Digital Embodiment and the Arts
A timely examination of the use of emerging technologies in the arts in recent decades. This book explores the notion of embodied experience from the first wave of virtual reality through the current use of mixed, augmented, and extended realities. It highlights the necessity of understanding technological experiences through the assumption that all experience is embodied. Access to new technological tools has given way to an explosion of digital culture and experience, allowing artists and creative practitioners new ways of exploring a hybridization of creative practices. While individual aspects and themes covered here can be found in some recent books, few place digital embodiment within the arts in the way this book does. This unique synthesis first analyzes embodied experience through a study of space and virtuality, imagination, and technology. It next lays the groundwork for a more explicit understanding of the role of the body in our engagement with digital technologies, focusing on three distinct bodies: the gravitational body, the virtual body, and the hybrid body. The final section is a chronological exploration of the technological developments of virtual reality, virtual worlds, and augmented, mixed, and extended realities.
The subtleties of screenwriting between text and drama
Cinema in French-speaking Africa in general and in Cameroon in particular is sick of its screenwriting. Between the amateurism of those who take part in it and the speed of their work, the stories proposed are only written texts which lack soul and cannot hold their place as masters at all stages of production. The facilities offered by digital technology from the dawn of the third millennium have created greater neglect of the scenario object. As a result, production operations go in all directions and their result, the film, creates little enthusiasm and has no impact. Which also removes cinema from its status as a major media and development tool.This work, entitled "The subtleties of screenwriting between text and drama", returns to the elements which form the range of this problem. The Garden
Seeking to ride out the chaos of the pandemic in more familiar territory, the author and his partner secured a seat on one of the last Australian Government flights out of Mumbai, a decision that would see them separated for almost a year. Within a few months, having left the twenty-fourth floor of an apartment building in Mumbai, he passed through a half-dozen dark and empty airports to finally wash-up in a garden in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The hot weather and the forced marches making the soldiers sick reduced Napoleon織s Grande Arm矇e fom abt 450.000 to only 120.000 a the time he reached Moscow. More famous is the bitter winter during the withdrawal which reduced his fighting force to an est 1.500 and only abt 100.000 made it back. Napoleon didn織t have the supplies the Russians had. The great battles were few as the Russians avoided most of them and instead they employed scorched earth and guerilla tactics to beat Napoleon. His Russia campaign would lead to the end of his grip on Europa. The campaign is full of great names on both sides and it is impossible to do justice to them all in a small book like this one. Many famous artists have depicted this epic war. We hope the readers will enjoy our selection of art work.

Culture in CrisisThe right of access to, and enjoyment of, cultural heritage is enshrined in human rights norms and the devastating effects of armed conflict on cultural heritage are well documented, with the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage having been an integral part of warfare throughout history. Culture now, once again, finds itself on war's frontline Marking the 70th anniversary of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, and in the current context of devastating conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan, among others, Heritage at War - Plan and Prepare brings together military, academic, and heritage practitioners' voices from across the Euro-Atlantic, North Africa and the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific to explore how lessons learned from past experiences of conflict can inform approaches to the safeguarding of cultural heritage today. Money Games Economies
Terms like "money", "finance", or "economy" might, at first glance, not seem particularly playful, but they describe concepts that are at the very heart of many game-related phenomena. A closer look reveals that the fiscal and the ludic converge more often, and on more levels, than those concerned with either of these fields would care to admit. Sometimes these links are tangible and concrete, as when games use various kinds of in-game currency, or when games are viewed as part of a business generating immense revenues. In other cases, the relation is more abstract: many games challenge their players to exhibit what might well be described as an "economic mindset", while economic enterprises and entrepreneurship are often discussed in terms of games to be won or lost, games in which success or failure depend on an understanding of the "system", and on the skills required to "play" it to one's advantage. These are also highly ideological matters, revealing how easily the games we make and play reproduce our own capitalist primings, and how, on the other hand, the neoliberal world image Is fueled by logics of gaming and gambling, of competition and zero-sum games. And finally, the systemic nature of games, and even the freedoms of play, are easily exploited for economic gain, of which addictive gambling-mechanics are only the most prominent example; but the same features that enable such dark patterns in game design make it possible to draw attention to exploitative mechanisms in games and beyond, and make us address our own willingness to be paid off with immediate pleasure while ignoring the long term cost.
