Heavy Metal Music, Texts, and Nationhood
This book addresses how whiteness is represented in heavy metal scenes and practices, both as a site of academic inquiry and force of cultural significance. The author argues that whiteness, and more specifically white masculinity, has been given normative value which obscures the contributions of women and people of colour, and affirms the exclusory understandings of 'belonging' which have featured in the metal scenes of Norway, South Africa, and Australia. Utilizing critical discourse analysis and critical textual analysis of musical texts, promotional material, and participant-based observation ethnographies, it explores how the texts, discourses, and practices produced and articulated by metal scene members and scholars alike have presented heavy metal as a white, masculine pastime, yet also considers the vital work done by scene members to confront expressions of exclusory misogyny and racism when they emerge in metal scenes. The contents of this book will never provide a full history of the Club but hopefully will give a flavour of the enterprise, variety and old fashioned good times had by all participating over the generations. All of us who enjoyed our times in the Hockey Club have a number of dedicated individuals to thank for these memories. Whether these be on the field of play, in the bar post-match, attending committees or just getting stuck into general backroom administration they will not be forgotten. One or two of the larger than life characters are noted in the text. Officials are listed in the Appendices. As the potted history of the Club produced for the 50th Anniversary commented 'A true souvenir should recall the spirit of the Club', thus there is no catalogue of names in the book apart from a few appropriate listings in its appendices. This is probably a book to pick up and dip into occasionally, rather than read from cover to cover all at once. Hopefully the reader will always find something of interest to jog their memory of many happy past times. Finally, no doubt we will all agree with the sentiment expressed by Ray Gibney, Club Captain 1967-72, "The camaraderie I witnessed at the Club throughout my membership was second to none, and I never ceased to admire those at all playing levels who were willing volunteers to support the Club administratively."

The Eye Dominance Porta Test in Comparison with the Circular Manually Influenced Test
Scientific Study from the year 2021 in the subject Sport - Sport Medicine, Therapy, Nutrition, University of Innsbruck (Central University of Nicaragua), course: Interuniversity College for Health and Development Graz-Innsbruck Austria, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this study is to better understand the manually influenced eye dominance. The human visual system seems to offer various control mechanisms in order to provide the motor system with all necessary information for optimizing performance. Previous studies have shown that input through the visual system seems to dominate other sensory systems and that it is the sensory source, upon which we rely the most. A circular manual motor Task with the thumb and the index finger can influence the eye dominance. This assumption was tested on thirty-one right-handed healthy tennis players. The subjects performed two different hand-eye dominance screening tests, the conventional Porta Test and the new Circular Test that were compared separately one-handed, with the right hand as well as additionally combined with the left hand. The right-handed classifications were defined as: crossed (right-hand/left-eye) and consistent (right-hand/right-eye). The left-handed classifications were defined as: crossed-switch (eye dominance switches with the test hand); consistent (same dominance in eyes and hands).
