Bargaining Theory
The Nash bargaining problem provides a framework for analyzing problems where parties have imperfectly aligned interests. This Element reviews the parts of bargaining theory most important in philosophical applications, and to social contract theory in particular. It discusses rational choice analyses of bargaining problems that focus on axiomatic analysis, according to which a solution of a given bargaining problem satisfies certain formal criteria, and strategic bargaining, according to which a solution results from the moves of ideally rational and knowledgeable claimants. Reality Without Realism
This book presents quantum theory as a theory based on new relationships among matter, thought, and experimental technology, as against those previously found in physics, relationships that also redefine those between mathematics and physics in quantum theory. The argument of the book is based on its title concept, reality without realism (RWR), and in the corresponding view, the RWR view, of quantum theory. The book considers, from this perspective, the thinking of Bohr, Heisenberg, Schr繹dinger, and Dirac, with the aim of bringing together the philosophy and history of quantum theory. With quantum theory, the book argues, the architecture of thought in theoretical physics was radically changed by the irreducible role of experimental technology in the constitution of physical phenomena, accordingly, no longer defined independently by matter alone, as they were in classical physics or relativity. Or so it appeared. For, quantum theory, the book further argues, made us realize that experimental technology, beginning with that of our bodies, irreducibly shapes all physical phenomena, and thus makes us rethink the relationships among matter, thought, and technology in all of physics.

Frameworks for Scientific and Technological Research Oriented by Transdisciplinary Co-Production
This book presents the Framework Knowledge Acquisition Design, indicated for the development of scientific and technological research that demand the dialogue of academic and non-academic researchers for the configuration of the unit of knowledge, established in a transdisciplinary methodology of co-production in a diachronic study of the main theoretical frameworks, methodological and contextual, and with the presentation of selected frameworks of transdisciplinary co-production. The work can be classified both as a reference work in Transdisciplinary Research Methodology and as a textbook to guide the Transdisciplinary Coproduction in the context of innovation and organizational and social development. The constituent elements of the work that make it a reference work in Research Methodology are the theoretical foundations on the unity of knowledge, on the issue of transdisciplinary and on co-production, in a trajectory that begins with the first thinkers of the renaissance (and its basis in the philosophy of classical antiquity) addressing contemporaneity, supported by the main thinkers of transdisciplinary and integrative research. The constituent elements of the work that make it a textbook is the presentation of the main conceptual frameworks on the partnership between academic and non-academic actors (public and private) for the co-production of scientific knowledge, which will be the basis for the presentation of a new method that is sufficiently robust to accommodate from scientific initiation to complex, deep and substantial doctoral studies. Genuine transdisciplinary research aims to coordinate different bodies of knowledge, after identifying gaps in the science, technology and society tripod filling these gaps with appropriate scientific methodology and theoretical references. It is the recognition that specialized knowledge bases are dispersed in the very heterogeneity of reality and that, therefore, only an integrative approach will be able to capture essential features of the context in which the problem is inserted. It is to bring to the scientific framework relevant social problems that need a solution and lead to the relevant problems that need a solution, wherever they are, science. In this context, the involvement of non-academic actors in the disciplinary, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary continuum advances towards transdisciplinary research, intensifying the cooperation and integration of various fields of knowledge in solving the research problem. Transdisciplinary, in a broad sense, can be described like a movement as the shift from fragmentation to relationality, from unity to the integrative process, from situated homogeneity to heterogeneity, from linearity to non-linearity, from simplicity to complexity, from universality to practices, from isolation to collaboration and cooperation. The appreciation and increase of these forms of interaction in search of the unity of knowledge beckon a new form of articulation between society and academia, especially for conducting scientific research, fostering new partnerships between university and society. This book brings the fundamentals of the changes that have become necessary to transcend and integrate disciplinary paradigms and the theoretical and methodological references for the realization of scientific researches that consider this scenario, including the presentation of a robust new conceptual framework for academic research in the field the integration engineering and knowledge governance.

Earth is covered 70 percent by water. The total amount of water in the world is approximately 1.4 billion km3, of which 97.5 percent is saltwater, occupying 1,351,000,000 km3. Freshwater lakes and rivers, ice and snow, and underground aquifers hold 2.5 percent of this water: 35 million km3 of freshwater on earth. Nearly 70 percent, or 24.34 million km3, of freshwater is in the form of glacial ice or snow. Groundwater and soil moisture account for 10.55 million km3 (30.1 percent). Only 0.3 percent is in freshwater lakes, rivers, and swamps. Of this surface freshwater, 87 percent is found in lakes. Freshwater lakes hold about 0.1 million km3. Rivers, the most visible form of freshwater, account for 0.002 million km3.

Autobiography: The author was born and raised in the state of New York. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he was directed to report for duty in the Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. There he joined the Beavercreek Junior Chamber of Commerce and was asked to pose in a canoe for publicity pictures that the local newspaper would use to announce an upcoming canoe race on the Little Miami River near Dayton.Then, for the first time in a canoe, he paddled down the river for 12 miles and tipped over three times. This began his love of canoeing, which would last a lifetime. He participated in a total of 19 canoe trips in the wilderness of northern Canada. The trips ranged from 11 to 36 days and totaled about 4,500 miles. Most of the trips ended at either the Arctic Ocean or Hudson Bay.Book synopsis: This book is about a canoeing adventure in the far north wilderness of Canada and tells how the adventure was planned and executed. Who Killed Miracle?
In June 1977, a baby orca was spotted swimming erratically in Menzies Bay near Campbell River, British Columbia. It was sick and dying. Bill Davis, a sport fisherman, befriended the baby whale and tried to nurse it back to health. After a couple of days, Davis realized it needed intensive medical care. Through a series of phone calls, staff from a nearby oceanarium owned by Bob Wright were enlisted to conduct an emergency rescue operation. The baby orca, later named Miracle, survived several brushes with death and became a star performer at Sealand of the Pacific in Victoria, British Columbia. Miracle subsequently became the object of a political fight. Environmental activists argued that killer whales were dying prematurely in oceanariums around the world and called for Miracle's return to the wild. Sealand argued that Miracle had become too reliant on humans and would not survive in the wild on her own. The battle lines were drawn. Then, after just five years at Sealand, Miracle died under mysterious circumstances. News outlets reported sightings of divers near Miracle's pool. But the exact cause of Miracle's death remained a mystery. The trail went cold. Yet, the philosophical implications of the ethics of care are robust and extend beyond ethics as such, with care theorists positing ontological, epistemological, and political significance to its approach. Despite these implications, and the growing acceptance of care ethics in a variety of academic literatures, it remains a somewhat marginalized philosophical framework. The original contributions to this volume juxtapose care theory with established philosophers and philosophical thought. The goal is to catalyze further intellectual interest and attention in how care enriches philosophy across a variety of subjects.In attending to both the intersections and interstices between care ethics and established philosophical theories and approaches, the contributions in this Special Issue provide a unique intellectual space for dialogue between significant philosophical figures and care ethics, with the aim of enriching both philosophical traditions. Mathematics and Its Logics
In these essays Geoffrey Hellman presents a strong case for a healthy pluralism in mathematics and its logics, supporting peaceful coexistence despite what appear to be contradictions between different systems, and positing different frameworks serving different legitimate purposes. The essays refine and extend Hellman's modal-structuralist account of mathematics, developing a height-potentialist view of higher set theory which recognizes indefinite extendability of models and stages at which sets occur. In the first of three new essays written for this volume, Hellman shows how extendability can be deployed to derive the axiom of Infinity and that of Replacement, improving on earlier accounts; he also shows how extendability leads to attractive, novel resolutions of the set-theoretic paradoxes.
