The Pondering Ape is a book about human experiences - not all, of course, since that would take a library full of books. Written in 31 poems followed by the author's discussion of the meanings, the book covers such themes as love, spirituality, psychology, consciousness and the general things we do as human beings. Paul Phillips is a human writing about being, well, human, highlighting the complex and often conflicting ways of defining who or what we actually are! Maybe you can ponder these themes that you may not have thought about before or even muse on some I have not covered. Enjoy being human with me.
Could It Be?
Could It Be? focuses on twelve biblical passages. Biblical stories about personal deliverance and radical change were frequently facilitated by something quite ordinary. What we called a miracle was often an ordinary act for God. If that is how God works, he regularly offers "miracles" to everyone, not just to special people in special situations. These passages about miracles, admonitions, and probing questions are prototypes of the human condition, making them extremely relevant because they are "OUR STORY" too.

Paris On My Mind gives the truths of the past for its readers to become victors instead of victims over social conflicts. The first two chapters give the author's early connection with Paris since his hometown, St. Joseph, Missouri, had a French founder, Joseph Robidoux. After participating in a conference, "A Language To Dwell In: James Baldwin, Paris, and International Visions" at the American University in Paris in May 2016, the author wrote his book. Baldwin depended on religion and the wisdom of the past in confronting social ills. Blacks, Whites, young, and old can use the wisdom of the past to conquer their adversaries. Eugene Crowley taught English grammar and World Literature for 32 years in Chicago's Public Schools. He has a master's degree in General Psychology. Skye Ablaze
The 19th century saw a series of spiritual movements sweeping through the Isle of Skye as well as other Hebridean Islands. These were times of ferment and change as well as years of hunger, desperation and emigration. Out of a population of some 25,000 in Skye in 1842 - it is said that hardly a home was not affected by the spiritual movement taking place at the time. This was to have a transformation effect on the population, socially as well as spiritually and, as a result of large scale emigration, in other parts of the world, especially the Maritime Provinces of the Canadian Atlantic Coast. Smaller but significant movements have also occurred in more recent times, the last being in 1980.
