The Cubonic Plague
Did you ever notice how people arriving at work in the morning generally have some level of energy? But by the end of the day, if they've been deeply humiliated, or perhaps they served as management's pi簽ata du jour, they're left in a deep malaise, each one a victim of the deadly Cubonic Plague. It festers, creating blistering sores on your very soul!Yet, if energy is finite matter, it can't just disappear, no matter how it's beaten out of you. It must go somewhere, and leave it to a hippie grandmother, her loving grandson, and a cast of zany characters to discover the truth about the 'liquid gold, ' the 'spewage' that's emitted every day by the citizens of corporate America. Who knew it was a renewable source of energy? This is a cautionary tale. Be scared! Be very, very scared, as the Cubonic Plague is an equal-opportunity contagion. It will sneak up on you, snuffing the life out of you, leaving you in a vegetative state - if you are lucky enough to survive! The Cubonic Plague is a satire of corporate and political life. No one escapes in this greatest spoof of today's circus of socialism, wokeism, entitlement, hypocrisy, tyranny, and greed. Up is down and down is up, as seen from the many bewildered victims, at least those who are still breathing...

Byuck
Everything you wanted to know about Byuck! but were much too discriminating to ask ( a very brief interview with the author)Is Byuck the story of two f r i e n d s, but you're not sure which two friends?Yeah, kinda. Is byuck the overwhelming feeling of having your whole life in front of you yet no idea which things to do are the important things to do?If you want, I guess. Is carrying Byuck on public transit more likely to make me new friends or get me mugged? Why not both?Is it okay if I send Byuck to family members with no sense of humor who are likely to be outraged and complain on Nextdoor? So long as you pay full price.2000 seems like a long time ago. Do you expect me to believe they had such things as sexual hangups and miniature golf? That's the magic of fiction. Anything's possible!I'm writing a paper on Provo in the year 2000. Can I count this as a primary source?Who's your professor?
CottageEscape.zyx
First there was the pandemic, and people rushed to the north to spread the virus like rats leaving a plague ship. Then there were the rentals, because other people, eager to capitalize on the pandemic, rushed to develop every last bit of shoreline and turn it into five-star accommodations for the rats. Then, well, all hell broke loose. * CottageEscape.zyx: Satan Takes Over is the sequel to TurboJetslams: Proof #29 of the Non-Existence of God and as such, is a short and funny novel about 'cottage country' with a deep and serious message. A perfect (pre-)summer read that will make you laugh and think at the same time.

A Girl and Her Pup
This series came together kind of by accident, totally organically, through watching the love between my little girl and the rescue pup we share with my parents. The whole idea behind the series was to pay it forward, while capturing the love and imagination that is shared between children and their pets. I knew from the beginning that I wanted partial proceeds from every book sold to be donated to the BC Children's Hospital and to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation (Women's Shelter), but I wanted to incorporate the magic that can come for children from spending time with an animal as well. Over the years it's been said time and time again by people who meet her that Zola should be a therapy dog because of her gentle nature and love of children. The vision was to get Zola all trained up as a service dog, and be able to take her into Children's Hospital to read the books to the children staying there. But then Covid happened, so that vision is just a vision for now. We will just have to wait and see what it all evolves into! Southsea Stories and Beyond - Hardback Edition
Southsea Stories and Beyond, the Complete Uncollected Stories of Arthur Conan Doyle.(Note: The MUCH RARER AND COLLECTIBLE BLUE VERSION of this book in hardback is ONLY available at a special price of 瞿25 post-free in the UK from the publisher at www.lifeisamazing.co.uk. Amazon is unable to provide this rare blue edition)While working as a GP in Portsmouth's seaside resort of Southsea between 1882 and 1890, young Arthur Conan Doyle produced short stories and novels at an astonishing rate. Some of his anonymously-published tales were forgotten, only to be rediscovered around a century later in 1983. They are included here, along with more recent discoveries collected in book form for the very first time.Conan Doyle wrote comedies, tragedies, horror, supernatural and earthbound mysteries, unlikely adventures from the outposts of Empire and much more besides. All became part of his story-telling palette. In these pages you will meet a military medic, a super-shrewd observer of people, a terrified occupant of a lonely country house, a diamond thief, a masked visitor and many other characters imagined by Conan Doyle as he inched ever-closer to his greatest creation: Sherlock Holmes. While many associate Holmes with London, this book reveals how the detective was initially conceived in Southsea - and why Portsmouth will forever be "Sherlock's home".

A Vampire's Guide to Work-Unlife Balance
Threats of doom and destruction coming from the backyard barbecue grill are a bad portent-especially when they're not from Dad's cooking. Sarah Wright has pretty much gotten into her groove with the whole vampire thing. Unlife's pretty darn nifty... except when the Forces of Evil(TM) keep showing up to ruin her day. She wants to be normal: go to college, help her family, look after a vampire child, and try not to annoy anyone more powerful than the dude on the street corner collecting donations for his kid's soccer team. The biggest downside to getting in the way of a demonic-infused undead is how they tend to carry grudges. It wants to destroy her emotionally before it kills her. Since Firefly already got cancelled, it has no choice but to attack her family. Fortunately, this particular demon is trapped in another plane of existence. How much harm can it really do from there? Sarah's about to find out.

Careful-ish
"Love, love, loved, it! I laughed, was surprised, and deeply touched. The characters are incredible." - Pamela Wallace, Oscar-winning writer and novelist Ready to laugh with six new friends who'll make you feel better about your own choices? Overeating. Oversharing. Not enough distancing. Too much alcohol. What could go wrong? Meet six diverse friends quarantining in The Greatest City On Earth. They struggle to maintain their social lives, pay the bills, find new purpose, and just maybe have sex. What will they do when they think nobody's watching? A lot. The Joy (yes, that's what she calls herself) is the crazy glue that's holding this group of reprobates together. When lockdown hits, she insists on maintaining their weekly happy hour. She also insists that getting serviced by her beefy servicemen is safe-ish. Her sarcastic, Asian-American roommate, Kimi begs to differ. Only, not too loudly. Kimi's just crashing there and has no place else to go. But things are challenging for everyone. Will Steph, the nice Jewish girl and fledgling TV news chick be able to balance career and romance? And is it really romance, or just star-crossed sex? She's been quietly and uncareful-ishly getting busy with Jackson, the group's token Arab ne'er-do-well. He's using lockdown to train for that ninja warrior TV show. He's setting up a crazy-big obstacle course inside his parent's penthouse apartment. The good news? They're not home. Yet. Will Shad, the African-American young gun of finance, who works under the boss from Hell, quit before he gets fired? Depends. Benji, his white, suburban, anime-loving roommate (who's not quite on the spectrum) might drive him crazy before he can do either. And somehow the outside world finds its way in. Will Shad actually run the entire marathon for charity that he has created right in his apartment? And what will Steph do when, while in the middle of interviewing a war hero's widow, she's forced to play midwife--on TV. Her friends and the world watch live as the drama unfolds. If you enjoy friends comedies with a hint of romance, a serving of cocktails and a healthy dose of heart, this story is for you. Honey Parker brings her years of stand-up comedy and screenwriting experience together for the best-selling first book of the Careful-ish series. Will these young adults learn from their mistakes? Or will they be too hungover to remember anything of value? Click the BUY NOW button at the top and make six crazy new friends today.

Heliophobia
Murray Sandman has issues: a debilitating stutter, shoes whose Velcro straps won't stay shut, a basement full of nasty chemicals, and a career as a pricing gun repairman that's fizzling out faster than a tired little meteor. Oh yeah, and he's afraid of the sun. Fortunately for Murray, his hometown of North Gaslin is host to Heli-Non, a heliophobia support group. This motley crew includes a self-hating musician, a secretive entrepreneur, a bunch of working-class folks, and mysterious loners like Joe Purple, who hides beneath a different mask each session. But when Murray is robbed of a set of prototype pricing guns, he finds himself unable to turn to the friends he's relied on for years. This time, Murray's going to have to step into the light all by himself. Once his quest is underway, he quickly realizes that he's looking for more than just some plastic pricers-and that the huge ball of gas in the sky just might be the smallest problem he's got. Praise for Heliophobia "The sentences in Christopher X. Ryan's first novel are things of mystery and beauty. Boiled in Chandler, glazed in Thompson, dunked in Gibson, they go down smooth and sweet but also sharp and hard. I thought of books like Super Cell Anemia by Duncan Barlow or movies like Only Lovers Left Alive by Jim Jarmusch as I moved through the world they bring into such marvelous, middle-finger-raised focus. I'm excited for the work of this fine, fine writer to be entering the world. Heliophobia is a fabulous debut and its author someone to watch."-Laird Hunt "An impressive debut about a pricing gun repairman with a chronic fear of the sun, Heliophobia is an odd and hilarious punk album of a novel that manages to be both dark and surreal but also remarkably danceable. A smart, weird joy."-Matthew Kirkpatrick

Under One Gosport Roof
Joyce and Hardy have been getting on each other's nerves for decades, and their pensioner friends are used to their constant bickering, but separating turns out to be more difficult than they thought. Sharing the marital home in Gosport - with Hardy living upstairs and Joyce living downstairs - seems like a solution that won't plunge either of them into poverty, but what happens when they start looking for love elsewhere? In this sequel to An Incident on the Gosport Ferry, David Gary takes up the story of sharp-tongued Joyce and laid-back Hardy and their experiments with the world of online dating. All the men Joyce encounters turn out to be criminals or penny-pinchers; whereas Hardy - initially savouring the prospect - is then terrified when confronted with women expressing their 'desires'. Will either of them find true love?

Has Anyone Seen My Toes?
From the bestselling author of Thank You for Smoking and Make Russia Great Again comes a comic tour de force, the story of one man's "lively and funny" (New York Journal of Books) journey through lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, an aging screenwriter is holed up in a coastal South Carolina town with his beloved second wife, Peaches. He's been binge-eating for a year and developed a notable rapport with the local fast-food chain Hippo King. He struggles to work--on a ludicrous screenplay about a Nazi attempt to kidnap FDR and, naturally, an article for Etymology Today on English words of Carthaginian origin. He's told Peaches so often about the origins of the word mayonnaise that she's developed an aversion to using the condiment. He thinks he has Covid. His wife thinks he is losing his mind. In short, your typical pandemic worries. Things were going from bad to worse even before his doctor suggested a battery of brain tests. He knows what that means: dementia! But even in these scary times, there are plenty of things to do to distract him. His iPhone is fat-shaming him. He's. been trying to read Proust and thinks the French novelist missed his true calling as a parfumier. And he's discovered nefarious Russian influence on the local coroner's face. Why is Putin so keen to control who decides who died peacefully and who by foul play in Pimento County. Could it be the local military base? Has Anyone Seen My Toes? is a "laugh-out-loud" (Publishers Weekly) romp through a time that has been anything but funny.
