Searching for Your Chinese Birth Family
This book was written to benefit the 120,000 Chinese adoptees and their adoptive parents, who began adopting these children (mostly girls) beginning in the late 1990s and continuing to this day. Most adoptive families are provided very little information by the Chinese Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA) about their child's early heritage. According to the CCCWA nearly all of these children were abandoned by their birth parents. Although some children were truly abandoned, in most cases other factors contributed to these children being relinquished for adoption. Many Chinese adoptees desire to re-connect with their first families but do not know how to go about searching in a manner that will result in a successful search. This book was designed to address that challenge. This book is the first and only book on this topic. At age five the author's daughter, Mia, who was adopted from China in 2003, asked her adoptive parents to help locate her Chinese birth parents. Although her adoptive parents did not know whether it was possible to find Mia's birth family they agreed to help. Fifteen years later, during October 2020 Mia discovered the identity of her biological parents and siblings. The book presents all the lessons this family learned during their search. It provides detailed information about the three primary types of search that can be used to locate Chinese birth family members and recommends how best to search, if Chinese adoptees and their adoptive parents hope to perform a successful search. This information can be used to expedite the search and prevent the searcher from wasting precious time and resources spent on activities that almost certainly will not result in a successful search. Rather, searchers can learn from this family's experience, pursue their own search in a more effective manner, and eventually succeed in less time and at a lower cost.2021, 81/2x11, paper, index, 142 pp.

Montgomery County, Maryland Deed Books
This volume presents abstracts taken from Montgomery County, Maryland, Deed Books: Liber O, Liber P, and Liber Q, 1808-1813. In these abstracts you may find interesting aspects of your ancestors' lives. Entries generally contain the full name of the person recording the item and the date, the full name(s) of the seller(s) and the purchaser(s) involved in the sale, the sold amount, and a description of the item sold. Descriptions for land typically include location and number of acres. Descriptions for property typically include a list of items sold. Descriptions for slaves typically include the name and age of the slave. Entries offer varying amounts of additional information as available. The deed books contain many non-land items, including information about slave sales and manumissions, as well as mortgages of both real and personal (chattel) property. Occasionally, other documents are also recorded, such as bills of sale, which often contain the names of family members. This volume will be of particular interest to anyone researching African American family history because of the large number of manumissions in the early 1800s, especially among Quaker and Methodist families. An index to "Exceptional items", an index to full-names, an index to place names, and an index to land tract names add to the value of this work.2021, 81/2x11, paper, index, 184 pp
Essex County, Marriage Records, 1884-1921
This work presents marriage records for Essex County, Virginia for the period 1884 to 1921. It continues publication of marriage records after those by this compiler and Suzanne P. Derieux for the period 1850-1883. The major difference here is that the format is condensed to include only the pertinent data rather than reproducing the printed form of either the marriage register, marriage license, or related record pieces. The critical notice to users is that Marriage Register 1, that is titled and runs 1804-1921, contains for the subject period the data for when the marriage was planned. That said, the procedure was that when the groom and bride applied for a marriage license, the court clerk recorded the planned information in the register. This included statistics about the parties: their marital status, age, race, place of birth, place of residence, and the names of their parents. At that time the couple was issued a license that was to be completed by an officiating minister with the actual date of marriage, place of marriage, and signed by the officiating minister. This actual information was not updated in the previously-created register. Because of this, there is routinely a difference between the register information and the license information.Data are presented in a standard sequence that is similar to what is found in the register: name of parties, groom to bride; notation as to race when non-white, i.e. (C) for colored or (F) for free, etc.; date of marriage (planned if no marriage license survives, else updated from license); place of marriage; page and line of Marriage Register 1 in which the data are found; ages of the groom and bride; marital status of the groom and bride; place of birth of the groom and bride; place of residence of the groom and bride; parents of the groom and bride; occupation of the groom; minister officiating the marriage; and remarks, if any, including notation of parental or guardian consent.Several facsimile reprints of original marriage documents and an index to full-names, places and occupations add to the value of this work.2021, 81/2x11, paper, index, 252 pp

New Castle County, Delaware Land Records, 1755-1762
Land record books were a type of catch-all for many legal documents other than land records. Documents found can include deeds, bonds, releases, powers of attorney, appointments, mortgages, agreements, judgements, quit claims, and more. Relationships are often revealed in the descriptions of the property. This volume includes the records found in Liber S1, which covers 1 August 1755 - 29 February 1760 (pages 1 to 113); and Liber T1, which covers 11 April 1760 - 24 June 1762 (pages 114 to 215). Restored Hamilton County, Ohio, Marriages, 1808-1849
Volume 1 OnlyOn March 24, 1884 a great tragedy struck Cincinnati. A riot started that evening in the downtown area and resulted in the burning of the Hamilton County Courthouse. This fire destroyed many of the records in the courthouse, including marriage license applications and returns. Apparently many of the older records (before 1860) were stored in another part of the courthouse and did not sustain as extensive damage as those from the period 1860 until March 1884; however, the license returns before 1860 have entire month gaps where there are no records surviving, and some records are missing first or last names. Since this index is concerned with the time period before 1850, it is important to note that there were several previous fires that completely or partially destroyed the courthouse. This index contains almost 23,000 marriages which occurred in Hamilton County before 1850. The primary base of information for this index is the restored marriage license applications and returns that are still available at the Hamilton County Courthouse. To try to compensate for some gaps in those records, and also to help the researcher locate additional sources of information, church records were checked when available and permitted. Many of the names in church registers were not written in English during this time. All of the German Protestant churches kept their records and used the Old German script style of handwriting, which makes interpretation very difficult. Almost all of the Catholic churches kept their records in Latin. This index is arranged alphabetically in two sections, first by groom and then by brides.
A Noll Chronicle
A Noll Chronicle is the story of German Immigrants to the United States, their travels through the country, and their successes and failures. Unlike many family histories, this chronicle includes background information on the times and places these immigrants lived in. Zahner and Reverend Moritz Noll of the German Reformed Church in Ohio and traces the life of William F. Albrecht, who goes from being a butcher to a major land trader and house builder in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Author David Noll focuses most of this telling on his grandfather, Gus Noll, who helps start the airline that eventually becomes TWA.Multiple families who are offspring of Gus Noll still reside in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; in addition to Las Cruces, New Mexico; the Seattle area in Washington; North Carolina; New Jersey; Montana; and other states.

Lemon's Hand Book of Marshall County, Kentucky
By: J.R. Lemon, Pub. 1894, reprinted 2021, 186 pages, New Index, soft cover, ISBN #978-1-63914-043-5.Marshall County was formed in 1842 from Calloway County. It lies in the far Western portion of the state surrounded by Calloway, Graves, McCracken, Trigg, Lyon and Livingston counties along with being a stone's throw from the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. Due to its geography, settlers began showing up in this area around 1818, just after the Jackson Purchase of these lands from the Chickasaw Indians. The citizens of the county were sympatric to the Confederate side during the Civil War. Many of her residents belonged to the famous Kentucky Orphan Brigade. This book has many of the usual topics being discussed: early history, creation of the county, early settlements, government, churches, economics, early hangings and etc.. Over half of the book is devoted to biographical sketches of these early residents of the county.

Marriage and Death Notices from Baptist Newspapers of South Carolina, Volume 2
his volume contains marriage and death notices from the three Baptist newspapers which were published in South Carolina following the Civil War: The South Carolina Baptist (1866-1868) published at Anderson, The Working Christian (1869-1878) published first in Yorkville and later (beginning 19 May 1870) in Charleston, and The Baptist Courier (1878-1887). The notices are from all over South Carolina; however, the lion's share concern the Barnwell County area.In the difficult post-war years many people could not afford to erect tombstones or erected only wooden stones, which have long since weathered away. For some of those interred, an obituary notice may be the only record of their death. Marriage notices are especially important in South Carolina, where there was no state-wide marriage license law until 1 July 1911.A full-name index, prepared by James D. McKain, adds to the value of this work.(1996), 2021, 6x9, paper, index, 360 pp

The People of Perth and Kinross, 1800-1850
This book identifies people resident in the adjacent counties of Perthshire and Kinross-shire, as well as people abroad who originated there, between 1800 and 1850. The two counties now form a unitary administrative unit, known as Perth and Kinross, centered on the city of Perth. The information found in this volume is derived from a wide range of archival sources such as court records, contemporary newspapers and journals, monumental inscriptions, and other documents. The entries connect emigrants, their destinations--especially in North America, the West Indies, and Australasia--with their kin who remained in Scotland. Following is one such entry: ""ANDERSON, ALEXANDER, born 1772, a labourer from Fortingall, with his wife Isobel born 1776, son John born 1798, daughter Ann born 1800, daughter Christian born 1802, and daughter Isabel born 1804, emigrated aboard the Clarendon of Hull bound for Prince Edward Island in August 1808. [NSARM] [TNA.CO226.23]"" The period covered in this volume was one of rapid change in Scottish society brought about by the agricultural revolution and Industrial revolution, The former led to the formation of larger farms causing the surplus rural population to drift to the rapidly expanding factory towns. For example, in Perthshire the land-loom weavers who produced textiles in their home were replaced by textile mills, in towns like Stanley. The population of the city of Perth grew by 19,000 between 1755 and 1821, while that of Blairgowrie increased almost tenfold in the same period. Genealogists possessing ancestors from this era are encouraged to consult the Statistical Report of Scotland (the O.S.A.) compiled between 1791 and 1799; and the New Statistical Report, researched between 1832 and 1845, to put their ancestors into historical context. Both sources are available on the website of the National Library of Scotland.
