Founded by Robert Feldman in New York, the publisher came to prominence for introducing a generation of Minimalist and Conceptual artists to printmaking. Working in the 1970s with artists such as Mel Bochner, Sol LeWitt, Robert Mangold, Brice Marden, Agnes Martin, Edda Renouf, Dorothea Rockburne, and Robert Ryman, Parasol's editions were among the decade's most ambitious prints, showcasing the complex and varied ways Minimalist artists explored the materiality of printed surfaces while challenging the medium's limits. More Than Meets the Eye
Discover a century of African art, from its emergence to today's global success, driven by an ancestral vision and modern expression. The Swiss family-owned banking group CBH Compagnie Bancaire Helv矇tique SA has been putting together its own art collection for over fifteen years. Modern and contemporary African art is one of its major themes. The works in this catalogue (paintings, sculptures, photographs) span about a century (1929-2025). All were created by artists who were born, or spent part of their lives, in sub-Saharan Africa. The growing success of the African artists of today undoubtedly stems from the artistic legacy of their ancestors, whose dazzling colors reflect a profoundly original worldview that addresses social and environmental themes. Missionaries and a few colonial administrators with an eye for art identified a number of interesting artists in the 1920s. Although African art - in the Congo, Kenya, and South Africa in particular - developed throughout the 20th century, recognition only came in the 1960s. The creation of art schools in the continent's major cities promoted cultural re-appropriation through new types of expression based on an encounter between traditional African forms and modern aesthetic sensibilities emerging in the new conurbations. Artistic movements burgeoning at the turn of the millennium confirmed and reinforced the vitality of this art. It was a period that saw dynamic figures come to the fore on the global art scene. Contemporary artists turned their attention to the "Black Atlantic" and the African-American communities it explored. Africa is now able to send its own message to the world. As a result, nearly 80 artists are represented in the "Au-del? des Apparences" (More than Meets the Eye) exhibition at the Mus矇e Rath.

Fifty years of American artist Carroll Dunham's distinctive, energetic drawings For five decades, Carroll Dunham (b. 1949) has created paintings, prints, and sometimes sculptures, but drawing has always been the foundation of his practice. He has archived thousands of drawings as part of his daily routine, a selection of which are presented here and many of which have never been published before. As a young artist in the 1980s, Dunham asserted himself as a painter and worked abstractly at a time when Expressionism was ascendent. In subsequent decades his biomorphic abstractions gave way to outright figuration, with the artist creating hypersexualized, cartoon-like, violent, and sometimes grotesque characters that have been linked to underground comix, West Coast Funk Art, or Midwestern Chicago Imagism. His current work features green and purple people in bucolic landscapes engaged in battle or bacchanal. Other works consider the role of the artist, artist's studio, and art object, deeply influenced by philosophy, psychology, and an examination of gender and sexuality. Azechi Umetaro
Umetaro Azechi was born in 1902 in Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture, on the island of Shikoku. For someone who intended to pursue a career as an artist, Umetaro's life began with two disadvantages: his birthplace was far from the major cities, and his parents were poor farmers.Nevertheless, Umetaro Azechi wanted to become an artist. Often, people from an underdog position develop astonishing energy when they have a goal in mind. Umetaro belonged to this species. He purchased a correspondence art course from Tokyo. In 1920, he came to Tokyo, took a job as a newspaper delivery boy, and continued his correspondence art course.When Tokyo was hit by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, Umetaro Azechi was happy to return to his hometown. But two years later, he returned to Tokyo. He felt that he would not be able to fulfill his dream of an artistic career in the provinces. He got a new job at a government printing company. The company had the necessary tools and materials for printing, and Azechi began experimenting with zinc plates without any training.His art style was primitive, but intentionally so in the same way as the naive artists. He used the same striped patterns on both people and animals, showing the similarities between the two.
