In this work, a deeper understanding of the electrochemical oxidation at SOFC anodes was gained by the experimental characterization of patterned Ni anodes in H2-H2O and CO-CO2 atmosphere. By high resolution data analysis, the Line Specific Resistance attributed to charge transfer and its dependencies on gas composition, temperature and polarization voltage were identified. Furthermore, the comparison of the performance of patterned and cermet anodes was enabled using a transmission line model.

Blocks, Towards Energy-efficient, Coarse-grained Reconfigurable Architectures
This book describes a new, coarse-grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA), called Blocks, and puts it in the context of computer architectures, and in particular of other CGRAs. The book starts with an extensive evaluation of historic and existing CGRAs and their strengths and weaknesses. This also leads to a better understanding and new definition of what distinguishes CGRAs from other architectural approaches. The authors introduce Blocks as unique due to its separate programmable control and data paths, allowing light-weight instruction decode units to be arbitrarily connected to one or more functional units (FUs) over a statically configured interconnect. The discussion includes an explanation of how to model architectures, resulting in an area and energy model for Blocks. The accuracy of this model is evaluated against fully implemented architectures, showing that although it is three orders of magnitude faster than synthesis the error margin is very acceptable. Thebook concludes with a case study on a real System-on-Chip, including a RISC architecture, the Blocks CGRA and peripherals.

Personalized Multi-Scale Modeling of the Atria
This book targets three fields of computational multi-scale cardiac modeling. First, advanced models of the cellular atrial electrophysiology and fiber orientation are introduced. Mit den dadurch entstandenen Bauteilen wurden verschiedene experimentell zuvor noch nicht beobachtete makroskopische Quanteneffekte nachgewiesen. Weiterhin wurden Nb-basierte Phasen-Qubits entworfen, hergestellt und gemessen, die l瓣ngere Koh瓣renzzeiten als vergleichbare Bauelemente aus der Literatur aufweisen.

Excimer-Lampen basierend auf Dielektrisch Behinderten Entladungen (DBD) sind effiziente Quellen ultravioletter Strahlung. Diese Arbeit verbindet theoretische Betrachtungen mit der praktischen Verifikation neu entwickelter Topologien und Betriebsmodi, um DBEs effizient mit kurzen Hochspannungspulsen zu betreiben. Durch transformatorlose Topologien und Nutzung von SiC Leistungshalbleitern konnten Effizienzen von bis zu 92 % und Pulsfrequenzen von bis zu 3.1 MHz erreicht werden.
Fusion of Data from Heterogeneous Sensors with Distributed Fields of View and Situation Evaluation for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
In order to develop a driver assistance system for pedestrian protection, pedestrians in the environment of a truck are detected by radars and a camera and are tracked across distributed fields of view using a Joint Integrated Probabilistic Data Association filter. A robust approach for prediction of the system vehicles trajectory is presented. It serves the computation of a probabilistic collision risk based on reachable sets where different sources of uncertainty are taken into account.
