Bad Stuff out + Good Stuff in = Health

Shania Seeber 出版
2024/10/22 出版

We have been conditioned to believe that once we get a chronic condition, be it pain, fatigue, or even an autoimmune disease, that the only resource is medication that would need to be taken for the rest of your life. Dr. Shania Seeber wants you to be reminded that your body is designed to heal. When you take away the bad things that are hampering that healing process and replace those with good things that stimulate and support healing, even chronic conditions can improve or even resolve, in this book she discusses what those "bad things" are and how to assess and remove them and what the "good things" are that will support you. If you, or someone you know, is struggling with fatigue, brain fog, pain or any other chronic condition then you will benefit from the guidance and stories in this book.

Grow Your Own Spices

Tasha,Greer  著
2024/10/13 出版

In Grow Your Own Spices, author and spice-growing gardener Tasha Greer hands you everything you need to know to grow a thriving spice garden, with practical tips and in-depth advice on cultivating over 30 different spices. Unlike herbs, which consist of the green leaves of certain plants, spices come from the seeds, roots, bark, or berries of plants, which means growing, harvesting, and preparing spices is a lot more nuanced than growing leafy herbs. Start with easy-to-grow seed spices first, such as sesame seeds, fennel, and cumin, then graduate to more challenging spice varieties, such as star anise, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spices not only offer culinary flare, there's also increasing evidence of their ability to fight inflammation and reduce various health risks. Medical usage tips from expert herbalist Lindsey Feldpausch are found throughout the book and offer well-researched advice on how to use homegrown spices to improve your well-being. Regardless of whether you're using spices as a health-boosting supplement or simply to power-up the flavor of your meals, purchasing spices is an expensive proposition. Topics of Special Interest to Me

2024/10/10 出版

In my first two books, I covered some pretty serious topics. I would now like to change the tone to some more lighthearted topics that are of special interest to me.I speak to people, and they say, "I have a black thumb. I cannot grow anything!" Or "I can't cook, I burn everything!" I would like to share a few things that I have learned over the years that have helped me become what I would like to believe is a fairly decent cook. When I take some of my dishes to gatherings of friends (particularly our small group meetings or Deacons' meetings), I get high marks. One of the guys in my small group says, "I don't worry about what you are bringing, Eldon. It is always good."I have also learned things about gardening over the years that have helped me change from a "plant it and trash it" gardener to a guy who can produce my favorite summer treat, fresh tomatoes!I rarely buy tomatoes in the store because they have no flavor. Commercially produced tomatoes are bulk harvested while they are still green and gassed with ethylene to turn them red. They refer to this as ripening, but it merely turns them red.Commercial tomatoes cannot match fresh grown tomatoes because, in the extra time the fruit hangs on the vine, it develops sugars from the sun ripening them which commercial tomatoes do not get. I hope that you enjoy these topics of special interest to me.

Make Cider without Fuss or Chemicals

Independentl 出版
2024/09/21 出版

Plans and operating instructions to make a domestic cider press and make cider. Have you ever had a surplus of apples, either from your own garden, or apples offered by a friend or neighbour during the Autumn glut? There is a limit to the number of apples you can keep in your garage before they start to rot and end up on the compost heap. Yet most varieties of apple can be used to make delicious fresh juice, or fermented to make real cider: quite different from most of the ciders sold in pubs and supermarkets. These so-called ciders are often made from fruit concentrates with added water, alcohol, flavouring, artificial sweeteners and fruit acids, chemical preservatives and sometimes with only a fraction of fermented apple juice. Real cider should be made only from fresh apple juice, with nothing added: no yeast, sugar, water, flavouring, sulphites, other preservatives such as citric acid, ascorbic acid, or anything else. This booklet gives a concise and easy to follow method for pressing your apples and making your own cider, or just preserving the juice as a delicious healthy non-alcoholic drink. It includes some valuable tips on the preparation and storage of apple juice and cider. Part 2 gives a detailed description with diagrams and photographs for the construction and operation of a high yielding apple press suitable for use in a garage or small outhouse. The author has over 18 years experience in the production of cider from trees in his own garden and has won prizes for his cider in local shows in Somerset.(c) Joe Bleasdalev1 July 2017

Nature Notes

Tim,Deane  著
Choir Press 出版
2024/08/09 出版

Tim Deane's Nature Notes is a collection of articles that appeared in The Organic Grower magazine between 2009 and 2021. The notes are reflections of a life on the land, that of an organic vegetable grower and farmer intimately connected to the soil and working with the living ecological systems and cycles that sustain its productivity. They are both light-hearted and informative and although Tim makes no claims to being a 'proper naturalist', these notes provide a unique window into the nature of a small Devon farm on the fringes of Dartmoor, its fellow inhabitants and passing visitors. It is that empathy, observation, and attention to detail which made Tim such an accomplished grower; a true pioneer of the organic growing movement. Whether you have a garden or farm, or simply care about the environment in which we live, this book will provide a new perspective on the natural world around us.
