The Good the Spam and the Ugly
Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2005 18:38:09 +0000 (GMT) Subject: CONFIDENTIAL. . . To: honbarrsedd4za@yahoo.co.in PROPOSAL FOR URGENT ASSISTANCE Dear Sir: I must solicit your confidence in this transaction. I am a high placed official with the Department of Finance Affairs in Lagos, Nigeria. I and two other colleagues are in need of a silent foreign partner whose bank account we can use to transfer the sum of $18,000,000. This are monies left by a barrister who died tragically in a plane crash last year. . . Sound familiar? Congratulations. You have been selected to become a mugu, an expression African con artists use to describe the targets of their e-mail scams. But they drew a bead on the wrong guy when they started spamming Steve H. Graham. Like many Internet users, Graham eventually got tired of receiving mugu mail and decided to fire back at his wannabe swindlers. Armed with a scathing sense of humor, Graham quickly turned the tables on his tormenters--with side-splittingly hilarious results. Whether he's referring to his fictional lawyer Biff Wellington, complaining about the injury he received while milking a lactating sloth, or offering the Preparation H helpline as his phone number, Graham--using aliases such as Wile E. Coyote, Barney Rubble, and Herman Munster--offers proof that spamming the spammers is the best revenge. Steve H. Graham is a retired attorney. Since childhood, he has been fighting for truth, justice, and free movie passes. For each copy sold of this book, he will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to himself. He is also the author of the cookbook Eat What You Want and Die Like a Man. He lives in Miami.

An Edinburgh Eleven Pencil Portraits From College Life
Napoleon and Uncle Elby
Clifford McBride (1901-1951) began his professional career as a newspaper artist in 1923, and started his first feature cartoon in 1927. He hit his stride when he first introduced a character based on his uncle and soon after added a canine pal. This oddly assorted pair of boon companions, rotund Uncle Elby and his droopy, well-meaning dog, Napoleon, romped through life, making the most ludicrous errors when they were most in earnest. Situational humor flows naturally from Napoleon's awkward size, his friendly exuberance, and his expressive demeanor. By the 1940s, the Napoleon and Uncle Elby comic strip was carried by newspapers all over the United States and even in other countries. After McBride's death from heart trouble in 1951, his second wife, Margot Fischer McBride continued writing the strip, hiring several illustrators to draw it, including McBride's original assistant and former Disney artist Roger Armstrong. The strip continued to be published until 1960.This collection of Napoleon and Uncle Elby was first published in 1945.

The Encyclopedia of Misunderstood Imaginary Monsters
We, the Misunderstood, believe it's finally time to step out of the shadows and be recognized for who we are. We're imaginary monsters, and for good or for bad, there is always an army of us helping you to navigate your day.Because people confuse what we do with natural occurrences, we rarely get credit for our hard work. What everyone believes to be the noises they hear in the dead of night they've always attributed to the house settling or air in the radiator is actually our many unseen hands working overtime. Even though we are grossly overworked and underpaid, we still hide your keys, steal your socks, and sleep under your child's bed as a public service.Imaginary monsters are a proud bunch, and we're tired of being anonymous. We all have names, designated areas, and specialized jobs, many requiring at least a four-yeardegree. We only hide because we're more afraid of you than you are of us. And if you looked like us, you'd hide in dark places, too.Sometimes, we may be mischievous, but we've never harmed a soul. All we ask is that you have the courtesy of addressing us by name and recognize us for our role in your daily lives. And please keep the screaming to a minimum. Afterall, we get scared, too.People and imaginary monsters need to coexist peacefully. And you never know; someday, you might even grow to like us.
