlining the role of psychologists in public policies. Interviews with psychology professionals at the INSS pointed to an important moment of questioning about the effectiveness of health promotion actions focused on individuals' lifestyles and the emergence of molecular movements in the form of strategies committed to empowering workers to transform the organisation of work, articulated with the perspective of a clinical psychology that is transversal to workers' health in the organisation.
My Brother's Keeper
A leading psychiatrist seeks to transform our understanding of mental health care and how it fits into larger social and economic forces--and proposes an effective and compassionate new framework for healing. Mental health care in America has become nothing short of atrocious. Supposed developments in treatment methods and medication remain inaccessible to those who need them most. Countless people seeking treatment are routinely funneled into homelessness and prison while a mental health epidemic ravages younger generations. It seems obvious that the system is broken, but the tragic truth is that it is actually functioning exactly as intended, providing reliably enormous profits for the corporate entities who now manage mental healthcare. It is easy to turn a blind eye. Most of us are more comfortable ducking our own fears about mental health and placing our faith in the rugged American individual and the free market, rather than confronting our own prejudices and misguided beliefs. Why did we choose to build such a disastrous system when every other industrialized nation has developed far better models? After decades of work in psychiatry, Dr. Nicholas Rosenlicht reveals how and why we arrived at this abysmal reality--and more importantly, how we can find our way out of it. Timely and unflinching, and written with commanding prose and the deep knowledge of a mental health care veteran who categorically rejects corporate interests, Dr. Rosenlicht makes plain the disastrous outcomes of the for-profit mental health care model. Patients are "clients" and doctors are "providers," stripping away the human element and emboldening shifty ethical and legal practices. Perhaps most insidious, the business model paints the mentally ill as the "other," as people who just don't want help, rather than someone who can't afford care or even realize they need help as a consequence of their illness. But a path forward does exist. Mental illness is something that will touch all of us in some way, if not directly through those we know and love. Those who have already helped care for a loved one know that those who suffer from it have hopes, desires, and aspirations. A healthy solution means a healthier society. In the tradition of Andrew Solomon or Bessel van der Kolk's The Body Keeps the Score, My Brother's Keeper is a paradigm-shifting book that can help us find our way to real and lasting solutions.

Anger as a/moral emotion
The book delves into the analysis of anger as both a moral and amoral emotion. It investigates whether anger is indeed one of the basic emotions or if it is a social and linguistic construct, denoting a concept associated with the human mind. The author subjects the concept of anger to an analysis of its semantic domains, as well as a conceptual analysis regarding what it signifies and means to us. Anger is analyzed from philosophical-phenomenological perspectives, as well as from the viewpoints of cognitive sciences, evolutionary psychology, and social psychology. The significance of anger in both phylogenetic and ontogenetic development is explored. Through a deeper understanding thereof, avenues toward its better and more effective management are elucidated.

Observing the Other
Peter Buckley's engaging essays open a door into the worlds of psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis, yesterday and today. A door not into the clinic, but to the end of the day, with a fire in the study, a glass of wine close at hand, and opportunity to share the thoughts of an intelligent, self-critical, and very likeable friend. The essays range from Freud's early cases (and the understandable mistakes he made with brilliant corrections), through to the current development of psychoanalysis with multiple models of theory and treatment. Detours, to the burning of witches, transcendental experience in psychosis, the structure of the mind originally conceived in Greek philosophy, the post-Enlightenment rise of Romanticism-all fill out a view of wide interest to the general reader, as well as invaluable for psychiatrists and trainees in psychoanalysis and psychiatry. Above all they stress the humane face thatpsychiatry and psychoanalysis must always develop, but is always at risk of losing.-J.J. Wright, MD, DSc, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Auckland

Interrelationships between Racial and Gender Discrimination and Social Exclusion
This study sought to analyse the interrelationships between various forms of discrimination suffered by black Brazilian women, descendants of enslaved black African women. The general aim of the research was to analyse the role of discrimination in the trajectory of black women in Youth and Adult Education (EJA). More specifically, it focused on the following social markers: race, gender and class. A qualitative research methodology was used. To this end, individual semi-structured interviews were carried out in a school on the outskirts of Bras穩lia - DF, with eight self-declared black women, students in Youth and Adult Education - EJA. The Content Analysis technique was used to guide the interpretation of the interviews. From the field research carried out, it was possible to understand that racism and sexism are structural elements in Brazilian society, affecting the life trajectory of the black women surveyed in various ways, including the maintenance of their historically subalternised condition.
Literacy Instruction for Students Who Are Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Most students who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) struggle with acquiring literacy skills, some as a direct result of their hearing loss, some because they are receiving insufficient modifications to access the general education curriculum, and some because they have additional learning challenges necessitating significant program modifications. This second edition of Literacy Instruction for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing updates previous findings and describes current, evidence-based practices in teaching literacy to DHH learners. Beal, Dostal, and Easterbrooks provide educators and parents with a process for determining which literacy and language assessments are appropriate for individual DHH learners and whether an instructional practice is supported by evidence or causal factors. They describe the literacy process with an overview of related learning theories, language and literacy assessments, and evidence-based instructional strategies across the National Reading Panel's five areas of literacy instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The volume includes evidence-based writing strategies and case vignettes that highlight application of assessments and instructional strategies within each of these literacy areas. Crucially, it reviews the remaining challenges related to literacy instruction for DHH learners. Educators and parents who provide literacy instruction to DHH learners will benefit from the breadth and depth of literacy content provided in this concise literacy textbook.
The Science of Free Will
This groundbreaking book sheds new scientific light on the age-old question of free will. Humankind evolved to flourish by creating a new kind of society, which required an advanced mind capable of recognizing possibilities and making good choices. No other animal operates amid economic marketplaces, shared moral principles, legal systems, religious and political institutions, and the like. Rather than getting bogged down in philosophical debates, The Science of Free Will surges ahead to explain how this marvelous, newly evolved mental system works. Some actions are freer than others, so how does one recognize and take advantage of this freedom? Key features involve grounding actions in time and pondering multiple possible futures--indeed understanding one's life as a story, in which one's actions link past, present, and future-and conscious thoughts, including logical reasoning, planning, and overriding one's first impulse. Understanding free will in this fashion reveals both the powers and the limits of the human mind.
The Impact of Bariatric Surgery from the Perspective of Male Cancers
Bariatric surgery or stomach reduction surgery refers to a set of surgical techniques that help to drastically reduce weight. Aimed at morbidly obese patients, its purpose is to take the risk out of life. Today it has become a major medical investment and an instant solution to all the problems associated with obesity. This work was exploratory in nature and sought to study the impact of bariatric surgery on the couple relationship from the perspective of male spouses. Obesity surgery was a 'path' found as a magic formula to solve a problem that has multiple dimensions, and therefore leaves gaps and thus a need for research. This study sought to symbolise the meaning of surgery for husbands and how it affected their relationship. Surgery comes as a necessity for change, and thus dislodges the relationship. Separating isn't easy, it's surgery, in this case, surgery for two.
The Development of Generativity Across Adulthood
This volume brings together experts in generativity and related fields to provide a compelling overview of contemporary research and theory on this topic. Generativity refers to a concern for - or acting towards - the benefit of future generations as a legacy of the self; it has implications for outcomes at the individual, relational and social, and broader societal levels. Understanding the role and expressions of generativity at various stages of our lives is important to our sense of well-being and purpose, and it impacts our parenting, caregiving, and social relationships, as well as having implications for our activities and experiences in the workforce, and in voluntary activities in our communities and the wider society. The chapters in this volume explore the meaning and impact of generativity across development and across life contexts and roles. They address generativity within a particular area or life domain, or period of the lifespan, and outline key methods and findings, as well as theoretical issues and applied implications. The volume represents the first comprehensive exploration of generativity from early to late adulthood; it offers a broad international perspective and will inform research into generativity across multiple cultures.
Integrating Psychotherapy and Psychophysiology
In recent years there has been growing interest in exploring how psychophysiology can be used to enhance psychotherapeutic interventions, and it is becoming more common for psychotherapists to use psychophysiological approaches such as biofeedback as a part of their therapy. Integrating Psychotherapy and Psychophysiology explores how these fields can be integrated to improve therapy outcomes, and to provide a guide to professionals in the field. Structured in three parts, the first part focuses on theories underlying psychotherapy/psychophysiology integration with chapters on the neuroscience of mind, evolution and compassion, heart rate variability and mind/body integration, and affect and understanding the world. The second part focuses on assessment aspects of psychotherapy/ psychophysiology integration with chapters on the NIH Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) approach to assessment of psychopathology from a psychophysiological perspective, personality as a central factor in stress and cardiovascular reactivity and using the RDoC framework to understand and conceptualize personality. Finally, the third part focuses on approaches to integrating psychophysiology into psychotherapy, emphasizing heart rate variability biofeedback. The book will be valuable for all psychotherapists who are looking to improve their practice by integrating effective mind/body principles into their therapeutic approach.
Neuropsychological syndromes in focal lesions of frontal lobes
In this work for the first time an attempt to study the structure of subcortical frontal syndromes of the right and left hemisphere with the allocation of their qualitative features is made, which will serve to understand the principles of organization, diagnosis in the implementation of higher brain functions, development of adequate methods of rehabilitation of disturbed functions in frontal lesions. The obtained data suggest that a large specific weight in the violation of higher brain functions in right- and left-hemispheric patients consists of defects of neurodynamics (spontaneity, activity and pathological inertness), which have different signs of manifestation and different distribution by groups. The results of the study are of certain importance in the theory of neuropsychology, psychology and neurology for solving the ideas about functional asymmetry of frontal lobes of the brain not only in the organization of higher, but also elementary brain functions. The highlighted intergroup differences of the syndromes may indicate the functional difference of rostral, medial and lateral structures of the right and left frontal lobes at the subcortical level.
Eating Disorders
The prevalence rate of eating disorders in adolescents ranged from 11-28%.More adolescents girls engaged in disordered eating behaviors compared to adolescent's boys. Risk of disordered eating attitude was twice as high among females as in males. Dysfunctional eating behaviors was higher in obese than in normal weight adolescent. Risk of disordered eating attitude among obese adolescents was two to times higher than that of non-obese, in both genders. Healthy body composition and high levels of physical fitness were found to be the protective factors for eating disorders in young adults. Eating disorders were associated with more emotional and peer problemsProblematic profiles of family functioning exhibiting lower levels of cohesion and flexibility and higher scores on the sub dimensions of disengagement, enmeshment, rigidity, and chaotic characteristics were found to be the risk factors of eating disorders in adolescents. Bodily shame was found to be a significant factor related to ED risk in obese adolescents. Group based and parent group intervention programmes had positive benefit in terms of eating disorder symptom reductions and BMI reduction especially in females.
A Neurophilosophy of Libertarian Free Will
This book offers an intellectually fierce defence of Libertarian Free Will seen from a neuroscientific and biological perspective. Tse argues that causation in living systems is dominated by non-linear goal-seeking automatic feedback loops and a continual criterial reparameterization of what will count as an adequate solution to goal fulfilment. For this reason, outcomes are neither determined nor random. That is, for each cycle, outcomes could have turned out differently than they actually did. Humans, he argues, have two kinds of libertarian free will. One type concerns the ability to choose freely and is shared with other highly developed animals. Second-order free will, in contrast, is uniquely human, and concerns envisioning a new self, then working toward the realization of that vision over a long period of time. As such, free will is understood to be centrally realized in acts of imagining and deliberation, whether free actions follow or not.A Neurophilosophy of Libertarian Free Will discusses these key philosophical issues considering the latest data and theories of neuroscience and will be of interest to academics, students, and anyone interested in the issue of Free Will.
Psychological and physical security
The textbook is devoted to the study of psychological and physical safety of people. There is an increase in financial fraud, telephone fraud and marriage scams, sexually transmitted diseases, and sexual violence. This manual will help the student to understand what is psychological and physical safety and how to protect themselves from fraudsters and rapists. Profiling is discussed in detail and how knowledge of these issues will help to keep oneself safe and understand what a person is and what can be expected of them.
Conflict Mediation in Schools
Conflict is a natural part of our lives and this qualifies it as a relevant topic for study. Interactionist theories in philosophy, psychology and education are based on the premise that we constitute and are constituted through direct or mediated relationships with others, whether of a subjective or objective nature. Therefore, we are faced with differences and similarities which in turn force us to compare, discover, re-signify, understand, act, seek alternatives and reflect on ourselves and others. Conflict can therefore be considered the raw material for our psychic, cognitive, affective, ideological and social constitution. It is worth remembering that reading this book can contribute to a reflection on how to orientate and mediate internal and external conflicts, taking into account the impartiality of your peers.
Raising Anxiety
What if our good intentions are contributing to the rise in children's anxiety?Parents, teachers and schools invest more care and effort than ever before to ensure children reach their potential. Yet today young people seem more anxious and less capable of navigating the milestones of childhood and young adult life.Is the kind of care and support we provide inadvertently increasing children's anxiety?Could the special accommodations we give to some children make their anxiety worse?Clinical psychologists Dr Danielle Einstein and Dr Judith Locke have combined forces to show why we are in this situation. They discuss how a perfect storm of today's popular approaches to caring for children, altered beliefs about how best to support them, and easier access to technology is making children more anxious and less prepared to face typical tasks and experience the normal joys and satisfactions of life.RAISING ANXIETY shows you how to turn this situation around and encourage your child to become resilient, confident and ready for the challenges of childhood and beyond. Judith and Danielle give you practical strategies to help your child face their day-to-day responsibilities, handle the complexities of interacting with others, and positively use technology. They also include a new approach to managing worry which will help you and your child tame your anxiety. These techniques have helped thousands of families clinically and in talks for parents and teachers. Now they can help you too.

Mindfulness for Life
Mindfulness is exceptionally easy to get started with, and people often experience benefits almost immediately. This next-generation resource brings mindfulness home by teaching core skills in easy-to-integrate ways that touch directly on life's daily challenges. Dr. Kuyken provides stepping stones to help you build a personal practice that is sustainable, purposeful, and richly rewarding--now and for years to come. Youth Unemployment in the 1980s
Youth unemployment is one of the most critical problems generated by any recession. Widespread changes in the structure of the youth labour market, together with the increasing affluence amongst the employed, meant that the experience of unemployment for young people in the 1970s and 1980s was quite different from that of previous decades. Originally published in 1988, this book examines the psychological consequence of prolonged periods of joblessness among a national cohort of 16-19 year olds. It places the problem in a historical context and then examines evidence for the effect of unemployment on the work ethic, motivation to work, the search for jobs, psychological health, political views, lifestyles and early careers. Particular attention is paid to gender and ethnic group differences. Original research was integrated with existing literature with the aim of bringing together a wide variety of studies and theoretical positions previously dispersed throughout the literature.
Good Counsel
William James is arguably America's most important psychologist and intellectual. While a thriving literature on Jamesian thought exists, Good Counsel: A Walking Dialogue with William James fills the gap between the passing paragraph or two about James in undergraduate textbooks and the dense academic literature of Jamesian scholars. By offering an interesting and inspiring introduction to James, this book brings a new generation of minds into the Jamesian conversation. Written as a dialogue between William James and some of his famous students, such as Theodore Roosevelt, Gertrude Stein, and W. E. B. Du Bois, Good Counsel provides an introduction to the important elements of Jamesian thought and seeks to inspire students to explore further. While not a formal critique of James, this book does not shy away from highlighting potential weakness or challenges to his thought. By the book's end, readers should have a solid grasp of basic Jamesian concepts, including what he meant by radical empiricism, pluralism, experience (especially the stream of thought), attention, freedom, truth, reality, God, rational belief, moral claims, moral solitude, consciousness, sentiment (how it drives reason), mysticism, and pragmatism. Furthermore, they should understand the interconnections among these concepts and the objections or alternatives to them (e.g., monism, determinism, reductionism, idealism, rationalism, etc.).
The Importance of Psycho-Oncology in Breast Cancer Treatment
Psycho-Oncology is the union of Psychology and Oncology, aimed at multidisciplinary care in cancer centres, providing better acceptance of the diagnosis and helping throughout the treatment process and supporting patients in the devastating and often mutilating situations that treatment causes. Psychologists play an important role in the treatment of women with breast cancer, especially in surgical procedures where total removal of the breast is unavoidable. The aim of this project is to describe and discuss the importance of Psycho-Oncology in the oncological treatment process and its work with breast cancer patients. The results of the project suggest that psychological factors can influence the way in which women with breast cancer find it difficult to accept the diagnosis and the changes taking place in their bodies. This points to the importance of psychotherapeutic counselling, together with medical care.
Academic background and job market
The main objective of this study was to investigate the professional trajectory of graduates from the doctoral program in Psychology at UFMG. Postgraduate studies in Brazil were instituted in 1965 by means of opinion no. 977 of the Federal Education Council, which established the definitions and characteristics of postgraduate studies in the country, despite having been provided for in the Statute of Brazilian Universities since 1930.This study analyzed the professional trajectory of 88 female (56) and male (32) PhD graduates from the postgraduate program in psychology, with different times of professional insertion over a period of seven years (2012-2019). The results showed that of the total sample, 73 graduates (83%) currently work as teachers in public and private higher education. The number of graduates working as teachers coincides with the literature, which indicates that universities are the main employers of PhDs. The results also indicate that teaching is no longer a complementary activity for psychologists, but has become an exclusive area of activity.

To the forgotten ones in this worldlanguishing in the marginslost between words and linesThe neglected in the alleysWhom are not present in the group photosOr in phone notesThe marginalized in the path of life.Whose spots of light do not recognize themThough they hadn't been composing it beforeThey never hadTo the forgotten faces in the album of lifeAnd to those old voices coated with dust on the shelves of memoryTo those whom no one knows them anymoreAnd no one remembers themOr miss their absenceIn fact, their sufficiency in this world is that God, the Almighty, knows them well, and this suffices them for glory, pride and honour.I dedicate this book only to them.By reading some books with all our senses, we are able to enjoy a spiritual connection with sentences and words, and an intellectual connection with them...So, I embraced the book of my father, Khaled al-Jariwi, and hid among its folds with love and care. The lightness that carries light between the lines of this book tells the story of all those who will be attracted to it through its letters. After reading the book while I was navigating it, I discovered my father again in a totally different way.I knew him as a kind and generous man, a man of generosity and principles, in his conduct and behavior towards God, and in his dealings with people.

Pornography as therapy for marital loneliness
It's no secret that today's Western, African, Asian and other societies are profoundly individualistic, promoting self-realization as a generalized ideal. This ideal of a self-realized individual is not without tension with that other ideal characteristic of modern societies, the one identified under the term sex education, i.e. the application of moral and ethical values without relying on satisfaction in private relationships under the aegis of shared affectivity. This tension is expressed in the existence of a contemporary paradox which I have identified under the term "marital solitude", and which leads to a central question: "How can we ensure that marital solitude is eradicated within the couple and affirm the complete disappearance of sexual isolationism while privileging dialogue which relies more on the pornographic tool in the context of arousing sexual opinion or desire in oneself and one's partner?" The aim of this book is to question the way in which the problem of marital solitude is tackled, and to propose a response.
School problems and the psychology of human morality
Violence, a multifaceted and socially recurrent phenomenon, has long since invaded school walls. There are many reports of violence at school, ranging from symbolic, verbal and physical violence. As such, this study aims to find out and analyse what 6th grade primary schools teachers from two public schools in the city of Maring獺 (PR), located in different neighbourhoods and with different histories of violence, think about school violence and the development of human morality and their possible relationships. Finally, this study has led to the conclusion that theories of moral development, both in their theoretical and methodological aspects, have become fundamental in the search for dialogues that promote more maturation of concepts such as: dignity, justice, kindness, solidarity and respect for other human beings, with the aim of promoting peace education and, in this way, significantly cancelling out violence and its trivialisation, especially in schools.

We used the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Short Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36).QoL of women with PCOS was significantly impaired compared with controls (p
