By the Word Worked
In By the Word Worked, Fleming Rutledge exhibits a lifetime of wisdom gained from reflection upon the power of the Word of God to address, convict, comfort, and exhort the church. Rutledge contends that the Word of God is the very lifeblood of the church, with preaching, based upon Holy Scripture, calling the church into existence, determining its identity, providing its calling and commission, and enabling its faith in the ultimate triumph of its Lord. Despite Satan's interference, the revelation of God in his Word continues to show itself triumphant, relevant, transformative, and powerful in the modern era. Rutledge asserts that the continued proclamation of the Word of God is for the church life itself, never to be neglected even in the face of intense and targeted adversity. In this initial volume of the Parchman Lectures series, Rutledge provides an incisive presentation of the power of the Word of God in its verbal form of Christian proclamation. Her call is for the reader to rediscover preaching that is not centered on human potential and the authenticity of the self, but on a divine Word of God that comes to us from outside ourselves, the Word of the Gospel, a Gospel that is both powerful in its effect and urgent in its appeal. These lectures challenge prevailing practices and paradigms in preaching but also present a faithful vision of Christian proclamation that is effective "by means of the Word worked."
The Enduring Hold of Islam in Turkey
This is the first account in English of how Islamic religious orders dating back to Ottoman times have risen to dominate and define the future of Turkey, Europe's awkward neighbor and the major power in the Eastern Mediterranean. Given its determined program of secularizing the people both under and after the Ataturk regime, Turkey is often projected as a model for the compatibility of Islam with parliamentary democracy. In this absorbing book, journalist and writer David S. Tonge reveals the limitations of that secularization, and its progressive reversal, in what continues to be a profoundly religious country. He describes how Muslim Turks' religious identity has been taken over by branches of one of Islam's great religious orders, the Naqshbandis, whose profoundly anti-Western ethos was honed by British and French colonial incursions into the heartland of their faith. Tonge's history offers a salutary alternative to the wishful narrative developed by Western chancelleries during the Cold War, one which viewed Turkey as a westernizing democracy. The revival of both Turkish nationalism and Islam helped President Erdogan's rise to power, and will shape the regime that succeeds him--illuminating and understanding Turkey's realities of faith and religious politics has never been more important.

Zamzam of Spiritual Knowledge
To understand how the Shaykh guides a disciple through their body, it is essential to know that all points of the body are interconnected through blood vessels, which, in turn, are all connected to the heart. The task of the accomplished Shaykh is to navigate the disciple through their body via these vessels until they reach their heart. Once there, they can experience the secret that Allah has instilled in them. This secret is indeed the source for the disciple. This secret is their Zamzam.During more than two years of devoted service at Zāwiya Karkariya, Sidi Shaykh, may Allah sanctify his secret, bestowed upon us the permission (idhn) to translate into French the teachings he imparted nearly every day after the ʿasr prayer, and on Fridays following the ḥaḍra. We broadcast these teachings live on social media for the benefit of French-speaking disciples. By his grace, this became an almost daily practice.
Quddús
This is the fascinating, real-life story of the son of a poor Persian rice farmer who rose to become the most illustrious disciple of the B獺b. Thoroughly researched and broad in scope, it is a story of the rugged journey, filled with pathos and exhilarating triumph at every turn, during the five short, eventful years he spent in absolute servitude to the B獺b. We experience the vivid details of a life which left no room for settling down, as he valiantly approached the centre of an intense, ever-increasing maelstrom at the very inception and birth of a new world religion, fraught with opposition and intrigue, yet filled with spiritual confirmations culminating in an unprecedented climax.
Dissolving into Being
Dissolving into Being is an introduction to Sufi philosophy, a tradition based on theteachings of Ibn 'Arabi (d.1240), Sufism's most influential master. His voluminouswritings offer a treasury of wisdom, yet their vintage and complexity can limit theirpurview to experts. To help bridge the gap between specialized studies of Sufiphilosophy and a broader readership, Dissolving into Being offers a moderncommentary on key passages of Ibn 'Arabi's foremost work, The Gemstones ofWisdom, drawing out its profound insights on the unity of life, the reality of loveand the mysterious nature of destiny, death and what follows. In the process ofdoing so, the book explores key elements of the Islamic Sufi-tradition and offersan overview of the Sufi path of spiritual transformation, all the while pointing to thedeep resonance of Sufi philosophy with other religions and philosophies.Although such works are much more widely available for other (what we might call) mysticalphilosophical traditions, there is little available on Sufi philosophy that is notexplicitly oriented towards a strictly academic readership.
Sigmund Freud and the Jewish Mystical Tradition
2024 Hardcover Reprint of the 1958 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. In this pioneering work, David Bakan challenges the popular view of Freud as an entirely secular intellectual, schooled in modern culture rather than Jewish traditions. Bakan contends that the father of psychology was profoundly influenced by mystic lore about which he appeared to know very little -- and which represents the antithesis of scientific method. This work is based on the premise that Freudian psychoanalytic theory is largely rooted in the Jewish religion, particularly the mysticism of the kabbala. In a fascinating interpretation of the blend of personality and cultural history, Bakan explains how Freud's Jewish heritage contributed, either consciously or unconsciously, to his psychological theories. The author employs Freud's own distinction between being a Jew and the acceptance of Jewish doctrine to demonstrate the effect of Jewish mysticism in the formation of Freud's technical genius. With its focus on the ways in which Freud was and was not Jewish, this study offers a model example of the problem of Jewish identity -- as embodied by one of the giants of modern science, who professed to be both "infidel" and "Jew." -- Amazon.comContents: The problem of the origins of psychoanalysis -- Hypotheses relating the origins of psychoanalysis to Freud's personal life -- Psychoanalysis as a problem in the history of ideas -- Anti-semitism in Vienna -- The general question of dissimulation -- Did Freud ever dissemble? -- Freud's positive identification as a Jew -- Freud's relationship to Fliess and his other Jewish associates -- Early Kabbala -- Modern Kabbala -- The Zohar -- The Chmielnicki period -- Jewish self-government -- The Sabbatian episode -- The Frankist episode -- Chassidism -- The Moses of Michelangelo -- Some relevant biographical items -- Moses and Monotheism -- a book of double content -- Moses as an Egyptian -- Moses was killed by the Jews -- Freud's messianic identification -- Introduction -- The transition -- The hypnosis and cocaine episodes -- The discovery of the transference -- The "Flectere ..." of the interpretation of dreams -- Freud's paper on demoniacal possession -- The composition of the interpretation of dreams -- Accretion of meanings to the devil image -- The problem of scholarship -- Techniques of interpretation -- Sexuality -- Heimlichkeit.
The Sāṅkyha Darśana
Sāṅkhya Darśana is the oldest of the six philosophies of Bharat that follow the Vedas as their authority. The present edition of Sāṅkhya Sūtras comprises Sanskrit text, Roman Transliteration, and the first authentic English commentary. Sāṅkhya deals with the theoretical knowledge of embodiment (bondage) and disembodiment (liberation) of the soul. The study of this original text discards hypothetical theories claiming that Sāṅkhya does not believe in the existence of God. Readers and researchers will find that Sāṅkhya believes in God as the efficient cause of creation, but it does not believe in Him as the material cause, as is believed by most of neo-Vedāntists and neo-Sāṅkhyas. According to Sāṅkhya, prakṛti is the material cause. The readers will also discover that Sāṅkhya does not deal with the creation of the universe but with the creation of the physical bodies of the souls. To sum up, Sāṅkhya Darśana is the right key to understanding Vedānta, Upaniṣads, Vedas and other Śāstras. If one wants to delve deep into Brahma Sūtras and Upaniṣads, he/she should meticulously go through Sāṅkhya. Hope all readers will find this text most interesting given the present most authentic commentary in English in a simple and easily understandable language.

The Concept of Evil in Judaism, Christianity and Islam
The present volume of the series Key Concepts in Interreligious Discourses explores various conceptions of evil in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, including key terms from their respective sacred texts, major theodicy discussions and contemporary developments. Throughout history and even today, religious scholars and believers have struggled with the question of the origin of evil and how a benevolent God can allow evil to exist in the world. Why does a compassionate God not prevent deadly diseases or natural disasters? What do religions define as evil, and is God responsible for or even the creator of this evil? The articles, written by distinguished scholars in their respective fields, offer a variety of answers to such existential questions. The articles address topics such as the origin of evil, the responses to evil in sacred texts and religious traditions, and the role of human agency. Each author offers a critical analysis of these topics as well as recommendations for future research. The volume also highlights commonalities and differences among the three monotheistic religions.
Let There Be Light
Let There Be Light presents a scripturally based understanding of the Genesis creation narrative that aligns with the findings of modern science. Its transformative thesis is called the Week Within a Week Creation Model which generates a timeline that successfully matches the days of the Genesis creation story with the scientific age of the universe and the natural history of Earth. The creation of life, Adam and Eve, and Noah's Flood are also explained in a plausible, literal manner within the context of science. By reading this book, you can embark on an exciting, faith-building adventure of biblical discovery.
From God's Nature to God's Law
This study explores the ways in which theological ideas regarding the nature of God shaped the jurisprudential and legal landscape of Islam. Focusing on the traditionalist theological and jurisprudential thought of Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728/1328) and Ibn al-Qayyim (d. 751/1350), this study traces the way in which these towering scholars critiqued the dominant theological-jurisprudential tradition of their day, which was influenced by dialectical theology. Against the dialectical theologians, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim argued that an authentically fideist, consistent and rational theory of Islamic law could only emerge from an acceptance of the reality of God's voluntary attributes.
Separation of Church and Hate
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * In the spirit of George Carlin and Christopher Hitchens, the son of a former Catholic nun and a Franciscan brother delivers a deeply irreverent and biblically correct takedown of far-right Christian hatred--a book for believers, atheists, agnostics, and anyone who'll ever have to deal with a Christian nationalist. For more than two centuries, the United States Constitution has given us the right to a society where church and state exist independently. But Christianity has been hijacked by far-right groups and politicians who seek to impose their narrow views on government, often to justify oppressive and unequal policies. The extremists who weaponize the Bible for earthly power aren't actually on the side of Jesus--and historically they never have been. How do we fight back against those acting--literally--in bad faith? Comedian and broadcaster John Fugelsang finally offers the answers. In this informative, perspective-shifting book, Fugelsang takes readers through common fundamentalist arguments on abor-tion, immigration, LGBTQ rights, and more--exposing their hypocrisy and inaccuracy through scripture, common sense, and deeply inappropriate humor. It offers practical tips on how to debate your loved one, coworker, or neighbor on the issues that divide us using that Bible they claim to follow. But Fugelsang's message is about more than just taking down hypocrites. It's about fighting for the love, mercy, and service that are supposed to make up the heart of Christianity. Told with Fugelsang's trademark blend of radical honesty, comedy, and deep political and religious knowledge, Separation of Church and Hate is the book every American needs today. It's a rallying cry for compassion and clarity for anyone of any faith who's sick of religion being used as a cloaking device for hate.
The Rudashevski Diary
Yitskhok Rudashevski was taken to the Vilna Ghetto at age 13 and murdered at age 15. This is his diary, discovered in his final hiding place.'Today I turned 15. I feel ... a regret, a kind of nagging feeling. I wish to take back the year that has passed and keep it for later, for my new life. The second thing that I feel today is strength and hope. Today I turned 15 and live very much for tomorrow.'This issue of The Jewish Quarterly presents the diary of Yitskhok Rudashevski, a Jewish teenager in the Vilna Ghetto. An only child, Rudashevski was transferred to the ghetto at age 13 and used a small notebook to chronicle his experiences, wonder, hopes and regrets. The diary was later discovered in an attic that was the final hiding place for him and his parents. This remarkable translation of the diary from Yiddish provides a glimpse into the observations of a teenager whose belief in culture, history and knowledge defied the cruelty that surrounded him, all captured in his tender, honest voice. It is a crucial document of youth, innocence, and a refusal to be silenced.
History's Greatest Mystery
It is the most studied cloth in history. But is the Shroud of Turin simply a worthless fabric or is it a compelling chronicle of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ? History's Greatest Mystery: The Improbable Convergence of Four Images of Christ offers compelling evidence of the authenticity of the Shroud.By comparing and contrasting the evidence on the Shroud with that contained on two other historical pieces of fabric, the Veil of Veronica held in Manoppello, Italy, and the Sudarium of Oviedo secured in Oviedo, Spain, author and historian Paul F. Caranci begins to unravel the mystery. Using the plethora of available research into these cloths, and even unlocking information from some of the more obscure studies, the author offers a gripping argument for the Shroud's legitimacy.Further, Caranci demonstrates how the image of Divine Mercy, an early 20th-century painting directed by the hand of God, and centuries of Eucharistic Miracles, support the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin as containing evidence of both the passion and death of Jesus, as well as His glorious Resurrection.
Silent Meditation and the Gospels
Silent meditation in the Christian contemplative tradition is a prayer practice of learning the art of listening. To listen, one must do three things: be still, put self aside and be attentive. If one can do these three things, one will discover a depth of listening. Stillness and silence allow space for receiving. This book focuses on how these enable one to receive the gospels. It offers a weekly reflection over the three-year lectionary cycle to systematically teach the practice of silent meditation or pure prayer.Endorsements '...what a wonderful affirmation of the radical change of direction in Christian life andspirituality is witnessed by this book you are reading. It is a sign of the renewalof Christian wisdom in our time.'LAURENCE FREEMAN OSB, Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation'Silent Meditation and the Gospels is a book to be treasured. Spurgeon
The priority a pastor places on preaching is best measured by his investment of prayer. Wholehearted prayer reflects high priority and limited prayer means low priority. It is tragic when sermons are mechanically written as an academic exercise with a brief invocation and benediction! This book contains the tools needed to develop a pulpit ministry that is prioritized in prayer. Charles Spurgeon is a worthy example of balancing theological acuity and pastoral spirituality. His example as illustrated in this book will point the pastor to Christ and call him to give himself "continually to prayer and the ministry of the word."

Job's Response
The book of Job, found in the Old Testament of the Bible, contains the story of a man who suffers the loss of his children, wealth, health, and reputation.Job's Response retells the biblical account of Job's prayers and conversations in the aftermath of his calamity. The original story is closely followed, using quotations from the Bible to keep it on the rails. Ties to the rest of the Bible are introduced.Job experiences the grief that naturally results from his loss. He mourns. He seeks God, his sovereign Lord, who brought this calamity into his life.Friends, who come alongside with good intentions, become less than helpful.Job believes that God loves and defines him, according to divine purpose and desire. As he reaches out with unvarnished honesty, he disentangles emotions, hindrances, and contradictions. Along the way, he finds healing and once again embraces life.James, the brother of Jesus Christ, reflects on Job's example with these words: "You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy."Job's response to life is a biblical gold standard, displaying his perseverance, his identity, his engagement with others, and his process of healing. He exemplifies love, faith, courage, good character, and intimacy with God.
High Above the Heavens
When the pilgrim moves towards the holy shrines of the Ahlul Bayt, He should keep in mind that he is going to visit the Divine 'Arsh (the Throne of God) and during his whole travel, he must remember that he is walking on the Divine Arsh and soaring towards it; he sees that the dignitary whom he wants to visit isn't just the owner of the tomb, but he is the light of God, a light from which all creation originated and created, a light which is greatly superior to the Divine Arsh because the Divine 'Arsh has been created from it. According to this perspective, the height of the holy shrines of the Ahl Al Bayt is greatly higher than the skies up to the Divine 'Arsh.

Repackaging Christianity
"Alpha has become a global phenomenon and, in this well-researched and compelling account, it has now found its historian." --Professor Timothy Larsen (Wheaton College) for the Times Literary Supplement Alpha is a global phenomenon, one of the most famous and controversial brands in Christian evangelization. Launched internationally in 1993, it has attracted wide public commentary over the decades, not only among churches but also in mainstream television, radio and newspapers such as TheEconomist and TheNew York Times. Even Elle and Fabulous have covered Alpha. Over a million participants attend the course every year and it has been a powerful driver of Christian innovation and resurgence in a secular culture. Alpha's presiding genius, Nicky Gumbel, has won plaudits as a new Billy Graham for the modern age. As Alpha prepares to mark its thirtieth anniversary in 2023, Repackaging Christianity tells, for the first time the full accounts of Gumbel's dramatic conversion to Christianity along with other key figures such as the current Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. It chronicles the genesis of Alpha from its beginnings in the West London dinner party set of the 1970s, turbo charged by the influence of John Wimber and the Toronto Blessing in the 1990s to what is now an international movement 'to transform society' embraced on every continent on the world. Plenty of books, articles and doctoral theses have analysed and criticised Alpha from sociological and theological perspectives. But there has never yet been a full history of the fascinating story of this movement, until now.
The God Theory
As science integrates the in-depth knowledge of the physical world accumulated over the past three centuries, it will be channeled into a new and exciting line of inquiry that acknowledges the expanded reality of consciousness as a creative force in the universe and the spiritual creative power embodied in our own minds. This book summarizes the thoughts of an inquisitive, but open-minded, scientist. What I present here is a theory that looks promising, not scientific proof. It should not be surprising, however, if some of what I propose coincides with theories propounded by others who claim a more intimate relationship with the Almighty. After all, if I am on the right track, and if they are, it would be worrisome if we were not, ultimately, in agreement. All I ask is that you seriously consider the logic of my theory, especially if it challenges you to question what you were taught - in Sunday school, in catechism or, dare I say, in physics class. I offer this book, not as a theological treatise, but as a short, readable exposition of a worldview that can bring sense and purpose into individual lives, and tolerance and peace to a planet whose future is in serious jeopardy - in large part because of the irrational dogmatism of both religion and science. If I am correct, we are literally all one being (God) in many individual forms. Why, then, would we continue to harm one another?
The Many Gods Anthology Volume 1 - Hekate
The Many Gods Anthologies Volume I: Hekate offers a diverse and insightful look at one of antiquity's most enigmatic and powerful goddesses. This volume brings together in-depth research into her origins alongside personal stories from those who have felt her guiding presence and who has been inspired to delve deeper into her history, mythology, rituals and influence through different regions and centuries. She had, and has, many forms, many names and many functions. She is the Goddess of roads and crossroads, protectress of women and children, accompanied by dogs she is a goddess of the restless dead and she is the Soul of the World and Saviour. This first volume of the Many Gods Anthologies (series) honours Hekate's growing contemporary presence and highlights the scholarly and spiritual interest she continues to ignite. The anthology draws on archaeological findings and modern experiences to illustrate her far-reaching impact, transcending time and geography. Readers are invited on a journey through the layers of Hekate's ancient and modern significance, where the sacred past meets living tradition. From the Foreword by editor Vikki Bramshaw: "What follows in these pages is a selection of papers written from different perspectives about the goddess Hekate. It seemed appropriate to start the Many Gods Anthologies with the goddess Hekate, who has already undergone this wave of interest and whose worship has been firmly rekindled during the past few decades. What has been very clear is the amount of academic material supporting Hekate's history and worship and, by association, her rituals and magic. It is also appropriate to say that nothing is in isolation; like so many ancient Gods, the worship of Hekate and the use of her magic extends beyond the mortal boundaries of her native shores, with a wealth of academic research and archaeological evidence to support this. "From the essay "Many Named and Many Faced Goddess" by Sorita d'Este: "Where do I start an introduction to the Goddess of many names and faces? A Goddess who is a protector, saviour, guide, and companion? A Goddess who cares for the young and who has a role in guiding the restless dead? Or perhaps, the Goddess of witchcraft and sorcery, who was honoured by Medea - arguably the most famous magical enchantress of all time? I have dedicated more than two decades to researching and learning about Hekate. I spend a lot of time reading academic works and other literature, as well as listening to experiences modern-day devotees and practitioners of magic have with Her today. I have also been privileged to make pilgrimages to dozens of museums to see many of the ancient icons of the Goddess for myself. I have visited archaeological sites and their landscapes to imagine what life might have been like for those who knew Her name in ancient times and find context for the evidence they left behind. I have also visited modern temples, sanctuaries, and shrines that devotees in the here and now are creating for Her and spoken to others who are developing or hoping to create such spaces for Her. And all of this has taught me one thing - There is always more to learn!"
The Untold History Of Mahabharata
The main purpose of writing this book was to expose the myths and legends prevalent in the society related to Mahabharata. Secondly, it also became necessary to write this book so that the society gets to know the true facts about the history of the lunar dynasty. There are many questions mark on Mahabharata due to misconceptions and legends prevalent in the society. For example, (1) Was Asvatthama mortal or immortal?(2) Was Krishna god or super human being?(3) Was there a caste system or varna system in the society of that time?(4) Did Karna belong to a lower caste?(5) Did Krishna show his powers in lengthening Droupadi's saree during the dyuta-sabha?(6) Did Droupadi really say that the son of a blind man is blind? Was Droupadi the reason for the war?(7) Did Droupadi refuse to marry Karna in the Swayamvar, calling him a suta-putra?(8) Was Hanuman really sit on Arjun's chariot during the war?(9) Did Krishna really cover the sun during the war?(10) How will Kalyuga end?(11) How was Yudhishthira punished for his half lie?(12) Was the war of Mahabharata a battle for power or really a dharam-yudha?(13) Did guru Drona ask for Eklavya's thumb? If yes, was it because of Arjuna or anything else?(14) Who was superior, Arjuna or Karna? There are many more such questions of which answers are given incident-wise in this book that is written in a very simple English to make it easily read and understood by everyone.

Orthodox Liturgy and Anti-Judaism
Anti-Jewish sentiment in the Orthodox liturgy was and still is one of the main stumbling blocks for the Jewish-Orthodox Christian encounter. In the last five decades, this subject has often been mentioned during official dialogues between the two religious communities, but very few concrete steps have been made in academic or religious contexts on either side. This volume offers a selected anthology of contributions delivered at the conference "Byzantine Liturgy and the Jews", held in Sibiu in 2019. The collection covers the post-Byzantine, modern and contemporary periods of the Orthodox liturgy, considering both liturgical texts and artifacts. The work explores the reverberations of the much-debated anti-Jewish elements into the twentieth century and their reception by present-day believers. When My Absence Becomes a Moon
Praise for Laureta Rexha's When My Absence Becomes a Moon "Within wonderfully visual tensions-winter and spring, perception and truth, stagnation and rebirth, waxing and waning-Rexha reminds us to find the peace that is all around us: in a waterfall, a painting, a city, prayer. Stunningly delicate andimpactful!" -Crescent Reviews "Laureta Rexha's poems are a journey through a landscape of self-discovery, confession, and eventual contentment. Each poem captures a milestone in this journey." -Wael Almahdi, author of A Breeze from the East "Laureta Rexha establishes herself as a poet who explores and offers her own responses to the drama of modern humanity, from their relationship with the Creator to the individual's relationship with themselves amidst their crisis of alienation. Regarding the information conveyed in her verses, it can be said that it is measured and, for the most part, not explicit, requiring effort to decipher. This is certainly connected to the author's worldview, which is guided by morality and a belief in the recipient's ability to absorb subtle information." -Milazim Krasniqi, author of Rigjetja e Vetes "Both a profound observation on the facets of conversion and a love letter to God's creation, Laureta Rexha's When My Absence Becomes a Moon guides the reader through a rediscovery of humanity and the universe ... While inner peace can be found, the path remains challenging, with the world continuing to present its pains and uncertainties. Laureta's work captures both the innocence of conversion and the inevitable coming of age that all of humanity experiences ... Your mind will have traversed many planes of thought and wonder by the time the book is done, and you'll yearn to take that trip again." -Warren Clementson, poet and primary school teacher "Rexha's collection of poems gives us pause for patient reflection, laden with urgency, of a universe locked within the human soul. Navigating between distant galaxies, the change of the seasons, to the beating of one's heart and ticking of the clock deep in the night. To the laughter of children, and the familiar sights of her beloved city streets, to the quiet restraints of her familiar home that she longs to leave but always returns, where it forever shapes her soul. Like the girl who does not know how to leave, Rexha leaves us loving, accepting, but wanting more. Reminding us of the profound transitory nature of life, like the scent of a white flower we have missed in our haste and the realization of the moment gone and the splendor transformed. A beautiful dance between the mundane and sublime." -Brandon Mayfield, author of Grains of Destiny "Rexha's collection of poems is a breathtaking journey through Divine love and the beauty of life. Her vivid imagery and emotionally resonant language struck a deep chord with me as a fellow poet. What sets Rexha's work apart is her unique ability to weave these themes with such grace and clarity, creating a tapestry of words that feels both timeless and refreshingly original. Her poetry offers a perspective that is deeply personal yet universally relatable, making this collection a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience." -Flamur Vehapi, author of Verses of the Heart
Eight Messages on NT Missions
Where do missions start, and where do missions end? In other words, how do you know if the process is truly completed? By what standard do we measure the beginning, the process, and the final completion of New Testament missions? The simple answer to that question is in Acts 13 and 14 If I could state the purpose of this message in one sentence, it would be: God wants your church to understand clearly, embrace passionately, and pursue aggressively her initial responsibility to launch relentlessly, pursue, and complete successfully the full process of local church New Testament missions.
The Concept of Sin in Judaism, Christianity and Islam
It is asserted by Judaism, Christianity and Islam alike that sin is a central part of human life. Where sin comes from, however, is answered differently in the respective religions. While both the Bible and the Qur'an agree that there was a kind of "fall" of Adam at the beginning of human history, this fall is interpreted solely in classical Christian theology in terms of an "original" or "ancestral sin." Moreover, the classical doctrine of original sin is becoming increasingly called into question in today's Christian theology. This example already shows that the concept of sin is anything but clear. What does sin mean? Is sin primarily a violation of God's commandments? Or does the term "sin" refer to a radical corruption of man's nature? How does sin relate to man's redemption, toward which all three religions aim? The book "The Concept of Sin in Judaism, Christianity and Islam" addresses these and related questions. It analyzes how "sin" has been understood in the three religions in the past and the present and points out similarities and differences.
