Stability of two Dimensional Immiscible Flow to Viscous Fingering

L,Reyna  著
2025/07/11 出版

"Stability of Two Dimensional Immiscible Flow to Viscous Fingering" explores the complex dynamics of fluid displacement in porous media. This study delves into the conditions under which viscous fingering-a phenomenon where a less viscous fluid displaces a more viscous one, leading to instability-occurs. The authors, Reyna, Lindquist, and King, employ rigorous mathematical analysis to examine the stability of the displacement process in two-dimensional systems. This work is essential for researchers and engineers in fields such as petroleum engineering, hydrology, and chemical engineering, providing insights into enhanced oil recovery techniques, groundwater contamination, and other applications where fluid flow in porous media is critical. The research offers a foundational understanding of the factors influencing the stability of immiscible displacement, contributing to more efficient and predictable fluid management strategies. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. The Archive and the Aural City

2025/07/11 出版

In The Archive and the Aural City, Alejandro L. Madrid examines the possibilities for retrieving from the archive sounds that were not meant to be heard. Drawing on ?ngel Rama's notion of the Lettered City, Madrid proposes a notion of the Aural City-a Latin American urban intellectual elite for whom sound and listening are central to the creation, re-creation, and circulation of new types of knowledge. While many of these elites carry forward a nationalistic agenda, Madrid contends that the Aural City's archives and the ways they are listened to and conceived through sound and music can also help dismantle dominant frameworks of national or colonial culture and build more inclusive spaces for intellectual exchange and political mobilization. From national archives in Latin America and colonial institutions abroad to sound exhibits, instruments, and internet-based archival projects, Madrid demonstrates how the development of urban spaces is understood through sound. In this way, he expands understandings of the archive's social and sonic power.

Going Nuclear

Tim,Gregory  著
Pegasus 出版
2025/07/09 出版

A bold, provocative, and knowledgeable case for the importance of nuclear science and how nuclear power is essential to reaching net zero. What if net zero is not an environmental challenge, but an energy challenge? In this visionary book, Dr. Tim Gregory challenges prevailing narratives around climate change, arguing that the goal of net zero is not simply to replace fossil fuels with renewables, but to power civilization using sources of energy that do not emit carbon dioxide. He unequivocally shows that only one emissions-free energy source can rise to that challenge: nuclear power. Going Nuclear calls for decarbonization to be the twenty-first century's Apollo program, illuminating the far-reaching potential of the atom beyond clean energy to advanced medicine, forensics, atomic gardening, and interplanetary exploration. By interweaving scientific optimism, myth-busting data, and ambitious policy, Gregory offers an alternative nuclear future that can meet the shared goal of environmental stewardship and continued human progress.

Rare Earth (Eu3+, Pr3+)doped LaOF nanopowder for display applications

C,Suresh  著
2025/07/08 出版

Presently, green route synthesis compared with conservative chemical and physical synthesis could be a preferable synthesis route due to environmentally friendly conditions, due to their less speed of metal reduction, it does not require further stabilizing agents, because extracts themselves act as stabilizing and capping agents and the nanopowders, prepared by biological methods. Rare earth (RE) doped lanthanum oxyfluorides (LaOF) have been widely used in high performance luminescent devices, magnets, catalysts and other functional materials based on the electronic, optical and chemical characteristics. Among the rare earth compounds, more attention has been paid to Eu3+, Pr3+ ions because of its potential practical applications in electro luminescent displays, plasma display panels, field emission mercury-free lamps etc. Photometric results clearly showed Li co-doped samples was highly useful for display device applications. Judd-Ofeltintensity parameters (Ω2 and Ω4 )was done to estimate the radiative parameters. The prepared nanopowders are same size and highly crystalline nature, due to its, recognition of individuals in forensic field easily by using fingerprint.

Studies on Shell Confined Atoms

2025/07/08 出版

This book presents a comprehensive exploration of the quantum mechanical behavior of atoms influenced by spatial confinement and screened Coulomb potentials-two pivotal factors in modern quantum theory and nanoscience. Spatial confinement introduces size-dependent quantum effects that fundamentally alter atomic properties such as ionization energies and polarizability, offering deep insights into systems at the nanoscale and under extreme pressures. In parallel, screened Coulomb interactions-modeled through potentials like the Hulth矇n, Yukawa, and exponential cosine screened Coulomb forms-capture essential short- and medium-range effects, highly relevant to plasmas, semiconductors, and condensed matter physics.Through analytical approximations and computational techniques, this work investigates the energy spectra and wavefunctions of hydrogen-like systems under both confinement and screening. Variational methods are employed to probe confined eigenstates, while numerical models are used to analyze the impact of potential screening on atomic behavior.Combining theoretical rigor with practical relevance, this book offers valuable perspectives for researchers in quantum mechanics.

Albert Einstein's theories on light, gravity and relativity

Erik,Kolek  著
2025/07/06 出版

From the foreword by Dr. rer. pol. Erik Kolek The light quantum hypothesis leads to new assumptions about the radiation of black bodies. The principle of relativity has a connection with the constancy of the speed of light. Energy is not directly dependent on mass. Energy-rich mass points have inertia and gravity. The deflection of the light rays is related to their speed c and the gravitational constant k as well as the mass M of the body past which the light passes. The local time l depends on the mass M and the speed of light c in a space-time domain.

Non-Self-Adjoint Schr繹dinger Operator with a Periodic Potential

Oktay,Veliev  著
Springer 出版
2025/07/04 出版

This book offers a comprehensive exploration of spectral theory for non-self-adjoint differential operators with complex-valued periodic coefficients, addressing one of the most challenging problems in mathematical physics and quantum mechanics: constructing spectral expansions in the absence of a general spectral theorem. It examines scalar and vector Schr繹dinger operators, including those with PT-symmetric periodic optical potentials, and extends these methodologies to higher-order operators with periodic matrix coefficients. The second edition significantly expands upon the first by introducing two new chapters that provide a complete description of the spectral theory of non-self-adjoint differential operators with periodic coefficients. The first of these new chapters focuses on the vector case, offering a detailed analysis of the spectral theory of non-self-adjoint Schr繹dinger operators with periodic matrix potentials. It thoroughly examines eigenvalues, eigenfunctions, and spectral expansions for systems of one-dimensional Schr繹dinger operators. The second chapter develops a comprehensive spectral theory for all ordinary differential operators, including higher-order and vector cases, with periodic coefficients. It also includes a complete classification of the spectrum for PT-symmetric periodic differential operators, making this edition the most comprehensive treatment of these topics to date. The book begins with foundational topics, including spectral theory for Schr繹dinger operators with complex-valued periodic potentials, and systematically advances to specialized cases such as the Mathieu-Schr繹dinger operator and PT-symmetric periodic systems. By progressively increasing the complexity, it provides a unified and accessible framework for students and researchers. The approaches developed here open new horizons for spectral analysis, particularly in the context of optics, quantum mechanics, and mathematical physics.

Fluid Mechanics at Interfaces 3

Wiley-Iste 出版
2025/07/03 出版

Interfaces are present in most fluid mechanics problems. They not only denote phase separations and boundary conditions, but also thin flames and discontinuity waves. Fluid Mechanics at Interfaces 3 firstly positions models as relative to applications (i.e. pollution, drops for propulsion, wind power, etc.), then emphasizes the importance of social consequences. Chapter 1 examines the questions raised by simulation of a pollutant's concentration degradation in permanent 2D flow using the finite element method. Chapter 2 considers an approximate analytical solution for mixed injection regimes, which acts on drop vaporization frequency response. Chapter 3 examines the case of an incompressible external flow of uniform speed at infinity, leading the liquid in the drop by friction. Chapter 4 gives a summary of combustion-based weapons and their effects. Chapter 5 then looks at the shifting interface in spacetime. Chapter 6 limits itself to two key concepts: the first is that of capillary interfaces where surface tension is present even at equilibrium, the second is that of thin flames which only exist outside of equilibrium, but which can be considered as generalized interfaces. Chapter 7 challenges the idea of constituents of matter, leading to radically transforming chemistry. Chapter 8 is concerned by the modeling of partial wetting by macroscopic approach in discrete mechanics. Chapter 9 states a numerical method of finished differences, making it possible to calculate the variables describing an average flow. Chapter 10 considers circulation in the vessels of the human body. Chapter 11 contributes by generalizing the classical series solution for initial boundary value problems of the 1D reaction-diffusion equations on any finite interval of the real line.
