The Nature of Things (Royal Collector’s Edition) (Case Laminate Hardcover with Jacket)
The Nature of Things transmits the ideas of Epicureanism, which includes atomism and cosmology. Lucretius presents the principles of atomism, the nature of the mind and soul, explanations of sensation and thought, the development of the world and its phenomena, and explains a variety of celestial and terrestrial phenomena. The universe described in the poem operates according to these physical principles, guided by fortuna, "chance," and not the divine intervention of the traditional Roman deities.Lucretius' work was an attempt to show, through poetry, that everything in nature can be explained by natural laws, without the need for the intervention of divine beings. Lucretius identifies the supernatural with the notion that the deities created our world or interfere with its operations in some way. He argues against fear of such deities by demonstrating, through observations and arguments, that the operations of the world can be accounted for in terms of natural phenomena. These phenomena are the result of regular, but purposeless motions and interactions of tiny atoms in empty space. This case laminate collector's edition includes a Victorian inspired dust-jacket.
Pyramids of the Great Architect of the Universe
The Book Is Unique of Its Kind and Has No Analog In The World. The second edition of this interesting book contains an extensive amount of changes and new information, which will make a reader understand the theory proposed by the author much better. The book starts with a general history of the pyramids, and then the book goes over the ciphers of pyramids proposed by the author. The book then goes over the general astronomy, and shows schemes of stars, solar systems and galaxies deciphered and obtained from an key geometry. Overall, the book is unique of its kind and is inspired by the passage from the Holy Bible in the New Testament, "...the keys of the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 16:19.
Cosmological Probes of Light Relics
The wealth of recent cosmic microwave background and large-scale structure data has transformed the field of cosmology. These observations have not only become precise enough to answer questions about the universe on the largest scales, but also to address puzzles in the microscopic description of Nature. This thesis investigates new ways of probing the early universe, the properties of neutrinos and the possible existence of other light particles. In particular, based on detailed theoretical insights and novel analyses, new evidence for the cosmic neutrino background is found in the distribution of galaxies and in cosmic microwave background data. This tests the Standard Model of particle physics and the universe back to a time when it was about one second old. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that future observations will be capable of probing physics beyond the Standard Model since they can achieve a particular target which would either allow the detection of any light particles thathave ever been in thermal equilibrium or imply strong bounds on their properties.

Greene takes us on a journey from the big bang to the end of time, exploring how lasting structures formed, how life and mind emerged, and how we grapple with our existence through narrative, myth, religion, creative expression, science, the quest for truth, and a deep longing for the eternal. From particles to planets, consciousness to creativity, matter to meaning--Brian Greene allows us all to grasp and appreciate our fleeting but utterly exquisite moment in the cosmos.
What, If Anything, Is Out There?
"A newly released U.S. report on unidentified flying objects says 143 sightings since 2004 remain unexplained. It does not rule out alien activity."--The New York Times, June 25, 2021Discover what Colonel Abel has uncovered, and what the government might not be telling us, in this gripping new look at the history, and potential future impact, of UFOs and alien contact. There are few events that would be of more importance, or more startling, than if, in the near future, we found ourselves confronted by another intelligent race with abilities and technology far superior to anything that currently exists on Earth. In What, If Anything, Is Out There? Gene P. Abel, COL (USA Ret.), details historic events that may well have been sightings by our ancestors and begins to explore what these encounters could mean for our security in the future. Drawing upon his years of military experience, Abel offers a unique insider's perspective as he guides readers through a thoughtful history into the Roswell incident of 1947 and beyond. In the wake of the Department of Defense acknowledgement that the US Navy has encountered UFOs and the National Security report on unidentified aerial phenomena, What If Anything, Is Out There? is a timely, and much-needed, look at the role of intelligent life in the universe.
THE HEAVENS - An End Times Guide to ETs, Aliens, Exoplanets & Space Controversies
This book Discerns Disclosure and Exposes why Planet X, the Alien Presence, UFOs, USOs have been covered up and confounded with all kinds of disinformation to confuse and distract the public from the truth. THE HEAVENS - Book Five of the Who's Who in the Cosmic Zoo series, connects the dots to the last days of these end times with ancient scriptures that include both biblical and exobiblical texts. It covers the issue of Time, Time Travel and Calendar Shenanigans, and questions just where we really are on our present timeline? This book delves into and exposes the real reason for the newly created Space Force, where it all began, the hidden meanings of the symbolism, the renaming of the US Space Command, and why its relevant now in this present age of Disclosure. THE HEAVENS - Book Five details the history of US Presidents' viewpoints on UFOs and Disclosure and includes a compilation of quotes by US Astronauts, during their experiences with UFOs in Space. Author Ella LeBain ties it altogether with the presence of 7 earth sized planets that were discovered by Astronomers in 2017, with the ancient scriptures that point to the end of this age, as we transition into the advent of the Messianic Age and what that means for both scientific viewpoints, the new astronomy, our present space age, and religion as we know it. In the author's signature style, she proves that the Truth is Stranger than Fiction, as she parallels, in comparisons and weaves in, some of the most popular science fiction movies and TV shows, while postulating those were actually based on the reality of a secret space program operating for 70 years to prepare us for the inevitable real star wars with this ancient alien presence, detailed in the ancient prophecies. She posits that these genres of entertainment were released intentionally over the past 50+ years for the purpose of preparing the public for the eventual disclosure of extraterrestrials, the alien presence and the preordained end time battle with the alien presence over Earth and illuminates how that fits into the End Times Prophecies of the Messiah showing up on Earth, out of the Heavens, coinciding with the presence of an approaching ancient dark twin solar system that behaves as an interloper as it intersects within our own solar system. Our sun's dark twin, the Nemesis-Nibiru system, is scheduled to appear towards the end of this present processional age, along with a vast celestial army, that will battle to save this planet from the forces of darkness. The author details hard evidence from credible sources, along with scientific explanations, and ancient scriptures to prove the end times scenario that humankind is and will be facing and offers suggestions towards preparing our souls for the fate of Earth.
Cosmological Clues
This book provides an accessible overview of the Standard Model of Cosmology, which is explained in six Cosmological Clues, including evidence for the Big Bang and dark matter and dark energy - the keystones of modern cosmology. This book is an ideal guide for anyone interested in finding out more about our Universe.
E-Co-Affectivity
Offers an interdisciplinary investigation of affectivity in various forms of life.E-Co-Affectivity is a philosophical investigation of affectivity in various forms of life: photosynthesis and growth in plants, touch and trauma in bird feathers, the ontogenesis of human life through the placenta, the bare interface of human skin, and the porous materiality of soil. Combining biology, phenomenology, Ancient Greek thought, new materialisms, environmental philosophy, and affect studies, Marjolein Oele thinks through the concrete, living places that show the receptive, responsive power of living beings to be affected and to affect. She focuses on these localized interfaces to explain how affectivity emerges in places that are always evolving, creative, porous, and fluid. Every interface is material, but is also "more" than its current materiality in cocreating place, time, and being. After extensively describing the effects of the milieu and community within which each example of affectivity takes place, in the final chapter Oele adds a prescriptive, ethical lens that formulates a new epoch beyond the Anthropocene, one that is sensitive to the larger ecological, communal concerns at stake.
The Cosmic Microwave Background
The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), the radiation left over from the Big Bang, is arguably the most important topic in modern cosmology. Its theory and observation have revolutionized cosmology from an order-of-magnitude science to a precision science. This graduate textbook describes CMB physics from first principles in a detailed yet pedagogical way, assuming only that the reader has a working knowledge of General Relativity. Among the changes in this second edition are new chapters on non-Gaussianities in the CMB and on large-scale structure, and extended discussions on lensing and baryon acoustic oscillations, topics that have developed significantly in the last decade. Discussions of CMB experiments have been updated from WMAP data to the new Planck data. The CMB success story in estimating cosmological parameters is then treated in detail, conveying the beauty of the interplay of theoretical understanding and precise experimental measurements.
The Universe in one uniform model
You have to know how to "ask yourself questions as a child with an adult brain," said Albert Einstein. He could have added that the child's own, in addition to not yet having a mind full of preconceived ideas, is to think without necessarily relying on words. All the difficulty, then, is to convert these ideas not really formulated, in writing. Moreover, on such a subject, a need for precision in formatting does not facilitate rhetoric. These few pages will tell you the story of our Universe as you probably never imagined it.
Chris Langan’s Major Papers 1989 - 2020
This book chronicles the development of the Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe (CTMU) from the first essays in the ultra-high IQ journals in 1989 to its breakthrough interpretation of quantum mechanics in 2019 and explication of reality as a self-simulation in 2020.
Faith Physics
Faith Physics is a new Theory of Everything (ToE) combining ancient spiritual wisdom and modern quantum physics findings to deliver a belief system that is both intellectually sound and spiritually satisfying. It maintains an ineffable Supreme Consciousness is the catalyst of all material creation as a 'great thought' through pure white light in zero-point morphogenetic quantum fields. Faith Physics claims that consciousness is the cornerstone of base reality existing in a timeless state of now.By using the natural cause-and-effect laws of classical physics, the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics, and dark matter/energy, Faith Physics posits pure consciousness manifests physical creation in a remarkable myriad of forms. In the wave/particle duality paradigm revealed by quantum mechanics, conscious observation transforms light energy into particulate physical matter as condensed or frozen light in accordance with Albert Einstein's famous E=mc2 equation.Faith Physics teaches us we exist and thrive in a unified participatory universe emanating from an eternal Supreme Consciousness source, and we are not just a product of random-chance evolution. In the 21st century, religion and science are reaching an enlightened consensus that pure metaphysical consciousness is perpetually painting a picture on the space-time continuum canvas depicting a miraculous cycle of physical creation, entropy, and cosmic rebirth.
Wait Ten Minutes
(Black/White/Greyscale Edition) "If you don't like the weather in Ohio, just wait ten minutes." Weather is the one thing we all have in common. We all have to contend with that stuff churning around in the atmosphere. But what causes that weather? What forces are at work? Why does it happen when, where, and how it does? And can we actually predict what's going to happen in Central Ohio? Meteorologist Marshall McPeek takes us on a Central Ohio weather adventure to show us how the weather works and how we can prepare for what comes our way. The weather influences what we wear, how we behave, even what we talk about at chatty dinner parties. It's usually just part of the background in our busy, daily routines, but every now and then, Mother Nature makes a big fuss to make sure we're respectful. The weather is fascinating! Once we understand how difficult it is to create a single raindrop, we're blown away by the incredible power of our atmosphere!
Spinning Black Hole Inside Our Earth
Spinning Black Hole Inside Our Earth is the 5th book in Ed Lukowich's Trillion Theory series. Trillion Theory is the first theory to indicate that all cosmic spheres (such as Earth) were built by Black Holes which spun light into matter to build spheres around themselves. Each Black Hole, as a sphere builder, then occupies that sphere for billions of years. The cloaked Black Hole which occupies the interior of our Earth, does not spin fast as it once did; it now spins slowly because of the mass of matter which it controls. The Earth's cloaked Black Hole provides our planet with axial spin and also our planet's gravity. Each of the books in the Trillion Theory series show this new theory from a new perspective.
The Babylonian Astronomical Compendium Mul.Apin
This book contains an introductory essay, followed by a new edition of the text and a facing-page transliteration and English translation. Finally, the book contains a new and detailed commentary on the text.
Myth, Chaos, and Certainty
This book offers a study of the three evolutions in a circle (cosmos, life, and knowledge) with the aim of discussing human social behavior, a metaphor of the general behavior of nature (from which man derives) within the fluctuating equilibrium between the opposite tendencies to cohesion and shredding; a circularity revealing an indefinite and probably never conclusive run-up of human beings to the knowledge of nature; an analysis that demonstrates any theoretical/practical impossibility to formulate absolute certainties, since it depicts a situation in which man finds himself hovering between a rational way of living and the contradictory modus operandi of mythos. All that, within a society where the powerful communication and transportation technologies give rise to conflicts and fragmentations, where anyone's will to self-distinguishing is enhanced by highlighting any small difference and obscuring any large similarity. The main difference between this book and existing ones stems from its interdisciplinary nature, particularly because it establishes a close connection between three, apparently so different disciplines--cosmology, life sciences, and sociology--compared with respect to their increasing complexity laws, giving rise to always more chaotic configurations.
Fine-Tuning in the Physical Universe
Is the universe fine-tuned for complexity, life, or something else? This comprehensive overview of fine-tuning arguments in physics, with contributions from leading researchers in their fields, sheds light on this often used but seldom understood topic. Each chapter reviews a specific subject in modern physics, such as dark energy, inflation, or solar system formation, and discusses whether any parameters in our current theories appear to be fine-tuned and, if so, to what degree. Connections and differences between these fine-tuning arguments are made clear, and detailed mathematical derivations of various fine-tuned parameters are given. This accessible yet precise introduction to fine-tuning in physics will aid students and researchers across astrophysics, atomic and particle physics and cosmology, as well as all those working at the intersections of physics and philosophy.
Is Einstein Still Right?
Albert Einstein is often viewed as the icon of genius, and his theories are admired for their beauty and correctness. Yet the final judge of any theory is the rigorous test of experiment, not the fame of its inventor or the allure of its mathematics. For decades, general relativity has passed test after test with flying colors, including some remarkable new tests using the recently detected gravitational waves. Still, there are reasons for doubt. Einstein's theory of gravity, as beautiful as it is, seems to be in direct contradiction with another theory he helped create: quantum mechanics. Until recently, this was considered to be a purely academic affair. But as more and more data pour in from the most distant corners of the universe, hinting at bizarre stuff called "dark energy" and "dark matter," some scientists have begun to explore the possibility that Einstein's theory may not provide a complete picture of the cosmos. This book chronicles the latest adventures of scientists as they put Einstein's theory to the test in ever more precise and astonishing ways, and in ever more extreme situations, when gravity is unfathomably intense and rapidly churning. From the explosions of neutron stars and the collisions of black holes to the modern scientific process as a means to seek truth and understanding in the cosmos, this book takes the reader on a journey of learning and discovery that has been 100 years in the making.

Thousand Reflections of the Moon
"When I left my hometown to go to university, I had the opportunity to stay with my grandparents and learn the traditional knowledge of a women's life and my mind became packed with folk songs and legends. My maternal grandmother chanted Buddhist sutra every evening, and my paternal grandmother asked the spirit doctor nearby for healing when children fell sick. I was offered a place to study Chinese Language and Literature at Suzhou University. From then on, I started the trip to explore China from a broader perspective of history and geography." Here is the result - a thoughtful and inspiring insight into the art, culture and thinking of the great civilisation that is China.

Flipping The Narrative
Do your personal observations of the world around you actually support heliocentric-model theories? Have you ever felt a sense of moral responsibility to understand why you believe what you think you know to be true? Do you long to gain a renewed sense of direction and hope for the future? Can you trust your senses to lead you to the Truth?Flipping the Narrative: A Pragmatic Approach to Flat Earth Cosmology dares to challenge the accepted cosmological narrative through an unconventional yet practical and systematic look at the evidence supporting a flat stationary Earth. Interest in Flat Earth Cosmology is constantly growing, particularly among millennials. Flipping the Narrative offers a rare female perspective among the Flat Earth community and discusses such hot topics as: - why we can't see clear across the earth if it's flat, proof of missing curvature, the surface tension of water and atmospheric pressure, wind currents, weather patterns, and seasons- how celestial navigation and the compass work on a flat earth, parallax and southern star patterns- how line of sight radio transmissions and GPS work, the Coriolis and Allais effects, auroras and other electro-magnetic phenomena, what the dome is and why it's necessary, how Moon phases and eclipses workThis unique book addresses many previously unanswered questions about cosmology in relation to a flat stationary earth. It also addresses less obvious inconsistencies in the heliocentric model, along with some impossibilities remaining completely overlooked in the globe earth model. Facts will always remain facts, but the interpretation of those facts is subject to our understanding of the evidence surrounding them.It is possible to flip the accepted narrative by releasing our minds from the bondage of theoretical science using the keys of empirical Truth.

When the Earth Had Two Moons
An astonishing exploration of planet formation and the origins of life by one of the world's most innovative planetary geologists. In 1959, the Soviet probe Luna 3 took the first photos of the far side of the moon. Even in their poor resolution, the images stunned scientists: the far side is an enormous mountainous expanse, not the vast lava-plains seen from Earth. Subsequent missions have confirmed this in much greater detail. How could this be, and what might it tell us about our own place in the universe? As it turns out, quite a lot.Fourteen billion years ago, the universe exploded into being, creating galaxies and stars. Planets formed out of the leftover dust and gas that coalesced into larger and larger bodies orbiting around each star. In a sort of heavenly survival of the fittest, planetary bodies smashed into each other until solar systems emerged. Curiously, instead of being relatively similar in terms of composition, the planets in our solar system, and the comets, asteroids, satellites and rings, are bewitchingly distinct. So, too, the halves of our moon.In When the Earth Had Two Moons, esteemed planetary geologist Erik Asphaug takes us on an exhilarating tour through the farthest reaches of time and our galaxy to find out why. Beautifully written and provocatively argued, When the Earth Had Two Moons is not only a mind-blowing astronomical tour but a profound inquiry into the nature of life here--and billions of miles from home.
Numerical Relativity: Starting from Scratch
Numerical relativity has emerged as the key tool to model gravitational waves - recently detected for the first time - that are emitted when black holes or neutron stars collide. This book provides a pedagogical, accessible, and concise introduction to the subject. Relying heavily on analogies with Newtonian gravity, scalar fields and electromagnetic fields, it introduces key concepts of numerical relativity in a context familiar to readers without prior expertise in general relativity. Readers can explore these concepts by working through numerous exercises, and can see them 'in action' by experimenting with the accompanying Python sample codes, and so develop familiarity with many techniques commonly employed by publicly available numerical relativity codes. This is an attractive, student-friendly resource for short courses on numerical relativity, as well as providing supplementary reading for courses on general relativity and computational physics.
Lunar Outfitters
The design processes behind a giant leap for mankind Neil Armstrong in a space suit on the moon remains an iconic representation of America's technological ingenuity. Few know that the Model A-7L pressure suit worn by the Apollo 11 astronauts, and the Model A-7LB that replaced it in 1971, originated at ILC Industries (now ILC Dover, LP), an obscure Delaware industrial firm. Longtime ILC space suit test engineer Bill Ayrey draws on original files and photographs to tell the dramatic story of the company's role in the Apollo Program. Though respected for its early designs, ILC failed to win NASA's faith. When the government called for new suit concepts in 1965, ILC had to plead for consideration before NASA gave it a mere six weeks to come up with a radically different design. ILC not only met the deadline but won the contract. That underdog success led to its greatest challenge: winning a race against time to create a suit that would determine the success or failure of the Apollo missions--and life or death for the astronauts. A fascinating behind-the-scenes history of a vital component of the space program, Lunar Outfitters goes inside the suit that made it possible for human beings to set foot on the moon.
The Weaponization of Weather in the Phony Climate War
What if climate change is naturally occurring and cyclical? What if trillions of dollars will be spent to accomplish nothing? What if the real agenda is not about science, climate and weather, but simply uses this as a tool to disrupt and destroy the foundational concepts of one nation, under God, that have led to the greatest quality of life and liberty the world has ever known? At 65, Joe Bastardi is one of the most experienced meteorologists in the world today. His knowledge of past major events puts into perspective the extreme weather events seen today, that are nothing new, and in fact, not as severe as before. In this book, Bastardi goes in-depth to document naturally occurring climate and weather events to question those whose agenda it is to weaponize each weather event for the pursuit of a political and social aim. Of course, the climate is changing, and with the many natural influencers constantly in play, it always will. Thanks to an ever-fluctuating level of activity in the large natural drivers that have always controlled it, such as our Sun, the oceans, stochastic events and the very design of the system itself, climate change is natural. "A single attribution to man as the climate control knob in the face of this is questionable, if not a stretch. The reader should at least look at the ideas presented here," said Bastardi.Joe understands the fear today, given what has been nothing short of public indoctrination. His new book offers an environmentally friendly and inexpensive solution to alleviate those fears, that will not destroy the economic lifeline of this nation as the Green New Deal surely will. It begins with removing the fear that has been pushed to create what is becoming irrational panic, especially with our young. So, is this book important on multiple levels? You decide.

The All is an Egg.
An egg has a hen's way to produce another egg. This essay has no intention of reducing all the facets of human knowledge to a metaphor of one very common item. Instead the egg is used as a focus because of its apparent simplicity, to elaborate from thereon towards the more complicated issue of offering a new synthesis for the fragmentized human knowledge and skills.Such framework can by definition not be reductionist in its concept since it has to offer an umbrella where all aspects of our understanding of the universe, humankind and religion can be assembled. The logarithmic growth of our knowledge has stimulated people to specialize in one particular field, thus causing a further growth of knowledge and compartmentalization. The current system encourages people to know everything about one thing and almost nothing about the rest. The so called ivory tower mentality among scientists is one manifestation of this attitude or, on a more mundane level, the refusal of a cameraman on a film set to replace the empty batteries of his camera because that job has to be done by an electrician. Both examples indicate the power of a socially induced conditioning against knowing or doing something that lies beyond one's very narrowly defined field of competence.Such an emphasis on specialization leaves people at loss once they have to function outside the carefully carved borders of the domain of their acquired skills. It also leaves them with a sense of bewilderment, since almost no one seems to bother anymore about offering a metaphysical frame that allows them to "think the world together". The scientist goes every Sunday with his family to a church where the pastor preaches gruntingly creationism and life after dead. For the rest of the week both of them live in their own bubble, ignoring the dichotomy between their knowledge and spirituality. This essay, far from being of an encyclopedic nature, goes back to the foundations of the three main facets of human abstract thinking: science, art and religion. Evolutions and new insights have emerged in all three of them. This essay wants to bring forward the core aspects that link them together and emphasize that those are stronger than the bifurcation points where they seem to clash. Let's not forget that Einstein has spent half of his life to contest the quantum theory because it apparently clashed with some theorems of his Relativity Theory. It took scientists almost a century to come up with a Grand Unifying Theory that reconciled both. It is my personal hope that this essay could lay out the basics for a new synthesis from where a new paradigm could take hold; a contemporary Philosopher's Egg.In alchemy the egg stands for the chaos apprehended by the artifex, the prima materia containing the captive world-soul. Out of the egg - symbolized by the round cooking vessel - will rise the eagle or phoenix, the liberated soul, which is ultimately identical with the Anthropos who was imprisoned in the embrace of Physis.
Creation God’s Way
According to the book of Genesis, God created the universe in six days. This is supported by scientific evidence. However, scientific evidence also supports evolutionary theories which say the universe appeared by natural processes--no God required. Which theory is correct? Is it creation or evolution? Which idea enhances your personal life? Creation God's Way presents a comprehensive, side-by-side comparison of creation vs. evolution for your thoughtful evaluation, and then emphasizes the importance of your own personal worldview when interpreting scientific data. Millions of people choose to ignore questions about creation and evolution. Don't be one of them! The Immortal Science is a tale of a Shiva and Adi-Sakti, who emerged from Singularity as a pre-destined meet to love and to create the universe. The book is based on the chronology of the universe according to Vedic Science in which mass, energy, space and time are the result of Anahad Naada, which is called 'Big Bang' by modern science.Vedic science narrates the cause of Big Bang and also the stage before the Big Bang, i.e. Anahad Naada, phase of inflation in the form of Maha-Vishnu, and the beginning of time as a Brahma. The summon of Rudra and the onset of war between matter and antimatter, the grand unification theory (Ishaan Shiva) and splitting of four fundamental forces in the form of four Rudras are discussed in this book. The story starts with the appearance of "Pashupat," the radiant effulgence in the form of cosmic microwave background (CMB).
Field Guide to the Weather
Your Guide to Watching Clouds and Understanding the Weather From the soothing sound of rain to the shrill whistle of a blizzard, from the house-shaking rumble of thunder to the violent fury of a hurricane, weather is a fascinating part of our lives. We watch it. We listen to it. We feel it. We try to predict it. But how well do we truly understand it? Professional meteorologist Ryan Henning presents Field Guide to the Weather, a handy reference to meteorology and to the types of weather phenomena that one might encounter at home or in nature. It includes a simple introduction to the basics of meteorology-explaining the aspects of the atmosphere that dictate how weather works. From there, the field guide looks at a variety of individual weather topics: cloud formation (and cloud-type identification), various forms of precipitation, and much more. The author goes on to discuss government-issued watches and warnings, and weather safety. Plus, readers are sure to appreciate the book's helpful guide to interpreting weather forecasts and available model information when planning an afternoon picnic or next week's vacation. Menacing Skies
Imagine: you're blindsided on a dark highway by a half-mile-wide tornado. Or worse: you're aboard a commercial jetliner brought to the ground by a powerful thunderstorm-the deadliest plane crash in Texas history. In Menacing Skies, Dan Henry shares incredible stories of survival from people who have come face-to-face with nature's most violent storms. Dan has covered every type of weather event during his three-decade career as a meteorologist. in this book, he collaborates with other top experts in the field to unravel the mysteries of science that drive our weather. Why do some thunderstorms spawn destructive tornadoes, and others don't? What is "supercharging" hurricanes like Harvey, enabling them to unleash historic flooding? How will climate change affect our weather-and our lives-in the next 100 years? Whether you're an aspiring storm chaser or someone who runs for shelter at the first clap of thunder, Menacing Skies will leave you awed by the power of the human spirit and better prepared for whatever severe weather you encounter.

Evolution and Intelligent Design in a Nutshell
Are life and the universe a mindless accident--the blind outworking of laws governing cosmic, chemical, and biological evolution? That's the official story many of us were taught somewhere along the way. But what does the science actually say? Drawing on recent discoveries in astronomy, cosmology, chemistry, biology, and paleontology, Evolution and Intelligent Design in a Nutshell shows how the latest scientific evidence suggests a very different story.
