National Freemasons League
National Freemasons League is a book that examines the secret society of Freemasons that runs the cabal-or deep state-as President Donald Trump calls it. The book peels back the layers of what the public is consuming when they choose to be an NFL fan, from a former NFL wife who was on the inside. The book details how fans are financially supporting the system that has stolen brains, ruined childhoods, and destroyed marriages. It is not just a book for football fans. It is a book that puts a microscope on what has caused droves of first responders to "burn out" attempting to create order in a society sickened with "walking brain injuries," a term coined by the brilliant Dr. Daniel Kelly, of St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, CA. It is a book that highlights what teachers, doctors, lawyers, and so many other great humans are tasked with doing the dirty work for evil, or having themselves targeted by the NFL Freemasons. Dawn's goal with this book is to put the monopoly-laden NFL out of business. Dawn states that you cannot consume a sport whose byproducts are ruined brains, ruined childhoods, and destroyed marriages, in America.

Ragged Glory
"South Africa will have been a free nation for 20 years in 2014. This is the story of how three men - Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma - tried to shape its destiny in very different ways. Mandela helped usher in a new democracy with the formulation of one of the best constitutions in the world. But his leadership was not without its flaws as, under his watch, the first seeds of corruption were sown by the predatory elite. Mbeki brought a dark, complicated personality to the presidency and abandoned Mandela's consultative approach for a more confrontational one. His focus on building South Africa's economy was his greatest success but his failure to seriously address the AIDS epidemic in South Africa was an embarrassment and a tragedy. Jacob Zuma's presidency saw the rise of a chauvinistic elite which questioned the very foundations of the new South Africa and its constitution. Under him, a new, arrogant, security elite began to roll back the human rights culture. Ray Hartley, by focusing on the ups and downs of three presidencies, has created a rich, complex narrative. In two turbulent decades, South Africa has won its place at the table of free nations, but has lost its moral authority. "
Rogue

Now, in this extraordinary account, they finally get to put the record straight. There was no 'rogue unit'. The public had been deceived, seemingly by powers conspiring to captures SARS for their own ends. Shooting down the allegations he faced one by one, van Loggerenberg tells the story of what really happened inside SARS and shares details of some of the unit's real investigations.
Nextgen Marxism
Many Americans believe that the United States is in decline. They see a country that has become unrecognizable: where individuals are reduced to their race, ethnicity, or sexual identity; where children are indoctrinated into radical ideologies; where anti-semitism has become widespread. This book explains how all of these ills are rooted in Marxism. To be sure, it is not Soviet Marxism, but a Marxism that was shaped by European intellectuals, adapted and refined by America's student radicals of the 1960s, and diffused throughout the culture as those student radicals became professors, community organizers, and leaders. The end goal of these NextGen Marxists is expropriation, redistribution, central planning, and collectivism. They are working toward nothing less than the cultural transformation of the United States--and they have partially succeeded. But NextGen Marxism: What It Is and How to Combat It is infused with optimism. It reveals the dark inner workings of the radical left's destructive agenda in the United States in order to teach Americans how to fight back. The authors share their conviction that the best days for the United States are still ahead of us if every day Americans can work together to restore sanity and make America the great beacon of freedom once again.
The Product-sharing Village
"The Product-sharing Village" by Walter Thomas Mills explores the concept of cooperative economics and village life rooted in socialist ideals. The book presents a vision of a community where resources and products are shared among its members, fostering equality and mutual support. Mills delves into the practical aspects of establishing such a village, examining its economic structure, social organization, and potential benefits. He advocates for a system that prioritizes collective well-being over individual profit, aiming to create a more just and sustainable society. This work offers valuable insights into alternative economic models and remains relevant for those interested in socialist thought and community development. Hind Swaraj
Hind Swaraj is one of the most significant works of Mahatma Gandhi, which he penned during his return from England to South Africa in November 1909. Banned by the oppressive British Empire in 1910, this book is a clarion call for Indians to realize the criticality of unshackling from the bondage of imperialism. It encouraged Indians to take pride in its all-encompassing cultural and civilizational heritage. Making Satyagraha a vantage point to understand Gandhi's life philosophy and works, this volume champions the ideas of non-violent resistance, freedom and interdependence for Swaraj. How can a state, its government, institutions and citizens create an ideal ecosystem of mutual relationships based on trust, non-violence and respect for growth and development? A must-read for policymakers, history enthusiasts, students and scholars of Gandhian studies, sociology and politics, it is one of the most compelling works to understand Gandhi's vision for a self-reliant India.

Toppling the First Ministry
Toppling the First Ministry, by T. M. Thomas Isaac and Richard W. Franke, tells the story of the CIA's covert operations against India's first Communist ministry. When Kerala, the south-west Indian coastal province, established its first Communist ministry in 1957, it immediately drew up a development schema rooted in plans to redistribute land and provide public education and healthcare to all. But as quickly as it began executing its vision, Kerala's efforts were disrupted by anti-communist agitation that succeeded in toppling the ministry with the help of the CIA. To this day, the CIA has not claimed any direct role in toppling Kerala's government Kerala is not alone. From Guatemala to Iran to the Congo to Brazil, to Indonesia and beyond, the CIA put up the financing to generate street mobs, groomed thuggish political bosses to do the CIA's bidding, organized private armies that answered to the CIA, bought and controlled media and individuals, assassinated popular leaders, and toppled elected ministries in an effort to maintain or establish U.S. control of the political and economic systems. One could see the story of Kerala as just one more tragic example of the CIA's successful efforts to manipulate the course of history and disrupt everyday life in countless emerging post-colonial nations following WWII. And yet, Kerala stands apart as an exceptional case, remarkable for what it managed to achieve: a redistributive strategy of development and consequent high quality of life for its ordinary citizens, initially at a relatively low level of economic growth. Since then, bolstered by subsequent intermittent left-led governments, Kerala`s democratic development alternative has continued to flourish. Drawing upon the recent revelation of thousands of pages of documents via the Freedom of Information Act, Isaac and Franke offer a detailed examination of the internal workings of the CIA and its local Kerala allies in subverting and ultimately overthrowing the newly elected ministry. They also show how, against all odds, Kerala continues to be a stronghold of the left in India and even across the globe.

The Declaration’s Forgotten Liberties
Thomas Jefferson was not chosen to write the Declaration of Independence merely because he was well-liked or could turn a good phrase. He was selected because, two years earlier, he had already articulated every principle and nearly every grievance in his June 1774 "Summary View of the Rights of British America." Jefferson had even written all the grievances for the Rough Draft of the Declaration of Independence, nearly word for word, almost a month before. Though thoroughly prepared, Jefferson experienced an epiphany while drafting the Declaration: he envisioned a new social contract, creating not just a new nation but a new kind of people-no longer "subjects" but "citizens."It is widely believed that Jefferson drew heavily from fellow Virginian George Mason for the principles in the Declaration. However, a comparative analysis of original source documents reveals a different story, thoroughly debunking this near-universal misconception. The Declaration of Independence is a powerful narrative asserting the inherent rights of man and making a compelling case for independence from Great Britain. Jefferson supported this case with 27 grievances, what he called "a long train of abuses," inflicted on the colonists by King George III. Each grievance tells a story of liberty, many of them long forgotten-until now.
Competing for Legitimacy
This book answers the question of why and how people form bonds with each other and with insurgent groups in fragile state contexts. It develops an overarching framework depicting a political social contract, presents the Grievance-Driven Pathway as one way through which a reformist insurgency-society contract can form, and conducts a systematic comparison using two novel case studies not yet evaluated in insurgency literature, the UFDR in the Central African Republic and the SLM/A in Darfur, Sudan. The core claim is that perceptions of legitimacy across the four social contract elements lead to consent to form the intangible "bond" and foster societal and political trust. Studying social contracts--specifically the interaction between state-society contracts and reformist insurgency-society contracts--facilitates a greater understanding of what constitutes legitimacy in the twenty-first century and how perceptions of illegitimacy can lead to a breakdown of trust and the outbreak of violent conflict.
Policy Space Conflicts in Global Trade Politics
Policy Space Conflicts in Global Trade Politics delves into the structure, driving forces and contemporary influencing factors of trade relations dynamics, providing insights into the present and future trajectories of the global trade order. The post-pandemic global governance challenges combined with the concurrent, if not concomitant, escalation of economic rivalries between great powers are catalysing a weakening of the liberal international order, undermining the very foundations upon which contemporary global production network is built. With the return of geopolitical tensions, the conflict over global governance versus state governance has again become the nexus where global trade politics are contested and negotiated. This book presents the Policy Space Conflict framework, an analytical framework that diverges from extant concepts of policy diffusion, power transition, socialisation and neo-liberal institutionalist models of analyses, and is instead advanced as a framework that renews the classic concept of 'policy space' - the space left for one to freely use preferred national policy instruments when integrated into the globalisation and institutionalisation process in the past decades. The tensions inherent in and arising from policy space can be captured in the term 'policy space conflict', illuminating the dynamic shifts regarding the convergence of rules under globalisation and de-convergence concerns of states. This book emphasises the underlying logic and motivating rationale that lie beneath the evolution of 'policy space conflict' by theoretically revisiting the concept, providing an overview of its forms in history since the Bretten Woods and transitions from market-oriented to strategy-based. This exploration is examined using case studies drawn from real-world trade politics, which encompasses discussions on the decline of multilateralism, the asymmetry in development between the Global South and Global North and China-US institutional contestation. This book will be of interest to scholars in the fields of international relations, law, political economy, political science, economics and international trade as well as a broad range of audiences who are concerned of global trade politics in times of global uncertainty.

Towards Non-Unidisciplinary Research in European Studies
This book not only defines what European Studies actually mean, but also considers how non-unidisciplinary research could be conceptualized in this field. As an alternative concept for inter-, cross-, trans- and multi-disciplinary studies, non-unidisciplinary European Studies, as defined in this volume, represent a conscious choice to look beyond what is normal. From various disciplinary starting points, the contributors step out of their discipline, giving perspective to pervasive norms and actively incorporating different approaches. Through this, the volume analyzes the motivations to engage in non-unidisciplinarity and develops new methods for European Studies.

Visibly Invisible
Revealing the overlooked power of Black women in reshaping American democracy.Black women have written more of America's laws than most people realize-and yet, their names are missing from public memory. In Visibly Invisible, Dr. Sherice Janaye Nelson delivers a bold, data-rich account of the legislative leadership of Black women in Congress, from Shirley Chisholm to today's trailblazers.Nelson's research reveals that, per capita, Black women sponsors introduced more bills than any other group in the U.S. House across five decades-and often without recognition. Through combination profiles and thorough quantitative analysis, she uncovers how their visionary work shaped policy in education, healthcare, voting rights, and economic equity, even as institutions and media failed to credit them.Visibly Invisible is a lineage-defining political and historical study, and a corrective framework for understanding power, authorship, and representation in America.

Scheming Virtuously
Scheming Virtuously: The Road to Collaborative Governance is an invitation to subversion, but also a somewhat personal account of the displacement of the dominant governing regime (Big-G centralized government) by small-g collaborative governance, in a world where power, resources, and information are widely distributed. In this new world, the citizen's burden of office is clear: to be a producer of governance. Scheming virtuously is the order of the day--active engagement, imaginative problem-reframing, astute organizational design, and effective action within the bounds of the appreciative systems in good currency and beyond.
Pasquinade in E
Pasquinade is a satire or critical comment traditionally posted in a public place in ancient Rome; in particular, on the statue of Pasquino. Pasquinades in E is my contribution to this waning tradition. These essays are exercises in critical thinking. They aim at exorcising a number of mental prisons about aspects of governing, and at denouncing pathologies in our ways of thinking and governing ourselves, by exposing their toxic nature. Silence on such matters connotes tacit agreement with toxic nonsense and, therefore, guilt by association for the ensuing mal-governance.Four ensembles of pathologies are considered. First, institutional pathologies: the toxic effect of the Charter of Rights, of certain special commissions of inquiry, of the creeping power of super-technocracy, and of the rampant invasion of legal corruption. Second, impostures and sophistry that have derailed the democratic conversation: weasel words, academism, fundamentalisms, demonization and psychosis. Third, toxic trends that are crippling the democratic process: the rhetoric of promiscuity, oikophobia, hyper-toleration and the politics of guilt. Fourth, a sample of redesign challenges dif ult to meet because of social blindness and powerful interest groups standing in the way: the National Capital Region, higher education in Ontario, the Armed Forces, the RCMP, the Of e of the Auditor General, the culture of the federal public service, and the notion of stationary population policy as fata morgana.I will be delighted if the reader is provoked and amused by this attack on doxacracy - a democracy dependent on ill-founded opinions - and saddened if the reader is not.

Stewardship
This first volume in the Collaborative Decentred Metagovernance Series scopes: - what is meant by collaborative decentred metagovernance and stewardship;- how this new problematique has emerged;- on what assumptions and key concepts it is built;- the central role played by inquiring systems in public policy; and- how it can be used to throw some light on wicked policy problems in policy domains like health, productivity and innovation, as well as on persistent and perplexing issues like the need to strike a new balance in conflicts with Aboriginal communities over such things as the illegal tobacco trade and self-governance.This book explains how collaborative decentred metagovernance combines forms and styles of governance being experimented with in the private, public and voluntary sectors, to ensure effective coordination when no one can legitimately lay claim to being in charge because power, resources and information are widely distributed into many hands, and governance must, of necessity, be decentred and collaborative.
The Price Is Wrong
"Standard theories of the causes of climate breakdown will not survive this book. Readers will be all the wiser."--Andreas Malm, author of How to Blow Up a Pipeline Why the market will never solve the climate crisis What if our understanding of capitalism and climate is back to front? What if the problem is not that transitioning to renewables is too expensive, but that saving the planet is not sufficiently profitable? This is Brett Christophers' claim. The global economy is moving too slowly toward sustainability because the return on green investment is too low. Today's consensus is that the key to curbing climate change is to produce green electricity and electrify everything possible. The main economic barrier in that project has seemingly been removed. But while prices of solar and wind power have tumbled, the golden era of renewables has yet to materialize. The problem is that investment is driven by profit, not price, and operating solar and wind farms remains a marginal business, dependent everywhere on the state's financial support. We cannot expect markets and the private sector to solve the climate crisis while the profits that are their lifeblood remain unappetizing. But there is an alternative to providing surrogate green profits through subsidies: to take energy out of the private sector's hands. An essential intervention, The Price Is Wrong is as politically far-reaching as it is factually illuminating.
The Trump Carnival
Donald Trump's campaign and presidency represented a radical departure from political norms that are often classified by media and researchers as 'populist'. Instead, this book theorizes Trump's campaign and presidency with reference to Mikhail Bakhtin's "carnival" - a medieval festival of transgression, ridicule, and renewal. In this book, Lisa Gaufman and Bharath Ganesh provide a closer insight into the Trump Carnival, developing interdisciplinary perspectives on populism, misogyny, misinformation, and far-right vernacular culture. Building on the idea of the carnivalesque, this book focuses on the laughing culture of the Trump campaigns and presidency that vilified minorities, disparaged women, and ultimately emboldened the far right. Bringing Bakhtin into dialogue with key developments in contemporary politics, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in the Trump phenomenon, American politics, and populism.

Moderato Cantabile
Canada has engaged in an immigration policy experiment of momentous importance over the last 25 years: it has almost doubled the flow of new immigrants. This has not only strained Canada's absorptive capacity and the common public culture, and increased the costs of immigration for Canadians, but it has also led the more recent cohorts of immigrants to experience much greater difficulty integrating into their new homeland, causing them to fall more and more below the level of income of the Canadian-born.Canadians have been disinformed by officials, the intelligentsia and the media about the real impact of mass immigration on the economy and about its potential capacity to counter the effect of the aging of Canadian population. Canadians have been hoodwinked into accepting that maximum diversity is optimum diversity. This book questions certain toxic myths in good currency about immigration, points to grievous administrative pathologies about the selection process of immigrants, and proposes new guide posts to shape a principled Canadian immigration policy - based on fair play and rules of hospitality - that include a clear understanding that permission to become a member of the host society must not be granted unconditionally. Moral contracts with newcomers should define the expectations of the host country as the quid for the quo represented by the entitlements that are afforded to the newcomer.
Twelve Dreams of Rome
In an increasingly fragmented society, a sense of community is spreading, driven by visionaries and dreamers. Over the last decades in Rome, citizens have reappropriated public spaces in which they can congregate, they are reanimating their neighborhoods, fighting the housing crisis, empowering women and gender minorities, protecting and enhancing the environment, providing opportunities for the young, and promoting independent culture and sports activities accessible to everyone. From Quarticciolo to Trastevere, Marina Engel invites us to explore twelve remarkable experiences of community regeneration in the Eternal City. She recounts the stories, motives, fears and dreams of its inhabitants, determined to combat neo-liberalist ideology and the urban politics it imposes to follow a collective dream of the city of the possible.About the AuthorMarina Engel was born and grew up in London. She has worked as an independent contemporary art curator in Switzerland and for many years curated both the contemporary art and architecture programme at the British School at Rome. She collaborates with a number of British and US architecture journals. What Readers Think About the BookMarina Engel offers a rich recounting of community in Rome. This book becomes an essential guide into examples of community-powered action promoting accessibility and opportunities for all within the city's diverse population and public spaces.Ellie StathakiArchitecture & Environment Director Wallpaper*Among the thousands of surveys of Rome, Marina Engel - a foreign resident in Rome for decades - adds a remarkable study that focuses on issues previously missed by many analysts. The object of her compelling research is the citizen-led movement of communities and social groups who are activating an approach to urban regeneration that mainstream politics has not been able to pursue.Pippo CiorraSenior Curator, MAXXI Architecture, RomeIn recent years there's been a lot of talk in the architecture and planning community about concepts such as "co-design," public engagement, collaboration, and equity. The ideas are often loosely defined, in a sort of deliberate one-size-fits-all attempt to connect to the zeitgeist. But what do all these ideas really look like in practice? Look no further than Marina Engel's new book, Twelve Dreams of Rome. The author reports on the citizen groups organizing all over the capital, in an attempt to protect homes, public spaces, and neighborhoods from rampant real estate speculation. Much of this is done in collaboration with architects and designers, who in turn are showing what real co-design, authentic public engagement, and genuine collaboration looks like. The book is a great primer for our politically uncertain future.Martin PedersonWriter, Editor and Executive Director Common Edge

For Honest Citizens Only
Many people today feel worn down by noise, conflict, and a public culture that rewards outrage instead of honesty. But discouragement is not our destiny - and resignation is not an option for responsible citizens. For Honest Citizens Only offers a clear, principled path forward. It shows how everyday people can stay grounded, thoughtful, and morally steady in a time when distractions, pressure, and competing narratives make it harder than ever to think clearly and act with integrity.Rather than focusing on politics, this book centers on character, responsibility, and ethical citizenship. It challenges readers to strengthen their own thinking, examine the choices they make, and contribute to a healthier public life - one built on respect, truthfulness, and personal accountability. As the nation reaches new milestones and faces new challenges, the question is not which side will "win," but what kind of citizens we choose to be. This book invites readers to rise to that responsibility, bringing honesty, clarity, and courage back into everyday civic life.A timely and compelling guide for anyone committed to integrity, thoughtful citizenship, and a healthier public future.

Lessons from ”Walden”
Original and passionate, Lessons from Walden presents a wide-ranging inquiry into the nature and implications in the works of Henry David Thoreau.Henry David Thoreau's works are a backbone of American political philosophy, but how do his ideas translate into the tumultuous modern political landscape? Bob Pepperman Taylor closely examines Walden and Civil Disobedience, focusing on the philosophical questions Thoreau raises. He considers simplicity and the ethics of "voluntary poverty," examines the role conscience plays in democratic policies, and the truth of what "nature" means, and what, if anything, we can learn from it today. By drawing on a wide range of perspectives--from historians, philosophers, and popular media--Taylor breathes new life into Thoreau's work and shows how it is still alive for us today. He allows all sides to have their say, even as he persistently steers the discussion back to a nuanced reading of Thoreau's actual position. With a tone of friendly urgency, this interdisciplinary tour de force intersects American literature, environmental ethics, and political theory to address the concerns facing the current political landscape and the future of democracy.

Reconsidering Global Environmental Governance
Reconsidering Global Environmental Governance: Coloniality, Extractivism, and the Pursuit of Environmental Justice employs the concept of coloniality to examine the relationship between global environmental governance and environmental justice.Global environmental governance is perceived to be the natural solution for global environmental problems; however, its liberal emphasis reproduces colonial hierarchies at the expense of marginalized groups in the Global North and South alike. To develop this argument, this book draws on case studies that elucidate multiple expressions of coloniality in instances of socio-environmental conflict. With a focus on extractivism, the authors explore case studies in Greece and Honduras to illustrate the impact of existing global environmental governance institutions on marginalized groups and local communities, as well as case studies of gender and multispecies justice to highlight the opportunities and limitations of efforts to challenge liberal governance institutions and provide new pathways for enhancing environmental justice.Overall, the book aims to initiate a debate on how to decolonize global environmental politics and will be of particular interest to teachers, researchers, and students of environmental studies, global governance, development studies, political ecology, international political economy, and critical theory, as well as policymakers and civil society specialists.
Youth Voting Rights
This book uses the history of the 26th Amendment and the ongoing fight to promote and defend youth voting rights as a prism through which to teach the history of the struggle for the fundamental right to vote in the United States. The book centers on case studies of four institutions - Tuskegee University, Prairie View A&M University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Bard College - which offer unique insights into the role of college communities in the fight for suffrage, and their contributions to the evolution of the right to vote.
We Have to Stop It
The thing we have to do is stop it. This is what people who opposed the evil of slavery knew. This is what people who opposed the lynchings of black citizens knew. This is what those who opposed the genocide of the Vietnamese by US forces knew. This is what the people who oppose the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza and other parts of Palestine know. This is what the people opposing the kidnappings of workers, students and others know. This is what we all know, and but for our fear of losing our comforts or our status, we should be doing something to stop the intensifying repression we see around us.
