The Ghost Who Wouldn't Leave
The Ghost Who Wouldn't Leave, the award-winning romantic comedy with a ghostly twist."Some houses have history. Hers came with the ghost of a Victorian playwright who refuses to leave..." When Lesley Tierney moved into a quaint Yorkshire cottage, she was looking for peace, solitude, and maybe a little inspiration to finally finish her novel. What she didn't expect was for the cottage to come with a permanent... and very opinionated... houseguest. Meet Nathaniel Ashcroft: Victorian playwright, incorrigible flirt, and... well, dead. Lesley's perfectly ordinary life is turned upside down when she discovers that Nathaniel's ghost is very much still attached to the house, and to his unfinished manuscript. With a flair for the dramatic and a tendency to rearrange the furniture when he's annoyed, Nathaniel makes it clear he isn't going anywhere until his story is complete. The Ghost That Wouldn't Leave is a heartwarming, laugh-out-loud, and tear-jerking story of love, loss, and the connections that transcend even death.
Lisabetta
LEONARDO TAUGHT HIS KID SISTER TO PAINT... ... SHE TAUGHT HIM HOW TO SURVIVEA portrait's voice is captured in the eyes. Only beloved eyes may speak the truth in silence. My brother and I conversed this way for eleven years after my death. He called me through the art that was the best of us. I materialized to ease his grief and comfort his final moments.Leonardo heard my thoughts as a voice inside his head, as a waking dream, inside a memory. I listened back in the ways open to me. Leonardo shared his lifeforce with me the day I was born, refusing to let me die, and later, during his last days, when he lay close to death, I held his hand so he could feel the weight of my bones. To Leonardo, I remained, the fleshed-out Lisabetta of his middle-years. Such was our close connection, that even as an apparition, I had density. Leonardo taught me where illusion began and in 1519 it was my duty to show him where it ended.- Lisabetta

FATE IS MORE MYSTERIOUS THAN A SMILEWomen artists were of little consequence within the Florentine sweatshops of paint and marble. We were invisible child laborers. Domestic slaves who faced life-threatening periods of serial motherhood if we survived childbirth the first time. Yet, we were also the hidden alchemists who had the audacity to help our brothers and fathers turn raw minerals into the golden age of art.I know what it's like to be ignored. History only ever recorded me squeezed between two commas in a population census, and after all my climbing and dedication and discipline, I was still not a vital enough statistic to warrant a footnote in the memoirs of art.The irony is that Leonardo's 'Mona Lisa', the most famous portrait in the world, lost her identity while the pampered wife of a silk merchant, Monna Lisa Giocondo, became a household name with the wrong face... MY face! And now, 'The Mona Lisa' smiles more radiantly as my new adventure begins.

In THE LARKHILL BARROW an investigation in a Neolithic burial barrow leads Carnacki to experimentation with sound and vibration with almost catastrophic results In THE SISTERS OF MERCY a soldier's hospital needs Carnacki's help to rid it of a spectral manifestation These were the first three Carnacki stories I wrote back in 2009 and originally appeared in the now rare chapbook box set CARNACKI: GHOSTFINDER. Baron’s ghost
The lord of the castle had died. It meant big changes for him. This is his story from that moment. Readable on any device with the free app above.Chapter sixteen. I watched the family enter the cars. It was an impressive sight, black Rolls and Bentleys, one following another along the gravel driveway, then disappearing between the trees. The ghost of the librarian was waiting near the graveyard when I arrived on the path. I moved to wait near him. He had chosen the best spot to view proceedings without interfering. I saw the cars arrive, and waiting footmen help the family out. I watched uneasily as I saw the hearse, a black Rolls from the funeral parlor, approach slowly up the pathway. I saw my sons and some young men from the villages take the coffin from the hearse and start up the path, their feet shuffling in nervy small steps, not wanting to drop the coffin. I felt the same way, and stepped forward to catch it as one half stumbled. He recovered, which was just as well. The librarian stretched out an arm to keep me back. "You don't want to make them nervous," he said. "Indeed I don't," I said ruefully. When the last people had gone through the gate, I saw, to my astonishment, a row of ghostly Earls of Sedgemont, going back all the way to the first Earl. Among them were a few members of Royalty. I recognized the more recent ones, but some ancient Kings had pride of place near the head of the row. "They like to do this," said the librarian. "Do what?" I asked. "They always attend the Earl's funeral," said the librarian. "What an honor," I said. "I never knew." Now that it was empty, I saw them step forward onto the path, and follow the others through the gate. I saw a vast crowd of villagers behind them. "The villagers of the ages," said the librarian. "Where do they come from?" I asked. "They haunt the villages, and cottages in the fields and on the estate," said the librarian. "Especially the ruined ones." I was awed. I had no idea my burial would be such an occasion. The villagers did not go through the gate, but sang a quiet hymn. A thousand ghostly voices in perfect harmony. "Follow me," said the librarian. He led the way through the crowd of relatives, staff, and ghostly guests to the graveside. We stood on the opposite side of the grave, which was empty. The casket was lowered into the ground without mishap by strong young men. While the priest was talking my ghostly ancestors and their royal guests filed past the grave, stooped, and threw a handful of sand into the grave. Not real sand, but they went through the motions quite quickly so that everyone would have a turn while the priest spoke. Each looked across the grave and met my eye, and nodded respectfully. I felt greatly honored. "Where do the earls stay?" I asked. "In the old wing of the castle, my lord," the librarian said. The sight of so many of the ancestors he had read so much about was quite overpowering him. "There are many rooms in the old wing," I said. "They are empty and in need of repair, and some are quite dingy, but they prefer to be on the estate," he said. The living departed, solemn and subdued. The ghostly guests took their leave of the earls, particularly those of their own era, and vanished one by one. The earls followed, and then the thousand strong crowd of villagers from the ages vanished quickly. The gravediggers were busy filling in the grave, while the priest watched to see it all done properly. Isabel
La Llorona's legend speaks of two drowned sons, but her third child, Isabel, was forgotten. Overshadowed by siblings who rose to godhood, Isabel's fury smoldered in silence. Now, from a collection of chaotic handwritten notes left by a mysterious disciple, her story resurfaces in an interactive reading experience unlike any other. This version of Isabel requires the reader's hand in its final assembly. Each of the eleven "books" holds 8 horizontal lines. Once the lines are carefully cut along the dotted guides, each strip can be flipped independently to reveal one of 8 possible versions, over sixteen million combinations per book, and more than 3.4 trevigintillion variations across all eleven books. At just three minutes per reading, it would take longer than the lifespan of the universe to experience every possibility. Estimated cutting time: approximately one hour to fully prepare the book for flipping. All cut lines are marked, and detailed instructions are included inside the front cover. Each page becomes a living document, reshaped by your hand and reordered by your choices. Each shift in text reveals new pieces of Isabel: her rage, her sorrow, and the betrayal that burned her into something the world refused to remember. She wasn't just forgotten. She was transformed. What are we really discovering when we follow her story: an erased child's voice, or something she left behind to make sure we never stop looking? Isabel: The Forgotten Daughter of La Llorona is more than a story. It's a puzzle that never settles, a challenge that rewrites itself, and a haunting invitation to remember a girl the world tried to erase. Note: While Isabel is Book Three in the Candle Face Chronicles series, it's a standalone experience and doesn't require knowledge of Books One or Two.
