The LEGO Technic Idea Book
The LEGO(R) Technic Idea Book: Simple Machines is a collection of hundreds of working examples of simple yet fascinating Technic models that you can build based on their pictures alone. Each project uses color-coded pieces and is photographed from multiple angles, making it easy to see how the models are assembled without the need for step-by-step instructions. Every model illustrates a different principle, concept, or mechanism that will inspire your own original creations. You're encouraged to use these elements as building blocks to create your own masterpieces. The Technic models in Simple Machines demonstrate basic configurations of gears, shafts, pulleys, turntables, connectors, and the like. You'll learn how to create small, elegant machines like cranes, operable doors, motorized cars, a rubber band-powered rocket launcher, a hand-cranked drag racer, and even musical instruments. This visual guide, the first in the three-volume LEGO Technic Idea Book series, is the brainchild of master builder Yoshihito Isogawa of Tokyo, Japan. Each title is filled with photos of Isogawa's unique models, all of which are designed to fire the imaginations of LEGO builders young and old. Imagine. Create. Invent. Now, what will you build? NOTE: The LEGO Technic Idea Book series uses parts from various Technic sets. If you don't have some of the pieces shown in a particular model, experiment by substituting your own parts or visit the author's website for a list of the special parts used in the book.

The Magic of Chelsea - A Flower Show Like No Other - 2025
Another year has passed, and we have had another trip to the Chelsea Flower Show. Unlike last year, the weather was a typical late spring day without a cloud in the sky, and now here we have the newest edition of the 'Magic of Chelsea' 2025.Since we had booked our tickets early for this year, we managed to secure two passes for Day 2, which is reserved for members of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), of which we are members. As with our previously published Magic of Chelsea books, this one is also published with those in mind who cannot visit the event but would love to, as well as those who did see the show and want to cherish their memories. We are now bringing this book to you.The exhibits and flowers, and possibly due to the beautiful spring weather, were spectacular. The flowers were glistening in the lovely morning sun, and everything looked fresh and sparkling. There is no doubt about it; with enthusiasm and excitement filling the air, we were out to have a good time, and that's precisely what we did.The people attending enjoyed a day full of fun, and that's precisely what took place. Happy faces, laughter, and everyone having a great time - it was a very special moment shared, and we're fortunate to have been part of it. Now that I am back in Australia, we have shared our experiences, which have enabled me to write this latest book. From stunning floral displays, various flowers and plants in the Great Pavilion, to remarkable pieces of creative sculpture, all were showcased at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.My enthusiasm never falters for the appreciation of the art displayed. From sculptures to the exotic plants and flowers, all of which bring home to me the skills, talent, and determination that so many people have to fulfil their dreams of creating and delivering their beautiful exhibits at the Chelsea Flower Show.It is through reflection and working on this book that I celebrate the treasured moments spent and the gratitude now felt, while the nostalgia of that time becomes one of life's precious memories. I, too, know that by turning the pages and feasting our eyes on the photographs, this book will leave you with feelings of peace, enjoyment, and satisfaction that I experienced during its creation.Christine

Craftland
An "impassioned and inspiring account of the extraordinary men and women still doing traditional artisanal work" (The Sunday Times) in the face of massive technological industrialization--by renowned Cambridge art historian Dr. James Fox. "Shimmers with love for a dwindling world of meticulous, patient labour . . . deftly written and well researched."--The Guardian During an age of mass manufacturing, fast fashion, synthetic materials and the unsustainable practice of companies valuing quantity over quality, a return to tradition, connection, and simplicity is essential. Art historian and award-winning broadcaster Dr. James Fox explores the rapidly fading crafts and artisanal traditions of the world--such as coopering, basket-weaving, wheelwrighting, metalwork, and blacksmithing--that have shaped so much of our history through their alchemy of the hand-made human touch and generational wisdom. Fox explains the history of craftsmanship in Britain, taking readers across the lands and communities that originated there, teaching them about the practices, traditions, and people at their heart. From coopers to thatchers, basket makers to bellfounders and dry wall builders, Fox tours Britain, once the workshop of the world, in search of its lost and disappearing craft traditions and the artisans trying to keep them alive including, a rush weaver who has managed to rebuild a sustainable business with her baskets and other wares, a bell foundry that uses the same practices it used in the nineteenth century, and dry wallers, building walls one piece of stone at a time that could last two centuries. Part travelogue and part historical record, Craftland is a profoundly intimate meditation on our human cultural heritage, exploring what we lose as these traditions fade from view in the race of progress, and what we stand to gain if we bring them back.
