Applied Antifragility in Natural Systems
As coined in the book of Nassim Taleb, antifragility is a property of a system to gain from uncertainty, randomness, and volatility, opposite to what fragility would incur. An antifragile system's response to external perturbations is beyond robust, such that small stressors can strengthen the future response of the system by adding a strong anticipation component. Such principles are already well suited for describing behaviors in natural systems but also in approaching therapy designs and eco-system modelling and eco-system analysis. The purpose of this book is to build a foundational knowledge base by applying antifragile system design, analysis, and development in natural systems, including biomedicine, neuroscience, and ecology as main fields. We are interested in formalizing principles and an apparatus that turns the basic concept of antifragility into a tool for designing and building closed-loop systems that behave beyond robust in the face of uncertainty when characterizing and intervening in biomedical and ecological (eco)systems. The book introduces the framework of applied antifragility and possible paths to build systems that gain from uncertainty. We draw from the body of literature on natural systems (e.g. cancer therapy, antibiotics, neuroscience, and agricultural pest management) in an attempt to unify the scales of antifragility in one framework. The work of the Applied Antifragility Group in oncology, neuroscience, and ecology led by the authors provides a good overview on the current research status.

Education's Hidden Drivers
This study explores the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES), utility consumption, and student attainment in UK higher education, focusing on Sheffield. Using data from HESA, GOV.UK, and the Office for National Statistics, it combines quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse how IMD-measured deprivation, energy use, and academic outcomes intersect. Stakeholders like local governments, universities, utility firms, and developers can use these insights for infrastructure planning, policy-making, and community development. Key findings reveal a strong link between electricity use and postgraduate success, likely due to intensive research demands, while undergraduate performance is shaped by broader factors beyond just SES or energy consumption. The study highlights the complexity of student achievement and calls for integrated strategies addressing both socioeconomic and infrastructural influences in higher education.

Development and Validation of a Global Job Satisfaction Scale
Humanity now lives and works in two worlds - the physical world and the cyber world. Tech workers are employees, not necessarily Information Technology (IT) professionals, who work in both worlds and seamlessly harness accessible resources in the worlds to meet organizational goals. This category of employees has unique job experiences and is more complicated to manage than the traditional workforce. Job satisfaction - a measurable outcome of employee wellbeing - remains a crucial indicator of an employee's job experience. This psychological health of employees' requisite for organizational effectiveness, and global productivity and inclusion is usually measured using a standardized job satisfaction scale. However, existing job satisfaction scales for Tech workers lack specificity of measurement or cultural inclusivity. Furthermore, the job satisfaction scales are usually adopted for use without application guideline and going the full-length trials as done with other health products. This study therefore developed and validated a job satisfaction scale for Tech workers in the global context, designed its application guideline and as well, performed a pivotal trial on the scale.

Mastering Third-Party Risk
Third-party risks that are the result of relationships external to our organizations grow greater and more complex as the number of third parties we deal with grows and the complexity of our supply chains increases. In the ever-expanding and rapidly evolving global marketplace, supply chain management (SCM) has become increasingly critical for businesses of all sizes. SCM is a necessary lifeline for organizations that depend on external providers for their products, services, intellectual property, and integration of extended partner networks. As supply chains become increasingly complex, often spanning multiple countries, they become more vulnerable to geopolitical risks and logistical challenges. Unplanned events, such as natural disasters, supplier bankruptcies, trade disputes, and cyberattacks, can lead to significant operational disruptions and economic losses and have profound implications for a company's financial stability. This book provides a thorough treatment of third-party risk, whether you're dealing primarily with regional vendors or a complex global supply chain.

Face with Tears of Joy
We are surrounded by emoji. They appear in politics, movies, drug deals, our sex lives, and more. But emoji's impact has never been explored in full. In this rollicking tech and pop culture history, Keith Houston follows emoji from its birth in 1990s Japan, traces its Western explosion in the 2000s, and considers emoji's ever-expanding lexicon. Named for the world's most popular pictogram, Face with Tears of Joy tells the whole story of emoji for the first time.
Guidebook
Local policy-makers and regulators (e.g., city representatives) and logistics providers are faced with the challenge of promoting sustainable logistics in order to reduce CO2 emissions, improve air quality, reduce noise, alleviate traffic congestion and make suburban and urban areas more livable. However, the use of supply-side measures (e.g., the procurement of clean delivery vehicles) must be accompanied by aligned demand-side measures to promote, encourage and incentivise consumers to choose these options when it is offered to them. In the context of online shopping, such demand-side measures can take the form of digital nudges on online shops to subtly guide shoppers to choose the sustabinable delivery option (which operate without restrictions or bans). A certain level of infrastructure (e.g., cargo bikes, pick-up stations and parcel lockers) need to be there for people to use it, however, understanding and fostering the public's personal capabilities and motivations is also paramount. The purpose of this guidebook is to provide a comprehensive, actionable approach to designing digital interventions that promote sustainable consumer delivery choices on e-commerce sites. Drawing on the latest behavioral science models, such as the COM-B Model (Michie et al., 2011), and offering step-by-step guidance on applying digital nudging, this guidebook aims to empower you to craft effective behavior change campaigns. By applying the insights and tools within, the guidebook seeks to support the creation of more sustainable, efficient, and consumer-friendly logistics system. This guidebook was produced as part of the SuCoLo project, which has been funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology under the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership, which has been co-funded by the European Union under grant agreement no. 905465.
