We are witnessing a very exciting time in space exploration and innovation. Among many noteworthy highlights, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is making steady and substantial progress with the Artemis missions which will return humans to the Moon for the first time in 50 years. In April of this year, the European Space Agency (ESA) launched the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) mission, which is headed to our largest planetary neighbor to conduct experiments to help us better understand the gas giant planets in general and Jupiter's environment in particular. JUICE will investigate whether life might be possible beneath the icy layers of Jupiter's moons. In addition, just this summer, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched Chandrayaan-3, a spacecraft that will place a rover on the Moon for further lunar study; if successful, this will make India only the fourth country to land a rover on the Moon. The African Sahel has one of the poorest regional economies in the world. Within it pastoralists are particularly vulnerable because development policy has often failed to address local concerns. Structural control is an approach aimed at the suppressing unwanted dynamic phenomena in civil structures. It proposes the use of methods and tools from control theory for the analysis and manipulation of a structure's dynamic behavior, with emphasis on suppression of seismic and wind responses. This book addresses problems in optimal structural control. Its goal is to provide solutions and techniques for these problems by using optimal control theory. Thus, it deals with the solution of optimal control design problems related to passive and semi-active controlled structures. The formulated problems consider constraints and excitations which are common in structural control. Optimal control theory is used in order to solve these problems in a rigorous manner. Even though there are many works in this field, none comprise optimization techniques with firm theoretical background that address the solution of passive and semi-active structural control design problems. The book begins with a discussion on models which are commonly used for civil structures and control actuators. Modern theoretical notions, such as dissipativity and passivity of dynamic systems are discussed in context of the addressed problems. Optimal control theory and suitable successive methods are reviewed. Novel solutions for optimal passive and semi-active control design problems are derived, based on firm theoretical foundations. These results are verified by numerical simulations of typical civil structures which are subjected to different types of dynamic excitations.

Assessment of Cadmium in Chicken Meat and Offal. Food Safety and Food Poisoning
Project Report from the year 2015 in the subject Chemistry - Food Chemistry, grade: A, University of Ibadan, course: Zoology, language: English, abstract: This study was carried out on the evaluation of cadmium in chicken meat and offal in Bodija, Sango and Ojoo markets in Ibadan between July and October, 2015. The appraisal was aimed at assessing the cadmium that can be accumulated in the kidney, liver, intestine, blood, muscle and the feathers. Ten mature chickens were bought and dissected to remove the chicken meat and offal samples. This samples were oven-dried separately and pulverised into powdered form through grinding with a mortar and pestle. These were acid-digested for cadmium analyses using Buck Scientific 210 VGP Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The results showed varying mean concentrations in the intestine (0.713簣0.024 ppm), feather (0.702簣0.035 ppm) and muscle (0.592簣0.019 ppm) with low mean concentrations in the blood (0.426簣0.032 ppm), liver (0.432簣0.021 ppm) and kidney (0.352簣0.027 ppm). Most of the chicken meat and offal samples were above the WHO guideline limit of 0.05 ppm. The Target Hazard Quotient (THQ) from the study was below 1 which is indicative that the general populace in this study area is not at risk. It is therefore recommended that regular biomonitoring should be carried out on chicken meat and offal locally and globally for the purpose of food safety.

Virtual and Remote Control Tower
This book presents the interdisciplinary and international "Virtual and Remote Tower" research and development work. It has been carried out since nearly twenty years with the goal of replacing the conventional aerodrome control tower by a new "Remote Tower Operation" (RTO) work environment for enhancing work efficiency and safety and reducing cost. The revolutionary human-system interface replaces the out-of-windows view by an augmented vision video panorama that allows for remote aerodrome traffic control without a physical tower building. It enables the establishment of a (multiple) remote control center (MRTO, RTC) that may serve several airports from a central location. The first (2016) edition of this book covered all aspects from preconditions over basic research and prototype development to initial validation experiments with field testing. Co-edited and -authored by DLR RTO-team members Dr. Anne Papenfuss and J繹rn Jakobi, this second extended edition with nearly doubled number of chapters includes further important aspects of the international follow-up work towards the RTO-deployment. Focus of the extension with new contributions from ENRI/Japan and IAA/Dublin with Cranfield University, is on MRTO, workload, implementation, and standardization. Wilbur was talking about the most important of their predecessors, Otto Lilienthal. Lilienthal attracted worldwide attention due to the spectacular photographs showing him in flight, made possible by technology that had only just been developed by him. This fortuitousunion between a pioneer of aviation and the pioneers of so-called "instantaneous photography" is responsible for the immense contemporary popularity of Lilienthal's flights around the globe, the first ever free flights performed by man. This book traces the life of the German aviation pioneer, focusing on the designs of his many aircraft and the photographic documentation that has survived.
