The history of information technology begins a few years BC, when ancient civilizations used a wooden structure with rings that had symbols representing mathematical calculations and logical reasoning, to calculate quantities or sales in the commerce of the time. The production of chemicals and fuels from lignocellulosic materials has received particular interest from researchers due to the negative impact of fossil fuels on the environment, as well as the growing concern about geopolitical oil issues around the world. Current research shows the production of second-generation ethanol from lignocellulosic materials as an alternative technology. Sisal fibre is a lignocellulosic material composed basically of cellulose (58%), hemicellulose (15%) and lignin (11%), making it an alternative for second-generation ethanol production in north-eastern Brazil, as it is a crop with a considerable carbohydrate content that can be degraded into fermentable sugars.

Incorporating Bee Honey into School Meals in S瓊o Domingos-PB
The aim of this study was to promote the introduction of bee honey into school meals at an urban elementary school in S瓊o Domingos-PB. The research was descriptive in nature, with a quantitative, qualitative and participatory approach. A sample was taken and questionnaires were administered before and after bee honey was added to school meals. The information was analyzed using Bardin's content analysis technique. It was concluded that the introduction of honey is feasible as long as there is nutritional education. Group 1 students had an acceptability index above the minimum set by the National Education Development Fund, while group 2 students had an acceptability index below the minimum required. The local farmers have shown an interest in producing honey, and the municipal managers have developed real actions that could lead to the permanent inclusion of honey on the school menu and local sustainable development, creating the Municipal Inspection System and establishing partnerships with SEBRAE (Brazilian support service for micro and small enterprises) to encourage the local beekeeping agribusiness.
The Impact of Integration of TCSC on Power Grid Stability
Stability of power grid is an important topic due to the high penetration of wind energy. This needs the development of advanced techniques for the analysis and the study of the system control of power grids. For this reason, this book investigates the efficiency of synchronous machine, using different order models, to describe the dynamic behavior of wind energy and to deal with the influence of the integration of an energy source at the base of synchronous machine on the security and stability of the electricity grid. Five different synchronous machine models are presented. Furhemore, this book proposes to inegrate the TCSC between buses 2 and 5 and shows its influence on power grid. The recommended network is the IEEE 14 bus. A comparative efficiency performance is obtained by processing active and reactive power, showing the evolution of the dynamic angle and voltage. Human and animal lives intersect, whether through direct physical contact or by inhabiting the same space at a different time. Environmental humanities scholars have begun investigating these relationships through the emerging field of multispecies studies, building on decades of work in animal history, feminist studies, and Indigenous epistemologies. Contributors to this volume consider the entangled human-animal relationships of a complex multispecies world, where domesticated animals, wild animals, and people cross paths, creating hybrid naturecultures. Anaerobic Digestion of Food Waste
The generation of food waste grows as the demand for food increases, i.e. it is linked to the entire food production chain. This means that new techniques must be developed to ensure the proper management and treatment of this waste. Anaerobic digestion technology is therefore a fundamental tool for managing food waste in Brazil, as it makes it possible to treat around 50% of waste that would otherwise be destined for landfill and/or disposal in open dumps. It also helps to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into the atmosphere and, at the same time, produces clean, renewable energy. Biogas, the energy gas that comes from the anaerobic digestion process, is very versatile in its use and can be used to generate heat, motive power and electricity.

Beyond Tradition
In order to determine the carbon emissions of a material or building product, the carbon footprint is measured, which is a methodology to measure the GHG emission during its life cycle (van der Lugt & Vogtlander, 2015). In recent times, the term embodied carbon of construction materials and products has come to be synonymous with the term carbon footprint (Sansom & Pope, 2012), where "embodied carbon" is the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by a material throughout its life cycle (Kaminski, et al., 2016). This is covered in more detail in Chapter 2. Many residential, commercial and industrial buildings globally and in South Africa are built with the traditional building technology choices of structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, and clay or concrete masonry. These have been reported as contributing to the GHG emission problem (Kibert, 2016), (Muigai, 2014). Although there is a shift towards using more sustainable and "green" materials, the clients' preference remains directed to using "tried-and-tested" building technologies, particularly from governmental departments. This could be due to lack of knowledge, concern over construction or maintenance issues, or cost implications.

Building Physics, Structural and Safety Engineering
The subjects of building physics, and structural and safety engineering have always been popular research topics globally for scientists across many fields, including, but not limited to, architecture, civil engineering, and safety engineering. In recent years, considerable scientific progress has been achieved regarding the related research themes. This Special Issue is dedicated to recent advances in the design, theoretical, numerical, and experimental study of building physics, structural, and safety engineering, including building systems and materials; energy and environment; green building and architecture; structural engineering; disaster prevention and mitigation projects; smart materials and structures; constructions and composites; structural health monitoring; civil engineering; and architecture. Seismic Risk Analysis and Management of Structure Systems

As the late Professor Nick Ambraseys famously said, "Earthquakes do not kill people-buildings do". Damage to buildings is one of the most serious physical impacts of earthquakes. Damaged buildings result not only in economic losses but also in human casualties and injuries, a lack of housing, and lost incomes. The seismic resilience of buildings is dictated by a multitude of factors associated with the buildings themselves and their complex interactions with the characteristics of ground shaking. This Special Issue focuses on the structural impact of earthquakes on buildings. New Trends in Telecommunications Engineering

Grassland use in Europe
Covering 40% of the European agricultural area, grasslands are vitally important both for agriculture and society. These grasslands serve multiple functions, including the local provision of fodder for animal husbandry (and hence high-quality food provision for people), biodiversity conservation, carbon storage and the provision of 'traditional' landscapes that European citizens appreciate for recreational purposes and cultural heritage. The future of grassland farming in Europe is in the hands of young farmers. Compared to other topics, grassland management has often been a weak point of teaching delivered by agricultural technical schools in several European countries. The training of future farmers and advisors could thus be significantly improved, which could lead to better grassland management in the medium and long terms. For this reason, the European project Inno4Grass created a syllabus and a set of PowerPoint presentations on practical grassland management for current and future generations of grassland farmers and advisors.

Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) is the foundation of image retrieval systems now days. For obtaining more accurate retrieval results, Relevance Feedback (RF) approaches were integrated with CBIR by taking into account the user's feedbacks information. Trademark recognition and retrieval is a vital application component of Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR). It deals with matching of the input trademark or logo with stored trademark images in database. This application, under CBIR umbrella, focuses on optimizing search through database by extracting minimum features from set of the images and using relevance feedback mechanism to identify the relevant images. Geotechnical Assessment of the Proposed Road Tunnel, Khand Birkot- Sarot Doman in Garhwal Himalaya
The use of tunnels in transportation schemes has increased significantly in the last decade, particularly in mountainous regions. Underground space development is a viable long-term option, offering reduced environmental impacts. Tunneling has become popular in mountainous areas due to reduced travel time and costs. The Himalayan region has vast potential for underground constructions in transport systems and hydropower. However, tunneling through the tectonically disturbed lower Himalayan Region poses significant challenges. This study aimed to provide comprehensive data on rock mass classification systems for future excavation and support design studies. Geological and geotechnical properties were investigated along NH-94, and a tunnel route was designed. Fieldwork and laboratory tests were conducted at 16 locations, and RMR values were calculated. The study concluded that the rock masses were classified as fair to poor, with fair rock covering over 3.5 km of the total tunnel length. The RMR values ranged from 52 to 57 for quartzite, 55 to 43 for phyllite, and 43 to 41 for slate. The poor rock quality sections were identified, and the shield method was recommended for those areas. Drilling and blasting methods can be used for the rest of the tunnel excavation.

In this context solutions are needed that respect the historic fabric of these buildings and yet contribute to energy efficiency improvements and CO2 reduction. This volume collects papers given at the 4th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Historic Buildings EEHB2022 at the Fraunhofer Centre for Conservation and Energy Performance of Historic Buildings at Benediktbeuern Monastery, Germany, from May 4th to 5th 2022. It was also discovered that younger patients look for information about the disease on the internet, while older patients turn to more old-fashioned media such as DVDs. It was possible to analyze that there is no variety of material developed for this audience, and it was noticed that the existing material on social networks is not adequate, because it is old, made in a "homemade" way and with information that does not match the reality of the patients. This project consists of producing a series of videos to reinforce the physiotherapy applied in clinics and associations for Parkinson's patients. This production aims to collaborate in the treatment with exercises, in order to promote patient autonomy in a credible material and appropriate language. The exercises do not replace physiotherapy sessions, but complement them.

However, despite significant investments and breakthroughs, state-of-the-art systems are often bested by biology. One only has to look across the street at the neighbor's cat to see an example of an autonomous being that is at once more agile, energy-efficient, and robust to environmental variations than our best quadruped robots. In general, animals excel at complex tasks (e.g. predator evasion) in highly dynamic and unpredictable environments - modern engineering systems, for the most part, cannot achieve comparable performance for even simple subsets of these tasks (e.g. legged locomotion, balancing). This contrast is made more remarkable by the fact that, as previously mentioned, animals are composed of organic components that are in many ways inferior to the metal components that make up our robots. In short, animals attain a level of robust-ness and autonomy that engineers have thus far failed to replicate. By gaining a deeper understanding of how biology accomplishes this, engineers can gain valuable insights to aid in their designs.
