How to Get Your Fucking Money Back
Be forewarned: Despite its title, this book contains absolutely no helpful advice for obtaining refunds. Instead, a cast of fictional characters and Ritcher's alter egos regale you with an amusingly disjointed series of adventures from his storied life. Almost none of it is true (but some of it is). You'll read about how he served in the Belgian National Guard, launched the Burger Chef restaurant chain, hosted the hit TV show "Animal Autopsy" and spent several years married to Kirsten Dunst during her two terms as governor of Kentucky. The book is full of secret nuggets, including another book called "Presidential Fun Facts & Trivia," information on bird spotting, proper table settings and a full 90 pages of About the Author, which includes a little detour called About the Author's Dogs. "How to Get Your Fucking Money Back" is an absurd, heavily footnoted, 154-page ride that gleefully disregards reality, the rules of storytelling and, occasionally, some common respect for the English language.

The Queen of Subtleties
A tremendously vivid, page-turning and plausible novel that depicts the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn, the most spirited, independent and courageous of Henry's queens, as viewed from both the bedrooms and the kitchens of the Tudor court. Everyone knows the story of Anne Boleyn. Henry VIII divorced his longstanding, long-suffering, older, Spanish wife for a young, black-eyed English beauty, and, in doing so, severed England from Rome and indeed from the rest of the western world. Then, when Henry had what he wanted, he managed a mere three years of marriage before beheading his wife for alleged adultery with several men, among them his own best friend and her own brother. This is the context for Suzannah Dunn's wonderful new novel, which is about - and told by - two women: Anne Boleyn, king's mistress and fated queen; and Lucy Cornwallis, the king's confectioner, an employee of the very highest status, who made the centrepiece of each of the feasts to mark the important occasions in Anne's ascent. There's another link between them, though: the lovely Mark Smeaton, wunderkind musician, the innocent on whom, ultimately, Anne's downfall hinged... Suzannah Dunn has wit, a mastery of dialogue, brilliant characterization, lack of pretence, and good humour. The Queen of Subtleties adds to that mix a wonderfully balanced, strong story and the result is sensational.

The Prophet and the Idiot
Obsessed by what they are certain is the impending apocalypse, a mismatched trio set off on a globetrotting road-trip in the latest feel-good adventure from the internationally bestselling author of The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared. In the fading days of late summer, 2011, self-taught astrophysicist Petra has calculated that the atmosphere will collapse in a few weeks' time--on September 21, at approximately 9:20 pm--ending the world as we know it.But the distraught Petra will not have to carry the burden of this terrible news alone for long. Fate intervenes, bringing her into the orbit of a pair of unlikely companions: Johan, a man whose intellectual prowess is remarkably overshadowed by his culinary skills, and Agnes, a seventy-five-year-old widow who has made a fortune posing as a young influencer on social media. Convincing them of the impending doom, Petra, Johan, and Agnes embark on a wild adventure in a camper van that will take them from their homes in Sweden, through Europe, to their destination: Rome.Johan plans to make the most of the time he has left. He has decided at last to stand up to his heinous big brother, promising to deliver a swift yet brutal blow in more ways than one. But, of course, nothing ever goes as planned. Not even the end of the world. . . .In this, his sixth novel, Jonas Jonasson takes us on a dazzling odyssey across the globe-from Sweden, through Europe, across Africa, and all the way to the US. The Prophet and the Idiot is an immensely funny, socially conscious, and life-affirming yarn about what happens when three odd yet fully reasonable characters come together and find cause to make mutual plans, all relayed in Jonasson's classically hilarious style.Translated from the Swedish by Rachel Willson-Broyles
