Hidden in Plain View
Ever wonder what the angler downstream of you catching fish in water you just fished is doing differently from you? Master angler and author Duane Redford delves into what the top 10% of anglers are seeing and doing differently from the fly fishing masses, and how they are consistently putting fish in the net in every situation. This work is a culmination of hundreds of hours on the river, observing and documenting insect, fish, and angler behaviors. It includes something for every level of angler from reading the obvious runs of the river to its subtle nuances; bug selection made simple, how to rig to attain a lively drift, recognizing and exploiting the X-Y-Z grids in a river run, tactics to get better now, and how to implement the Fly Fishers' Formula while you locate and effectively fish your "quarter mile" of river. This book is a comfortable read that takes you with the author as he describes the techniques and applications derived from statistical information and observation, for successful fly fishing on any river, and it contains at least one "pearl on every page" to help any level angler get to the next mile marker on the journey to fly fishing wisdom. You are invited to catch more fish and find out what's Hidden In Plain View.

Spatial Disorientation for Divers
One of the most important topics for diving never taught or discussed is Spatial Disorientation and its effects. Spatial Disorientation isn't taught because most divers simply don't know about it. Yet Spatial D. as a subject has been around for over a hundred years... In aviation. Aviators the world over are taught and maintain currency on Spatial D. and its effects, and they know exactly how dangerous it can be. Spatial Disorientation applies equally and directly to diving. Learning about this subject could save your life one day, and this book is the start of introducing it to divers everywhere. This publication was written to address the lack of information that exists today regarding spatial disorientation and its effects as it relates to divers. Spatial disorientation contributes more to causing accidents than any other psychological problem in a multi-directional space, such as diving underwater or flying through the air. Regardless of their amount of time or experience underwater, all divers are subject to disorientation. The human body is structured to perceive changes in movement when standing vertically on land in relation to the surface of the earth. When diving, the human sensory systems-the visual system, vestibular system, and proprioceptive system-can and will give the brain erroneous orientation information due to positioning and movement of the body in a space and along an axis foreign to our biological design. This information can and will cause some degree of sensory illusions, which in-turn lead to spatial disorientation, that further leads to confusion, lost time in actions, potentially harmful or dangerous reactions, and a developing spiral of out-of-control events leading to an accident or death.

And when you take a couple of punks diving one day, you just know its all gonna go tits up. And then there's the singeli hardcore festival in the excellently named Stone Town. View from Hadrian’s Wall
Built almost 2,000 years ago by the Roman occupiers of Britain, Hadrian's Wall is one of the most famous and identifiable World Heritage Sites. When two old friends, one American and one British, reunited to trek the length of the Wall, they reminisced about the past while sharing apprehension about the future. This memoir of their coast-to-coast voyage examines Roman history, drawing parallels between the fall of the Roman Empire and the recent political developments and uncertainties in the United Kingdom and the United States. The authors also share their often humorous encounters with locals they met along the way while hiking in incessant rain.
Across the Prairies
Famous dogs and handlers come alive in this collection of interviews, articles, and fiction from the pen of Robert Franks. Written for the bird dog and field trial community, many of the memories contained within these pages would be lost forever if not for the efforts of the author to collect and preserve important pieces of field trial history. From famous dogs, scouts and handlers, to stories and fiction as only the author can tell it. Sit back and enjoy reading about the sport we love.
Mountain Rescue
During spring break in March 2013, Mary Owen, a twenty-three-year-old student at George Fox University, went missing. She was an avid adventurer and outdoor enthusiast who had previously hiked the 2653 mile long Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).This is a story of the agony one mistake can precipitate, a story of blunder, peril, and reckoning on a hazardous mountain at a dangerous time of year. It is a compelling story of obsession, the allure of the outdoors, intense longing for adventure, entrapment in the wild, and Providential survival. It is an unforgettable story of prayer, faith, and hope, and of days of silence, turned into song and resurrection. Many people have asked for this story to be written. The book includes Mary's account, her parents' perspectives, along with a collage of contributions from other people who became part of the story as it unfolded in real-time.

The Commentators
Award-winning commentator Michael Schiavello examines the greatest sports commentators in history, the best calls ever heard, and offers stories from his own journey through the sports broadcasting world. The Commentators reviews of more than 60 of the best moments in sports history and examines some of the finest plays and commentary calls across 20 different sports including soccer, American football, golf, boxing, Formula One, horse racing, ice hockey, athletics, tennis, baseball, cricket, professional wrestling, darts, rugby, cycling, and more--plus the biggest sports events, including Olympics (summer and winter), FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, and Rugby World Cup. A powerful story unfolding during a sports event can inspire us about a sport we've never watched, an athlete we haven't heard of, or a country we've never visited or even located on a map. Stories engross an audience and engage them on an emotional level. Once a commentator captures an audience's emotions, they're putty in his hands. The power of sports lies within those individuals and the ability of the commentator to tell those stories.

This new edition of AMC's Best Day Hikes Near Boston brings you to 60 of the best day hikes in the area, along with enriching essays about the area's natural and social history. Visitors and locals alike will find something to enjoy in this volume, with an at-a-glance trip planner that highlights the best hikes near public transportation, as well as those for kids, dogs, universal access, and winter snowshoeing and skiing. From the famed beaches of Cape Cod to the contemplative stillness of Walden Pond, to new hikes in Callahan State Park and the Sudbury Reservoir, this new edition provides an indispensable guide for exploring the eastern portion of Massachusetts in greater depth.
