Predicting Municipal Solid Waste Generation Using Machine Learning
Municipal Solid Waste generation is a byproduct of daily human activities, originating from households, offices, commercial enterprises, and other establishments, with the rise in global population, coupled with economic development. The proportion of waste being generated has risen over the years, presenting notable challenges to waste management systems worldwide. Accurate prediction of Municipal Solid waste is important for waste management organizations to plan and make efficient waste management strategies. This thesis explores the utilization of machine learning approaches in predicting municipal solid waste generation accurately for a specific geographic region, concentrating on the city of Boralesgamuwa's in the Colombo District of Sri Lanka based on historical waste generation patterns. Additionally, the research incorporates feature engineering to enrich the dataset by adding relevant features to it using the pandas datetime library. This research is based on two distinct prediction methods, a single-model approach and a multimodel ensemble approach, while incorporating feature engineering. The dataset used in this investigation has historical municipal solid waste.

Factorization Models for Multi-Relational Data
Mining multi-relational data has gained relevance in the last years and found applications in a number of tasks like recommender systems, link prediction, RDF mining, natural language processing, protein-interaction prediction and social network analysis just to cite a few. Appropriate machine learning models for such tasks must not only be able to operate on large scale scenarios, but also deal with noise, partial inconsistencies, ambiguities, or duplicate entries in the data. In recent years there has been a growing interest on multi-relational factorization models since they have shown to be a scalable and effective approach for multi-relational learning. This thesis formalizes the relational learning problem and investigates open issues in the state-of-the-art factorization models for multi-relational data. Specifically it studies how to deal with the open world assumption present in many real world relational datasets and how to optimize models for multiple target relations.
Advances in Differential Dynamical Systems with Applications to Economics and Biology, 2nd Edition
In recent research on natural processes, mathematical modeling has become useful. It is often the case that, in fields such as economics and biology, a temporal lag between cause and effect must often be taken into consideration. A natural and practical implementation of this phenomenon is through distributed delays in modeling. This is because they illustrate the situation where temporal lags arise in certain ranges of values for certain related probability distributions, considering the variables' entire behavior history. Another mathematical tool that allows for systems' memory and inherited properties to be encompassed in a model is the replacement of integer-order derivatives with fractional derivatives. To address realistic conditions, stochastic perturbation framed by a stochastic differential delay system can explain the ambiguity about the system's context. The present book comprises all the 14 articles accepted and published in the Special Issue "Advances in Differential Dynamical Systems with Applications to Economics and Biology, 2nd Edition" of the MDPI journal Mathematics, with focuses on the dynamical analysis of mathematical models arising from economy and biology, and innovative developments in mathematical techniques for their applications. The aim of this Special Issue was to collect original research articles on the most recent research in nonadditive entropies and nonextensive statistical mechanics with their applications in physics and elsewhere, as well as comprehensive review articles covering these topics from a theoretical, experimental, or computational viewpoint.This generalization of the centennial Boltzmann--Gibbs statistical mechanics and of the entropy upon which it is based were proposed in 1988 and have received, since then, many applications in natural, artificial, and social sciences. The undeniable success of the Boltzmann--Gibbs theory is deeply related to strongly chaotic nonlinear dynamical systems. In particular, for classical systems, the standard requirement is that the maximal Lyapunov exponent is positive. At the edge of chaos, where the maximal Lyapunov exponent vanishes, the need emerges for nonadditive entropies and consistent generalizations of quantities such as the Maxwellian distributions of velocities, the celebrated Boltzmann--Gibbs weight for energies, and Pesin-like identities. This generalized theory has received uncountable validations in complex systems.Professor Constantino Tsallis has had an outstanding global impact on physics, astrophysics, geophysics, economics, mathematics, and computational sciences, among others. In recognition of his extraordinarily creative and productive scientific life and innumerable contributions to the field of statistical physics of complex systems, this Special Issue is dedicated to him on his 80th birthday (5 November 2023).

Optmising Unprocessed Milk Transportation Routes in Malawi Using GIS
In Malawi, smallholder dairy farmers transport unprocessed milk to sell at Milk Bulking Groups (MBGs). MBGs store and chill the milk while awaiting collection by processors. The farmer deliver milk using various modes of transport such as foot, bicycle and motorcycle. As a perishable food, milk requires timely transportation to avoid deterioration. In other instances, some farmers bypass their nearest MBGs for facilities located further. Untimely delivery worsens quality and results in rejection at MBG. Subsequently, famers lose revenue losses. Therefore, the objective of this study was to optimize routes when transporting milk by selecting the shortest route using time as cost attribute in GIS. A spatially organized transport system impedes milk deterioration while promoting profitability to farmers. A transport system was modeled using Route Analysis and Closest Facility network extensions. The final output was to find quickest routes and identify nearest facilities from incidents.
Sentiment Analysis on Regional Texts Using Computational Linguistics
Social media has emerged as a major information source for people of all ages, allowing users to voice their thoughts on anything from movies to companies. Sentiment analysis systematically examines online expressions to assess the positive or negative aspects of these opinions. It is a fundamental component of Natural Language Processing (NLP), which sits at the nexus of computer science, artificial intelligence, and linguistics. NLP seeks to make it possible for machines to "understand" human language in order to perform tasks like question-answering and translation.Two methods are used in this study for applying sentiment analysis on Gujarati movie reviews: Gujarati Machine Learning Sentiment Analysis (GMLSA) and Gujarati Lexicon Sentiment Analysis (GLSA). Five datasets are used to test the accuracy of machine learning and vocabulary-based methods. The machine learning method uses Logistic Regression (LR), KNN, Random Forest (RF), Na簿ve Bayes (NB), and SVM, as well as TF-IDF for feature extraction, whereas the vocabulary-based approach uses GujSentiWordNet. When compared to vocabulary-based methods, the machine learning approach improves accuracy by 3-10% on average.

It starts with a bare machine and builds the system level by level. In the end, a reader will appreciate how all the components of an operating system work together to form a unified, integrated platform that allows arbitrary application programs to run concurrently.The text uses a small, elegant system named Xinu as an example to illustrate the concepts and principles and make the discussion concrete. Because an operating system must deal with the underlying hardware, the text shows examples for the two basic computer architectural approaches used in the computer industry: CISC and RISC.
