Philippians
The epistle to the Philippian church was written by Paul when he was advanced in years and imprisoned for preaching the gospel. Despite its relatively brief length, Philippians has been a letter of critical importance in the history of Christian thought, and it remains so today. This commentary explores the content of Philippians through linguistic discourse analysis, a relatively recent but increasingly influential approach in New Testament studies. Jae Hyun Lee provides a meticulous analysis of the Greek text, offering guidance to modern readers in comprehending the themes and flow of Paul's message. This commentary offers a valuable model for careful and sensitive engagement with the Bible.
REFLECTIONS from our Bible Studies
A collection of inspiring and practical messages for Christians of all ages.
The Afternoon of Christianity
Tom獺s Hal穩k provides a poignant reflection on Christianity's crisis of faith while offering a vision of the self-reflection, love, and growth necessary for the church to overcome and build a deeper and more mature faith. In a world transformed by secularization and globalization, torn by stark political and social distrust, and ravaged by war and pandemic, Christians are facing a crisis of faith. In The Afternoon of Christianity, Tom獺s Hal穩k reflects on past and present challenges confronting Christian faith, drawing together strands from the Bible, historic Christian theology, philosophy, psychology, and classic literature. In the process, he reveals the current crisis as a crossroads: one road leads toward division and irrelevance, while the other provides the opportunity to develop a deeper, more credible, and mature form of church, theology, and spirituality--an afternoon epoch of Christianity. The fruitfulness of the reform and the future vibrancy of the Church depends on a reconnection with the deep spiritual and existential dimension of faith. Hal穩k argues that Christianity must transcend itself, giving up isolation and self-centeredness in favor of loving dialogue with people of different cultures, languages, and religions. The search for God in all things frees Christian life from self-absorption and leads toward universal fraternity, one of Pope Francis's key themes. This renewal of faith can help the human family move beyond a clash of civilizations to a culture of communication, sharing, and respect for diversity.
The Ailbe Psalter
The singing of psalms has been a distinguishing characteristic of Christians from every tradition, throughout the entire history of the Christian movement. In our day more and more people are discovering the deep meaning and great joy that can come from using the psalms in personal and corporate worship. It is with great satisfaction that The Fellowship of Ailbe is pleased to make its psalter available for wider use in the Body of Christ.

This isn't just a story of survival-it's a story of calling. If you've ever wondered whether your pain has a purpose, this book will remind you: **You weren't meant to stay down. You were meant to climb back.**Helen Konoma is a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and survivor whose life is a living testimony of faith, resilience, and divine purpose. Born in Nigeria with sickle cell anemia and later surviving a life-threatening coma, Helen turned unimaginable pain into powerful purpose. Her voice is one of hope, healing, and spiritual strength for those walking through their own valleys.
Love Unlimited
We have all proclaimed those sought-after, magical words to someone before - I love you. Those three tiny words have such a big impact. They can bring validation, mend broken hearts, and even draw people closer together. But, to appreciate love and to live it out in its truest form, you first have to gain an understanding of what it is. So, how do you define love?"Love Unlimited" offers readers a thorough explanation of what love is and what it is not. The author, Damone Paul Johnson, uses 15 verbs found in 1 Corinthians 13 - one of the Bible's most authoritative narratives on love - to demonstrate the proper way of showing love to others. It dissects the source of love by expounding on God's qualities and challenges readers to live out those same qualities, which is what God expects from us. Readers will discover limitless love and learn how to apply that in their everyday lives.
Christianity and Agroecology
This Element draws on the transdisciplinary field of agroecology to clarify and deepen Catholic social teaching's natural law ethic. In response to the ecological crisis, social teaching has begun to appeal to ecology and the exemplarity of natural ecosystems to foster care of creation. Some have criticized this natural law ethic, along with its invocations of balance and harmony, as overly idealized, advocating instead for an alternative view in which ecological dynamism and ambiguity preclude appeals to ecology for guidance. While sympathizing with these criticisms, this Element offers a different way forward, contending that social teaching's natural law ethic should be revised rather than abandoned. Agroecology displays an approach to tilling and keeping the earth that accommodates dynamism and ambiguity, while also discerning ecological principles and processes that are mimicked agriculturally. In short, this Element argues that engaging agroecology can help social teaching clarify, concretize, and deepen its understanding of natural law.
God and Technology
This Element brings work from the philosophy of technology into conversation with media, religion, culture studies, and work in digital religion studies to explore examples of how popular media and emerging technologies are increasingly framed and understood through a distinct range of spiritual myths, metaphors, images, and representations of God. Working with three case studies about how internet memes, popular films, and media coverage of public philosophy link ideas about God and technology, this Element draws attention to common conceptions that describe a perceived relationship between religion and technology today. It synthesizes these discussions and categories and presents them in four distinct models, showing a range of ways in which the relationship between God and technology is commonly depicted. The Element seeks to create a platform for scholarly study and critical discourse on technology's religious and spiritual representation in digital and emerging media cultures and contexts through this work.

God's Just Judgment of a Nation
God gives an amazing word about nations in the Minor Prophets in the Bible that is being worked out before our eyes. This word fits into fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission and also the judgment of spiritual darkness that has come on many nations in the past 80 years. The choice of the U.S. or any other nation for or against joining itself to the Lord Jesus depends crucially on the work or lack of it by the Christians there. We get to see what God calls believers to do to save their land. This book focuses on the God-ordered sequence of Joel, Amos, and Jonah, includes the strong conclusion from Malachi, and keeps to the main picture about nations today. This main picture includes what Ephesians, 2Chron. 7:13-14, and Romans 8 show is needed to receive the blessed future of a nation in Jesus instead of a just destruction.
Work, Service and Sacrifice
A Dharma Guru is a teacher who speaks out against exploitation and injustice, who makes His followers fight against this and who gives a new vision, mission and spiritual practice (yoga) to create a new humanity and a new human society. It is easy to ignore the structural violence or the himsa that is part and parcel of the way in which human society operates today. It is easy to preach morality, do charity and keep silent at how a handful of capitalists are robbing, bombing, starving and killing so many people, animals and plants. Not just a Dharma Guru, but any righteous person will raise their voice and take action against this pervasive criminality and himsa.
Etheric Materialization Into Form
To you the reader: Enclosed is a writing that came to me one night when I was half asleep. Actually, it surprised me. I, like so many others, have been searching for a way to manifest my desires. Will what you read herein work for you? I don't know; I think it can. Let me just say, if you make this writing your own than I will say YES, it can work for you. Perhaps the most difficult part here is an understanding of terms. For example, the word etheric, what does that term mean? Does it have something to do with the ether? And didn't science prove long ago there is no such thing as an ether? How about the word light? Wow, there is a term that has multiple meanings. So, a good part of this treatise is to get a familiarity of terms, at least as I am using them. Also, I use a number to quotes, some from my earlier writings and some from other authors. I think they help in clarifying things. For titles that are from other authors, I list the author and the title. For titles from my own writings, I just list the title. So, if you see a quote that does not have an author listed you can assume the author is me. I hope you will give some time and thought to this writing. We are living in very uncertain times. Navigating through these times is not easy. I am only here to open a door; it is up to you to walk through it. Christopher Alan Anderson

Seeing Through Religion
Seeing Through Religion is a cutting-edge textbook designed to help students in their study and research of the world's religious traditions. Providing the tools to learn this valuable subject theoretically, McGovern argues that religion isn't a thing out there in the world; it's the glasses on your face through which you see the world, shaped by Western history and, in particular, Christianity. By exploring the major religious traditions and comparing stereotypes about them to reality, this textbook establishes how the lens of "religion" systematically distorts our perception of the world. Topics covered include: What Is Religion? Colonialism and the Two Faces of Orientalism Islam: Does Fear Imply Difference? Buddhism: A Philosophy or a Religion? Hinduism: A Polytheistic or a Monotheistic Religion? Chinese Religion: What Is It, and Where Can We Find It? Indian Religions: How Can One Religion "Include" Another? Tibetan Buddhism: Is It Still Buddhism? Judaism: A Religion or an Ethnicity? Indigenous Traditions: What Gets Counted as a Religion? Secularism: Can We Put Religion in a Box? How is the way we think about religion influenced by the theology of Martin Luther? How does the Christian paradigm of religion distort our perception of Christianity itself? This textbook not only provides a survey of important religious traditions but also guides the reader on how to study religion in a methodologically sophisticated way. This innovative volume is essential reading for those who want a contemporary and engaging approach to the study of world religions.
Political Theology Reimagined
Political theology has emerged as an enormously energetic, creative way of exploring the complex relationships between religion, politics, and culture around the world. Political Theology Reimagined centers decolonial, Black, queer, feminist, and Marxist modes of critical practice to offer a cutting-edge vision of the field that foregrounds a political theology animated by both a fascination with and a suspicion of the secular. Among other things, contributors explore how religious ideas, practices, and imaginations are inflected by anti-Blackness, patriarchy, and colonial histories; theorize anew the status of secularization narratives; probe the universality and translatability of conceptual abstractions; and experiment with the powers of genealogy and speculation. In short, they grapple with religion and critique in all their complexity, opening new itineraries in political theology by transforming its fundamental theoretical coordinates. Traversing diverse sites, from South Asia to the Middle East to Indigenous North America, and working across diverse scales, from the national to the planetary to the cosmic, this volume models the future of political theology by pairing rigorous critique with a commitment to collective liberation. Life After Death
Everyone has questions about what happens after they die. For non-believers, the question is simple: "How do we know whether there is life after death?" For those who believe in the afterlife, the questions include "Are we going to be judged differently from one another in the judgment?", "Is hell real and, if so, who goes there?", "Are we going to be reunited with our loved ones in heaven?" and, for children, "Do pets go to heaven?" Readers will find in this book the answers to these and many other questions they have asked, but for which they never knew the answer."This book is clearly one of the best resources one can find today on life after death. Practically every important question people have asked about life after death is answered here. And the questions are answered in the clear, simple style which has characterised the author's writings on matters of faith in his more than twenty years of answering questions each week in various publications. The book is extremely difficult to put down once the reader picks it up, and it makes an ideal gift for the occasions that often occur in passing encounters or conversations whenever the subject of death and the afterlife come up. Readers will not be disappointed." - Peter Rosengren, former Catholic newspaper editor About the author: John Flader has a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Harvard and a Doctorate in Canon Law from the University of Navarre, Spain. Since 1968 he has been in Australia, working with students at the University of New South Wales, the University of Tasmania, RMIT University, and various schools in Sydney.

This is Odinism
The three most prominent pioneers of modern Odinism in the English speaking world were Rud Mills, Else Christensen and "Stubba" (John Yeowell). Stubba's writings have been sadly unavailable in recent years. Now, for the first time, a collection of his most important pamphlets is reprinted, in an anthology that also includes several of his occasional essays from the British Odinist magazine he edited, "Raven Banner". The compiler of this anthology corresponded with Stubba from 1972 until 2010, and has since conducted extensive interviews with people who personally knew the legendary founder of the London-based Odinic Rite.

The Gnosis of the Mind
"The Gnosis of the Mind" is one of the most profound and inspiring texts of spirituality and gnosis. What is Gnosis? Why is it called the Religion of the Mind? What is the mystery of mysteries? What is the mind and what is its role? Does it oppose the heart? How is enlightenment or awakening achieved through Gnosis? An essential book for those who seek to understand gnosis and the Mysteries of the Mind, the Soul, and the Self!WHAT IS THE GNOSIS OF THE MIND?George R. S. Mead introduces us to the "Mystery of mysteries" the Mind. The Mind is the divine principle that seeks itself through the soul and the body. The center of being and the key to spiritual realization. The Mind is not only that which knows, but also the object of all knowledge - it creates itself in order to know itself, and to know itself it must first not know itself. It is the Great Initiator, the Master of all wisdom and also of all ignorance. For Mead, Gnosis is not a doctrine or a religion, not a cult of intellect, but a path of inner transformation in which the soul awakens to its divine origin through the harmonious union of body, soul, and mind. This awakening is not a mere intellectual act but a living process that includes inner knowledge and self-initiation into the Mysteries of God.A MASTERPIECE OF SPIRITUALITY AND GNOSISA faithful re-edition of The Gnosis of the Mind, a work included in the Echoes from the Gnosis collection written by George Robert Stow Mead in 1906. Illustrated Edition. The Gnosis of the Mind is a book of gnosis and spirituality. A spiritual quest for when religion or science fail to satisfy. Gnosis is the knowledge and experience of God. Mead suggests that the human being is a world unto itself - a microcosm destined to reunite with the Whole. Gnosis is the process by which consciousness overcomes ignorance through self-knowledge, leading to the Gnosis of God, where the soul, consciousness, and mind recognize themselves as children of the divine Mind.AN ESSENTIAL BOOK OF GNOSIS - A GUIDE TO SPIRITUALITYAn inspiring book that explains the mystical teachings of the Gnostic tradition. Revelation - The end of Times?
The book of Revelation often challenges Christians as it poses myriad questions: Are we currently living in the end of times? If not, can these times be predicted-and if so, how? What exactly will occur during these times, and how can we ensure a favorable outcome for ourselves, our families, our Churches? Revelation: End of Times? answers these questions and decodes "Revelation". Through vivid exploration of concepts, descriptive anecdotal evidence, and insightful diagrams, the book provides an essential strategy guide. Revelation: End of Times lays out the key players and chess moves surrounding these turbulent times-and most importantly-offers practical tools by which to measure your state of readiness. - Lisa Turnbull
Suffering
If God exists, does he care about his evolving, suffering world? Most answers are unsatisfactory. Morris's book is different: short but not superficial, strong in its science and philosophy, and realistic as a carer of a handicapped teenage grandson, still unable to walk and talk. Like Stephen Hawking and Einstein, John Morris also tries to explore the mind of God. Violence began with the Big Bang, long before legendary Adam's sin. Morris believes God is typically non-interventionist but constantly interactive, operating creatively within his own physical laws, that allow freedom to particles and people, resulting in innovations and mutations, not always beneficial. Compared with other religions, Christ's cross and resurrection give more historic hope in a God who suffers alongside us, to create good, responsible persons. Here is a 100-minute read, of interest to believers and atheists alike. Its brave conclusion gives reasonable grounds for thinking we live in a loving God's best possible world, despite unavoidable suffering and natural disasters.
Hunting the Nazarene
Are you ready for the Truth? Citing historical evidence, including a secret mathematical code in the Gospel of John, John Koerner makes a compelling case that in the mysterious forty days after Jesus rose from the dead he was hunted down, executed, and resurrected a second time. The product of years of research and analysis, Hunting the Nazarene follows the evidence that the Catholic Church covered up the second resurrection for centuries.
The Guard of the Tree of Life, a Discourse on the Sacraments
This rare work by Bolton is what he calls a sacramental discourse on sanctifying God's name in the coming to and participation in (particularly) of the Lord's Supper; though his exposition is applicable to any of God's ordinances. From Leviticus 10:3, Bolton explains three key doctrines: 1. That they who have anything to do with any ordinance of God, draw near to God. 2. That they who draw near to God in any ordinance, must sanctify God in it. 3. That if we do not sanctify God in an ordinance, he will be sanctified on us. Bolton makes application of how faith works, how repentance works and how to have a holy reverence of God and his ordinances. This is not a scan or facsimile, and has been updated in modern English for easy reading. It also has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
The Soul's Porter, or a Treatise on the Fear of God
Price's works are rare. The first is a treatise on the fear of God. He expounds, "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom," Proverbs 1:7, and, "Let us hear the conclusion of all: Fear God..." Eccl. 12:13. He covers the nature and kinds of fear in general and more specifically and practically the fear of God. He shows the proper distinguishable symptoms of the fear of God, and essential ingredients that constitute true, genuine fear. Price gives a serious exhortation to fear God as well as the means by which the fear of God may be worked on and increased. Also contained in the volume is his sermon "Man's Delinquency Attended by Divine Justice Intermixed with Mercy." This is not a scan or facsimile, and has been updated in modern English for easy reading. It also has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
Nurturing Happiness
How does religious faith contribute to happiness? The usual answer is that religious belief relieves the anxieties of ordinary life and that religious belonging provides emotional support. But a growing body of literature suggests that happiness is more complicated than that. Happiness is not only a feeling. It is a practice that we engage in actively, that we attempt to manage, and that is in many ways managed for us -- by social norms and institutions. In Nurturing Happiness, Robert Wuthnow develops the concept of emotional practice and locates it in the sociological literature on practice theory. He describes how American faith leaders at pivotal moments in their history attempted to nurture -- and control -- their adherents' thoughts about happiness and their experiences of it. He shows how religious authorities used their discursive power to draw moral distinctions among kinds of happiness and their institutional power to manage where it took place and how it was expressed. And he demonstrates that religious authorities' efforts to nurture happiness, while not always effective, played a crucial role in faith communities' adaptation to changing social conditions. This book describes these adaptations in colonial-era arguments about heavenly joy and virtuous living, nineteenth-century revival meetings and festive events, Progressive-era advocacy for useful service, recent efforts to link play with transcendence and to associate joyful spirituality with personal discipline, and current responses to the fallout from illicit pursuits of happiness. Nurturing Happiness is required reading for anyone interested in understanding how religious faith relates to happiness.
Levels of Heaven and Hell
Are Heaven and Hell real places or states of consciousness? Or both? Are angels and demons real? Are they extraterrestrials we have mistaken as spiritual Beings? Or is it the other way around and they are demons posing as extraterrestrials? Is the Earth Hollow and are there subterranean civilizations? Is Paradise within or outside of our Universe? Was there one original language shared by all humanity? Why are Maya and Aztec languages nearly identical to ancient German? And why has this fact been covered up? What is the Direct Experience of God? These questions and many more are explored within this epic, groundbreaking and fascinating book by consciousness researcher Frederick Dodson.
Dialogue with the Qur'an
Within the two essays collected in this book the author challenges the most traditional approaches to the Qur'anic studies and builds a dialogic dimension between the Book and the Reader. The first essay (2014) recalls the hermeneutic approach of the Egyptian philosopher N.H. Abu Zayd and expands his arguments by means of a critical comparison with Gadamer and Ricoeur. The second essay (2016) is instead focused on the figure of Abraham within the Qur'an and advances an alternative theory on the relation existing between the Islamic and the Jewish-Christian tradition.
