Polymer composites have frequently played a successful role in replacing metallic and ceramic materials. In many applications, polymeric materials have offered an alternative to glass (PMMA, PC) and aluminum in aeronautics, which have been replaced by polymer-matrix composites. Because of their lightness and ease of processing, polymers have long been used as electrical insulators, and the first work on extrinsically conductive polymers or polymers filled with electrically conductive particles was carried out in the 1950s (Hitory of polymeric composites). In composites with insulating matrices loaded with conductive particles, the transport of electric current is frequently confined to metallic or graphite particles. The conductive phase is often granular (carbon black, silver platelets, etc.) or fibrous (carbon fibers, aluminum fibers, etc.). Structural composites are structures using high-performance composite materials, often replacing metal structures.

Dynamics of Open Quantum Systems

All real-world quantum systems interact with their surrounding environment to some extent. No matter how weak the coupling that prevents the system from being isolated, the evolution of an open quantum system is eventually plagued by non-unitary features, such as decoherence and dissipation. Decoherence is a quantum effect where the system loses its ability to exhibit coherent behavior. Nowadays, decoherence stands as a serious obstacle in quantum information processing. As the manipulation of quantum coherence in experiments has progressed, the need to better understand, control, and utilize dissipative non-equilibrium dynamics of quantum systems has grown in importance. This has ranged from fundamental questions associated with the quantum-to-classical transition and quantum thermodynamics innovation in quantum optics and cavity/circuit quantum electrodynamics. Current studies of many-body dynamics, ultracold atoms in optical lattices, trapped ions, superconducting systems, nanoelectro-mechanical systems, and quantum fields under the influence of external conditions offer new challenges to address questions regarding quantum systems far from equilibrium. On the theoretical side, quantum trajectory-based methods could be the key to both quantum nanodevice design and exploration of new regimes of quantum mechanics and quantum measurement, as well as applications to various quantum technologies.

Antimony and its anodic oxide film

The air-formed and anodic films on antimony surfaces are vulnerable to dissolution in the acid medium, with the anodic film dissolving at a higher rate than the air-formed film. This may be due to the fact that the anodic film that formed on the antimony surface has more defective characteristics than the air-generated film. The results of polarization revealed that the rate of antimony corrosion increased as the temperature increased. SEM micrographs revealed that anodic polarization of the metal in 4.97 M H2SO4 repaired scratches and defects on the mechanically polished antimony surface. Furthermore, the AFM picture of the anodic-produced antimony film revealed that it was homogeneous and free of pores.

Phytochemical Analysis of Sugarcane Flower (Saccharum Edule)

Saccharum Edule commonly known as sugarcane flower is a type of vegetable. Every vegetable, including Saccharum Edule, has a benefit of its own. However, because no phytochemical research has been done on this sample that would support the beneficial findings, this vegetable is frequently underestimated by both researchers and public. Saccharum Edule health benefits are attributed in part to its unique phytochemical composition. This study was designed to find the phytochemical content inside of Saccharum Edule to analyze the bioactive compound and active compound content. Using methanol, Saccharum Edule was macerated to extract the active compounds inside the sample. Using Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and active compounds using seven types of antioxidant tests, which are quantitative and qualitative. There were eight types of bioactive compounds present in the sample, namely glycerol, alcohol, phenol, acetic acid, fatty acid, ester acid, and saturated fatty alcohol. For active compounds, Saccharum Edule has the highest total phenolic compound (572.46 mg/ml) tested and the second highest are total flavonoid content (21.17 quercetin/g) gained from the sample.

Effect of Imin Derivatives on DNA Conductivity and 3clpro Receptor

This study details the synthesis and structural analysis of new piperazine ester (PB羹Es) and piperazinhydrazon (PB羹Hy) derivatives, with an emphasis on their interactions with the 8IGY protein receptor. Comprehensive computational approaches, including Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulations, were employed to examine the binding affinity, stability, and structural properties of these compounds. Results from docking and dynamics simulations showed that while the co-ligand exhibited the strongest binding affinity to the 8IGY receptor, both PB羹Hy and PB羹Es maintained stable positions via electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. Additionally, the study explored the effects of PB羹Es and PB羹Hy on the electrical conductivity of B-DNA, particularly in relation to its sequence 'CGGATCGATTCGAGG, ' offering valuable insights into potential applications in biosensors and molecular electronics. This analysis contributes to understanding how ligand modifications impact DNA conductivity, paving the way for innovative uses in nanotechnology and bioelectronics.

Biochemical Characterization of Cotton Hybrids and their Parents

Master's Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Chemistry - Bio-chemistry, course: biochem-599 - Agriculture, language: English, abstract: The present experiment on "Biochemical characterization of cotton hybrids and their parents" was conducted at Main Cotton Research Station, Athwa farm, Navsari Agricultural University, Surat (Gujarat) during kharif season 2021-2022. In the experiment, twenty-eight genotypes were chosen for screening. After 45 days of sowing, leaf samples were taken. Biochemical analysis such as reducing sugar, total soluble sugar, protein, proline, tannin, gossypol, total phenol and flavanol were done from leaf samples at 45 days. Iodine value and seed oil content analyzed from seed and all parameters were performed in the laboratory. Biochemical parameters such as total soluble sugar, tannin, gossypol, flavanol, iodine value and seed oil content were found higher in hybrid varieties as compared to parents genotypes. Reducing sugar and total soluble sugar contents ranged between 7.28 to 18.21 mg/g and 75.46 to 121.90 mg/g, respectively. The total protein content varied between 1.05 and 2.24 mg/g, while in proline, it was varied from 0.15 to 1.88 mg/g. Tannin content found between 70.74 to 90.00 mg/g. The amount of gossypol in the samples ranged from 0.71 to 0.97 percent. The total phenol concentration ranged from 3.13 to 5.33 mg/g. While in flavanol, it was varied from10.31 to 15.98 mg/g. The iodine value ranged from 101.00 to 114.00. The percentage of seed oil found between 16.12 to 17.60 percent. Biochemical parameters like reducing sugar (mg/g), protein (mg/g), proline (mg/g) and phenol (mg/g) content higher in parent genotypes as compared to hybrids. It is concluded that biochemical contents found higher in hybrids as compared to parents, which play vital role in improving biochemical characters and improvement of cotton breeding programme.

High-temperature structural materials are characterized by their high melting point, high-strength and high-temperature creep resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, and excellent corrosion resistance. Such materials are widely used in metallurgy, chemical applications, aerospace, nuclear reactors, and other situations where extreme environments are encountered. During high-temperature service, high-temperature structural materials are exposed to extremely harsh high-temperature environments, bear mechanical and thermal loads, and are exposed to high-temperature oxidation, erosion, corrosion, etc. Therefore, high stress can be easily concentrated at a defect site, especially near the phase interface. Thermal expansion stress will drive the nucleation and propagation of cracks. At the same time, friction, oxidation, and corrosion will also aggravate crack propagation and material failure, which will pose a catastrophic threat to high-temperature components. Therefore, the characterization, understanding, strengthening, and corrosion protection of high-temperature structural materials are very important. This Special Issue focuses on second phase enhancement, surface coating technology, high-temperature corrosion, wear, erosion, and protection with respect to high-temperature structural materials.

Impact of Divalent Impurities on Lithium Sulfate Monohydrate Crystal

Pure, Magnesium sulphate, Zinc sulphate, Nickel sulphate, Copper sulphate and Manganese sulphate of different concentrations (0.5% and 2.5%) doped Lithium sulphate monohydrate(LSMH) single crystals have been grown by slow evaporation solution growth method. The monoclinic structure of the grown crystals is confirmed by powder X - ray diffraction analysis. The presences of functional groups are identified through FTIR. Tauc plot of the grown crystals were obtained from UV - Vis spectral analysis. The optical parameters such as band gap energy, extinction coefficient, refractive index and optical conductivity of the grown crystals have been calculated as a function of photon energy. The mechanical parameters such as Meyer index, fracture toughness, Brittle index, yield strength and stiffness constant have been calculated. The NLO activity of the grown crystals are studied using Kurtz and Perry technique and it shows that the grown crystals have second harmonic generation efficiency. Laser damage threshold (LDT) values of the grown crystals are determined. Dielectric, conductivity and electrical modulus properties of grown crystal have been analysed.

A study on biologically potential heterocycles

Azoles and benzazoles represent an indispensable class of heteroaromatic compounds in the field of organic and medicinal chemistry. In fact, azoles derivatives are potential chemical entities as they are part of many biologically active pharmaceuticals vital for increasing the quality of life. It was well known that the combination of two or more different types of heterocycles in one molecule could yield a novel entity with enhanced biopotency to combat various diseases and pathophysiological conditions. Amide and sulfonamide containing heteroaromatics have attracted substantial attention due to their broad spectrum of biological and therapeutic applications. The exploration of new molecules that can accommodate potency to multiple biological targets remains an intriguing scientific endeavor. Motivated by the biopotency of these structurally diversed heteroaromatics, simple substrates with different functionalities were explored for the synthesis of variety of heterocycles-azolylbenzazoles and pyrrolylazoles linked by sulfonamido acetamide moiety adopting simple, facile and elegant synthetic methodologies.

The present work can be divided into three parts: - The first part is devoted to the synthesis of a series of chiral N-phenylsulfonyl-α-amino acids from naturally occurring α-amino acids.- The second part describes the synthesis of chiral N-phenylsulfonyl-α-aminoesters by esterification of the N-phenylsulfonyl amino acids obtained previously.- The third part deals with the synthesis of chiral N-phenylsulfonyl-α-aminohydrazides by condensation of the α-aminoesters obtained with hydrazine.

Phosphate-containing wastes for fine ceramics production

The book aims to study the recycling of fish bone ash as a starting material for manufacturing stoneware tiles and bone China bodies. Additionally, the effects of adding fish bone on the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of the final products were investigated. The study showed that it is feasible to partially replace potash feldspar with fish bone ash in recipes for stoneware tiles. Adding more than 10 mass-% fish bone ash accelerated the formation of the anorthite phase and hindered the mullite formation in sintered tiles. From an industrial point of view according to the ISO 13006 international standard, the tested stoneware tiles belong to group BIa. The addition of fishbone ash has a positive effect on the bodies' whiteness and translucency.

Some studies investigate the use of air classifiers to separate battery foils and sensors for sorting components by material type. Other studies look into how different battery types affect these mechanical steps and the impact of thermal pretreatment on materials like NMC 622 black mass. Thermal pretreatment is highlighted as a critical step for removing organic compounds and breaking down materials, enabling more efficient recycling. Several studies focus on this process, including sulfuric roasting for LCO-rich black mass and safe lithium recovery from LiS cells. After pretreatment, hydrometallurgical processes are typically applied to further recover valuable materials. Researchers aim to optimize these steps, enhancing lithium leaching efficiency and reducing process-disrupting viscosity. Organic acids like gluconic and acetic acids are considered environmentally friendly alternatives for extracting elements such as cobalt and nickel. This Special Issue also includes broader reviews addressing topics like the role of LIBs in sustainable energy and minimizing losses in recycling steps. Together, these studies provide a comprehensive overview of advancements and future directions for efficient, sustainable battery recycling.

Categorization of Metalloboranes Made Simple

A burning desire to understand the nature and constitution of chemical clusters developed around 2005. Accordingly, clusters such as metal carbonyls, boranes, hydrocarbons, zintl ions, golden clusters and others were analyzed and categorized. Arising from these studies, it was discovered that the main group elements follow the series S=4n+q where n= the number of skeletal elements in a cluster formula and q = numerical value that specifies the type of cluster series. On the other hand, the transition metal clusters were found to follow the series S=14n+q. Furthermore, the skeletal bonds that bind the skeletal elements together were found to be calculated from the equation K=2n-q/2. Deeper analysis of the clusters, led to the discovery of a very important parameter that the cluster valence electrons have the double capping cluster valence electron configuration K*=DzCy where Dz follows the 14n series and Cy follows the 12n series and z and y represent the number of respective skeletal elements which together add up to n. That is, z+y=n. Out of these relationships, two more important cluster valence equations were derived.

The Novel Periodic Table of Chemical Clusters

The cluster theory of chemical clusters has made it possible to analyze and categorize a wide range of chemical clusters. These clusters can be expressed in a cluster configuration form represented by K*=DzCy. On a close observation the Dz which follows the 14n series can be regarded as similar to a group number of chemical elements in a conventional periodic table. Likewise, the symbol Cy which follows the 12n series can be regarded as similar to the period of chemical elements on the periodic table. Selected cluster groups ranging from D0 to D20 and their corresponding periods have been worked out, they can be used to identify chemical clusters ranging from D0 to D20 and their tables have been presented towards the end of the book. In addition, more than a hundred examples have been analyzed and categorized, and each one of them can be located at the appropriate position in the constructed tables. This means that an expanded periodic table which accommodates all known clusters ranging from chemical elements, compounds and chemical complexes can be constructed. In this regard according to cluster theory, even a chemical element on its own is regarded as a chemical cluster.

The skeletal number of Boron was found to be k=2.5 and its valency which is given by V=2k was found to be equal to 5, and this makes it possible to construct isomeric shapes of Boranes. Boranes like all other clusters obey the natural law of cluster number K being a whole number, this book provides a selected range of Boranes and Heteroboranes analyzed and categorized, and their corresponding isomeric structures have been constructed where possible. The skeletal valency is extremely important in the construction of isomeric structures, in this regard each nodal point where Boron is found, there will be five linkages or connections.
