Phototherapy in Newborns
The aim of this study was to search the literature for scientific evidence on nursing care for newborns undergoing phototherapy. The method used consisted of an integrative review of 20 articles located in the SCIELO and LILACS electronic library databases. The results showed that the role of nursing is indispensable in the knowledge of these procedures in order not only to fulfil the prescription but also to care for the jaundiced newborn with knowledge, safety, efficiency and special care to achieve the results. The study leads to the conclusion that nursing has a wide-ranging role, from the complete identification of components, handling, choice, adaptation, adjustment and irradiance measurement of phototherapy devices with or without the baby, to the specific care of the newborn undergoing phototherapy treatment in order to obtain the best results, in the shortest time and with the minimum acceptable side effects in this practice.
Nursing, its attitudes and behaviour towards suicide
For 10 years I have been dealing with people suffering from self-harm in various health institutions. I have had the sublime opportunity to continue dealing with this issue, now through academia. Learning about the attitudes and behaviours of nursing staff in the face of suicidal behaviour was a great learning experience, as a wide variety of information was collected, and between rights, technical capacity and feelings towards suicidal patients, professionals can demonstrate the most diverse conditions, from fear and insecurity to unwillingness to deal with this public. This work contributes with proposals for the nursing team that works in emergencies when faced with the phenomenon of suicide. May it inspire those who want to train these professionals to deal better with people who try to take their own lives. I dedicate this book to those who once walked into the unknown, down the path of death through suicide. I am truly sorry! Institutionalising Old People
This work carried out a conceptual theoretical study on ageing and the major changes that accompany this process in our society, emphasising the implications for the institutionalisation of the elderly. Based on considerations about the phenomenon of ageing in Brazil, the research sought to analyse the context of shelters for the elderly and the care provided by Long Stay Institutions (ILPIs). Our general aim was to reflect on the socio-historical aspects that make up an institution for the care of the elderly and the repercussions of the institutionalisation process on ageing and frail individuals. The specific objectives were: to describe the gerontological practices carried out in ILPIs and the nuances achieved by the perception of the ageing process; to problematise institutionalised old age in an interdisciplinary way; to present the psychoanalytical aspects that have an impact on the discomfort of ageing in contemporary times; to research issues relating to enclosure, reminiscence and resistance.
Profile of gastrostomy patients and the role of the carer
When care is provided in hospital by a specialised professional, it is believed to be easy for this professional to do, due to the skills and techniques learnt in training, developed for procedures and strategies to provide the best care for human beings. However, when the experience of caring is within the family, there are difficulties. Thus, a professional nurse specialised in all aspects is needed to accompany and train the family member/caregiver. A multi-professional and interdisciplinary team is needed that is attuned to each other and to all the family's anxieties and doubts; supporting decisions and sustaining care at home for patients with gastrostomies. Breastfeeding and neonatology
Prematurity continues to cause public health concerns and accounts for the majority of perinatal morbidity and mortality, which can have repercussions in terms of immediate damage and late sequelae. Among the most important strategies that significantly contribute to reducing the risks for this population is breastfeeding. In addition to being the best food for babies, breast milk contributes to a reduction of up to 13% in infant mortality in children under five years of age (LARA, 2021). Breastfeeding, however, is still a challenge, especially in neonatal units. And if breastfeeding is not constantly encouraged, maintaining milk production can be compromised. With the aim of reducing neonatal mortality rates and improving care for newborns in maternity hospitals, the Ministry of Health (MoH), through the General Coordination of Child Health and Breastfeeding (CGSCAM/DAPES/SAS), established the QualiNEO Strategy. Opara went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from The College of New Jersey, in Trenton, New Jersey. Opara holds a Doctorate in Education, and received two master's degrees in Business Administration, all from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. After holding various positions in the New State Government, Opara has become a very successful entrepreneur in real estate development, and as a consultant in Urban Education Leadership programs. Kemdi is currently the Chief Executive/Partner of 1 Heart Home Health Care, LLC in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; A Place of Hope Home Health Care, LLC in Trenton, New Jersey; And The Lotuscure LLC - a health and wellness center in Trenton, New Jersey. The Effectiveness of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2023 in the subject Health - Fitness and Health Management, grade: A, course: Health, language: English, abstract: The condition known as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, is common and frequently results in hospital admissions for emergency care. It is associated with elevated rates of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. A vital component of hospital care for acute breathing difficulties, resulting mostly from cardiac coronary artery disease, is persistent positive airway pressure, or CPAP. Although it seems sense that early CPAP application in the pre-hospital situation would improve the health of patients, there aren't many outcomes research studies to support this theory. This systematic review and meta-analysis set out to find out how well CPAP worked for COPD patients in out-of-hospital settings. I evaluated possible publications as an impartial reviewer after doing a literature assessment of additional literature and bibliographic databases. Publications that contrasted CPAP therapy (along with standard care) with no CPAP for COPD in the prehospital context were considered. Studies examining other non-invasive ventilation techniques were excluded. The Cochrane Collaboration's recommendations were used to evaluate the methodology. The frequency of intubations, death rates, medical conditions, and dyspnea score were among the outcomes. To quantify the pooled effect of CPAP on outcomes, forest plots were built.

Caring for patients with neoplastic wounds
Neoplastic wounds represent a distressing burden for patients facing a prognosis of terminal illness, since they are lesions that have no possibility of healing, disfigure the physical appearance and develop symptoms that are difficult to control. The aim of this study was to verify the knowledge and practice of nurses in caring for patients with neoplastic wounds. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative design carried out with 22 nurses from a philanthropic hospital in Campina Grande - PB between April and June 2016. The results showed that nurses have gaps in their knowledge of content and techniques for assessing and treating patients with neoplastic wounds. In addition, it was found that nurses do not provide some of the care required for this clientele. The research institution therefore needs to invest in continuing education in order to train the nursing team to monitor patients with these lesions, acquire the necessary materials and implement care protocols to guide the practice of assessment and therapeutic methods for caring for these patients.
