Nonclassical Effects and Dynamics of Quantum Observables
This book explores interesting possibilities of extracting information about quantum states from data readily obtained from experiments, such as tomograms and expectation values of appropriate observables. The procedures suggested for identifying nonclassical effects such as wave packet revivals, squeezing and entanglement solely from tomograms circumvent detailed state reconstruction. Several bipartite entanglement indicators are defined based on tomograms, and their efficacy assessed in models of atom-field interactions and qubit systems. Tools of classical ergodic theory such as time series and network analysis are applied to quantum observables treated as dynamical variables. This brings out novel aspects involving different time scales. The book is aimed at researchers in the areas of quantum optics and quantum dynamics.

Getting Started in Quantum Optics
This book, based on classroom-tested lecture notes, provides a self-contained one semester undergraduate course on quantum optics, accessible to students (and other readers) who have completed an introductory quantum mechanics course and are familiar with Dirac notation and the concept of entanglement. The book covers canonical quantization, the harmonic oscillator, vacuum fluctuations, Fock states, the single photon state, quantum optical treatment of the beam splitter and the interferometer, multimode quantized light, and coherent and incoherent states. Metrology is a particular area of emphasis, with the book culminating in a treatment of squeezed light and its use in the laser interferometer gravitational-wave observatory (LIGO). The Heisenberg limit is described, along with NOON states and their application in super-sensitivity, super-resolution and quantum lithography. Applications of entanglement and coincidence measurements are described including ghost imaging, quantum illumination, absolute photodetector calibration, and interaction-free measurement. With quantum optics playing a central role in the so-called "second quantum revolution," this book, equipped with plenty of exercises and worked examples, will leave students well prepared to enter graduate study or industry.

Smart Materials Design for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications
With the rapid developments in microchips, mobile communication and satellite communication, electromagnetic interference (EMI) or Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) has received significant attention to ensure high performance of electronic items and to avoid any adverse effect on human health. EMI is one of the main factors that weaken electronic system performance and is considered as a modern form of environmental pollution. Many efforts have been made to reduce EMI, including industrial regulations and R&D funding.The expansion of the IT industry has promoted the development of microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) and EMI shielding materials to improve the resistance of smart devices to EMI. This book presents a comprehensive review of the recent developments in EMI shielding and the design of microwave absorbing materials. Chapters cover the basic mechanism of shielding and radiation absorption, measurement procedures, factors affecting the shielding and different materials for shielding and absorption (e.g. MWCNT, conjugated polymers, graphene, MXene based hybrid materials, Carbon foam, graphene based thermoplastic polyurethane nanocomposites, carbon-carbon composites, nano ferrite composites and conducting Ferro fluids). An analysis of EMI shielding using fillers composed of different materials is also presented. In addition, key issues and current challenges to achieve better shielding and absorption performance for various materials are explained, giving the readers a broader perspective of the subject.
