Scientific Self-Defence
The Fairbairn system was based on his training and knowledge in boxing, wrestling, savate, jujutsu, judo and fights he was also involved in during his police work. Fairbairn began to develop his own system of hand-to-hand combat, initially referring to it as 'Defendu'. It was designed to be simple to learn and to provide effective results. Fairbairn published his book, 'Defendu', in 1926 (reprinted as 'Scientific Self Defence' in 1931), illustrating this method and it is here that the term 'Defendu' first appeared. This confused early readers of the book, who assumed that the techniques within it had been based mainly in the Eastern martial arts that Fairbairn had learned. Fairbairn was called upon by the British to help train Allied troops in World War II. Fairbairn and others expanded on this system to create the Close Quarters Combat system that was then taught to the troops. This system was built on Defendu, but modified for military applications, rather than police and riot control. The original Defendu was oriented towards self-defence and restraint, while the Close Quarters Combat system concentrated on rapid disabling of an opponent, with potentially lethal force. The militarised version of Defendu is described in the military manual 'All-in Fighting 1942', used as a supplement during WW2 CQC training. This book was later published in a civilian edition, missing the chapters on bayonet fighting and rifle sighting, under the name 'Get Tough! How to Win in Hand-to-Hand Fighting. As Taught to the British Commandos and the U.S. Armed Forces'. Fairbairn's CQC system is also described in Rex Applegate's book 'Kill or Get Killed'. Together with Eric A. Sykes, Fairbairn developed innovative pistol shooting techniques and handgun specifications for the Shanghai Municipal Police which were later disseminated through their book 'Shooting to Live with the One-Hand Gun', along with various other police innovations such as riot batons, armoured vests and other equipment. He is perhaps best known for designing the famous Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, or 'Commando' knife, a stiletto-style fighting dagger used by British Special Forces in the Second World War, and featured in his textbook 'Scientific Self-Defence'. The Wingate Anaerobic Test
The Wingate Anaerobic Test was designed more than 30 years ago and is one of the reference tests for making assessments related to ATP/PCr and Glycolytic metabolisms. The test consists of a 30-second all out test performed on a cyclo-ergometer. Perhaps due to the evolution of the cyclo-ergometers used to carry out the test, or because it was initially designed with a sedentary population and has been used equally by sportsmen and women of all levels and ages, the original protocol has undergone some variations. Some research even shows the importance of modifying this initial protocol depending on what we want to assess and the population we are analyzing. The objective of this book is to make the test protocol well known, what it aims to measure and its characteristics, but above all to serve as an aid for its correct application, taking into account all the variables that can influence the results of the test.

The Katame Waza Ura no Kata is the method of counter techniques in Ne Waza created by the master Kazuo Ito (9th Dan) in the 1960s thanks to the teachings of his master; the great Kyuzo Mifune (10th Dan). From the point of view of combat on the ground, this method effectively instructs in a multitude of aspects and principles. The kata was designed to counterattack the techniques of Katame no Kata, using its structure, order in the execution of the techniques and protocol. But the Katame Waza ura no Kata has an even greater scope and can be practiced in a more open and flexible way, providing the student with a great variety of ways to defend himself against various attacks of Joint Lock, immobilization and strangulation. Once again, the Kano Ryu International School together with the International Traditional Kodokan Judo (ITKJ) rescue ancient kata that should never have died out. The Kodokan Judo created by Jigoro Kano and protected and preserved by his main students must remain alive and present at any time for the benefit of all humanity.

Revisiting Family Leisure Research
There have been a number of social, political and economic shifts that have played a major role in constraining, enriching, mediating and altering everyday family interactions and family practices. These include globalization, economic instability, neoliberal government paradigms, a culture of consumerism, technological advancements, shifting demographics and changing parenting ideologies. This book considers what advancements have been made in family leisure research over the past two decades within the context of a rapidly shifting society and examines potential new directions for scholarship. The book begins with an emphasis on the need for scholarship that explores diverse constructions of family and provides a call to action for family-centered scholars to engage with broader social issues. A collection of authors argue the importance of expanding the understanding of family to include older adults, highlight the missing perspectives of recreation and leisure agencies in family scholarship, and examine the ways in which information communication technology may alter family leisure. Authors also consider the dominance of particular theoretical perspectives, and the limitations and consequences of such perspectives, to understand the complexity, diversity and richness of the lived family experience. Olympics Have Always Intrigued Me
The Olympics have always intrigued me and though I was not very athletic as a young girl I liked to try doing figure eights and camel spins. Baseball and tin can cricket were fun to play as I was growing up. Skipping rope, single and double dutch, were often enjoyed pastimes. The level of competition at the Olympics just boggles my mind. When I watch some of the sports, such as speed skating where the skaters are on such an angle, my stomach clenches up as I fear they are going to crash. The beauty of diving, figure skating and floor exercises in gymnastics are a thrill to watch. Nadia Comaneci was so graceful as she performed on the balance beam; what a thrill it was to watch her. Watching other events, I feel myself encouraging the athletes onward towards the finish line.With the introduction of television to broadcast the Olympic events, many hours have been spent watching the athletes perform. The opening ceremonies have been come such a big production that without a commentary explaining what is happening much of what is viewed would not be understood. The achievements of our Canadian athletes is recognized, but there are always other performances that are awe inspiring that round out ones appreciation of what the human body is capable of performing.There is a huge amount of information available on the internet about the Olympics for anyone who cares to weed through it. I have chosen to record some of the gems of the events over the years and left out much of the political undertones and the catching of cheaters who have used drug-enhancing substances in order to win.

Einsendeaufgabe aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Gesundheit - Sport - Bewegungs- und Trainingslehre, Note: 1,4, Deutsche Hochschule f羹r Pr瓣vention und Gesundheitsmanagement GmbH, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit besch瓣ftigt sich mit der Erstellung eines Trainingsplans f羹r ein Krafttraining. Der Proband ist ein 43-j瓣hriger Mann, dessen Trainingsziel ein sportliches 瓣u?eres Erscheinungsbild ist sowie seine R羹ckenschmerzen zu reduzieren und Kraft aufzubauen. Sein allgemeiner Gesundheitszustand ist als gut zu bewerten. Jedoch ist anzumerken, dass der Trainierende leichte R羹ckenschmerzen im Bereich der Lendenwirbels瓣ule hat. Trotz dieser Einschr瓣nkung m羹ssen aus gesundheitlicher Sicht keine trainingsrelevanten Einschr瓣nkungen vorgenommen werden. Da dem Trainierenden eine Verbesserung des sportlichen Erscheinungsbildes wichtig ist, wird als Ziel die Erh繹hung der fettfreien Masse festgelegt. Die Kraftzunahme wird anhand einer Kraftsteigerung um 20 % in dem zu Beginn absolvierten 20-RM-Test gemessen. Da die leichten Schmerzen im unteren Bereich des R羹ckens muskul瓣r bedingt sind, soll durch eine St瓣rkung der Muskulatur in diesem Bereich der Schmerz um drei bis vier Punkte auf einer subjektiven Schmerzskala von eins bis zehn gesenkt werden. Der entwickelt Trainingsplan ist ein Makrozyklus, der aus vier Mesozyklen besteht und insgesamt 26 Wochen umfasst. Der Makrozyklus wurde nach dem deduktiven Ansatz der Individuellen-Leistungsbild-Methode (ILB-Methode) geplant. Hier werden die Trainingsintensit瓣ten 羹ber Lastvorgaben gesteuert. Grund der Auswahl ist, dass der Proband noch als Beginner eingestuft wird und die ILB-Methode sich nicht nur f羹r fortgeschrittene Kraftsportler eignet, sondern f羹r alle Leistungs- und Trainingsstufen anwendbar ist. One of the most important objectives of classical Jujutsu was undoubtedly training in all distances and positions to kill, subdue or capture an enemy. Techniques performed on the ground were often preceded by standing combat, either with weapons or bare-handed. With exceptions, in Koryu Jujutsu this work was generally taught in the form of kata, but it was from 1850 that free practice appeared, where both opponents used their best methods to subdue the opponent. Jigoro Kano Shihan studied, developed, expanded, and standardized the standing and ground randori in his new Jujutsu method. Thanks to this new form of practice, many Budokas specialized in fighting in Ne Waza, quickly spreading throughout Japan and other countries. At present the Ne Waza is an essential element in the integral formation of any Budoka. In the present study we analyze their history, evolution, the origin of the Kosen / Nanatei schools and perform 76 sequences with techniques that were used in Jujutsu and Traditional Kodokan Judo, including various forms of work and techniques of dislocation to all the joints that they are forbidden today in Sport Judo.

Trainingsplanung eines Ausdauertrainings. Planung eines Mesozyklus
Einsendeaufgabe aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Gesundheit - Sport - Bewegungs- und Trainingslehre, Note: 0,9, Deutsche Hochschule f羹r Pr瓣vention und Gesundheitsmanagement GmbH, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit besch瓣ftigt sich mit der Erstellung eines Trainingsplans f羹r ein Ausdauertraining. Der Proband ist ein 45-j瓣hriger Mann, dessen Trainingsmotive sind, seine Gesundheit zu f繹rdern und seine Fitness- beziehungsweise Ausdauerleistung zu verbessern. Sein allgemeiner Gesundheitszustand ist als gut zu bewerten. Jedoch ist anzumerken, dass der Trainierende erh繹hte Blutdruckwerte (Hypertonie Stufe 1) sowie leicht erh繹hte Plus-Werte aufweist. Trotz dieser Einschr瓣nkung m羹ssen aus gesundheitlicher Sicht keine trainingsrelevanten Einschr瓣nkungen vorgenommen werden. In dem Eingangsgespr瓣ch zwischen dem Trainer und dem Probanden A wurden unter anderem die Trainingsmotive des Trainierenden aufgenommen und festgehalten. Hierbei kristallisierte sich vor allem der Wunsch nach einer F繹rderung der eigenen Gesundheit sowie eine Verbesserung der Fitness-/ Ausdauerleistung heraus. Bei den hier formulierten Zielen handelt es sich immer um eine Verbindung aus Inhalt, Ausma? und Zeit, um einen direkten Transfer zu messbaren Zielen herzustellen. Die Ziele wurden auf ein drei Mal in der Woche stattfindendes, 45- bis 60-min羹tiges Ausdauertraining ausgelegt. Der entwickelt Trainingsplan ist ein Mesozyklus, der den Anfang eines circa sechsmonatigen Makrozyklus eines gesundheitsorientierten Ausdauertrainings darstellt. Ziel ist es, zun瓣chst den Trainierenden an ein regelm瓣?iges Training zu gew繹hnen und ihn zu einem Minimalprogramm hinzuf羹hren. Zudem wird eine Senkung des Blutdrucks und des Ruhepulses angestrebt.
Beweglichkeits- und Koordinationstraining zur Haltungsverbesserung

Hierbei wird ein Beweglichkeits- und Koordinationstraining f羹r eine beliebige Person erstellt. Der Proband wird als voll trainier- und belastbar bewertet. Seine Trainingsmotive k繹nnen unter Anleitung eines Trainers, innerhalb des zeitlichen Verf羹gungsrahmens von 120 bis 180 Minuten, verfolgt werden. Da der Proband w瓣hrend der Aus羹bung seiner beruflichen T瓣tigkeit nahezu ausschlie?lich sitzt, l瓣sst sich im Vorfeld vermuten, dass Muskeln, deren Ansatz und Ursprung sich in der sitzenden Position ann瓣hern, eine hohe Spannung aufweisen werden. Dies wird im weiteren Verlauf durch den Beweglichkeitstest 羹berpr羹ft. Ein erneutes Auftreten einer Epicondylitis, an der der Proband in der Vergangenheit litt, kann durch seine aktuelle und fr羹here sportliche Aktivit瓣t (Tennis) provoziert werden. Durch ein gezieltes Beweglichkeitstraining soll einem erneuten Auftreten vorgebeugt werden, zus瓣tzlich sollte er dazu ein geeignetes Muskelaufbautraining absolvieren.
