Acute physiological responses at different recovery intervals
Much has been discussed about the behavior of acute physiological responses in resistance exercise (RE). Against this backdrop, this study was carried out with the aim of providing information on the behavior of these variables (heart rate, blood pressure, double product and subjective perception of effort) during resistance exercise in young university students. Due to the seriousness of the data collection process, I am happy to present these results, which have been duly assessed and treated. Knowing that this work will not answer all the questions relating to the variables investigated, I would stress the importance of further research using different methodologies and instruments, with the aim of finding answers to these variables and thereby taking a small step towards building knowledge.

The Sarcomatrix [EG] of Exercise
After an entire lifetime devoted to the study and practice of exercising, Eric A. Glickstein has documented the reasons why it is impossible to personalize training without an understanding of the influences of intramuscular forces that represent our efforts against the effects of external forces that resist them. Consequently, "The SARCOMATRIX of Exercise" is an expose on the naive standards of typical personal training education that repudiates the relevance of forces, a thesis on the contraction of intramuscular forces that grant joint mobility, a chronicle of all the steps in the process of preparation and personalization for any kind of performance goal, and a tribute to Tom Purvis, founder of Resistance Training Specialists(r) and progenitor of the Exercise Mechanics(r) upon which the book is based.

The aim of the study was to analyse the level of fitness of divers in the Military Fire Brigade who work at the 3rd Company of the 2nd Military Fire Brigade Battalion of Santa Catarina in Videira, from the time they joined the institution, during the diving training period, pre- and post-course in general, and to relate the data collected through a documentary study to their performance at work and what influences diving. The End of College Football
In this book, Nathan Kalman-Lamb and Derek Silva offer an existential challenge to one of America's favorite pastimes: college football. Drawing on twenty-five in-depth interviews with former players from some of the country's most prominent college football teams, Kalman-Lamb and Silva explore how football is both predicated on a foundation of coercion and suffused with racialized harm and exploitation. Through the stories of those who lived it, the authors examine the ways in which college football must be understood as a site of harm, revealing how players are systematically denied the economic value they produce for universities and offered only a devalued education in return.By illuminating the plantation dynamics that make college football a particularly racialized form of exploitation, the book makes legible the forms of physical sacrifice that are required, the ultimate cost in health and well-being, and the coercion that drives players into the sport and compels them to endure such abusive conditions.
The use of memory in soccer club marketing
Memory is an important strategic asset and has been used gradually and indirectly in soccer club marketing. The purpose of this book was to identify how memory can be used in the marketing of soccer clubs, given the role it plays and the present and future potential of using memory in soccer clubs. The considerations presented in this book open up possibilities for soccer clubs to direct their marketing actions towards aspects of the past in order to develop products, goods and services that adequately meet the needs of their consumers and that serve to identify what from the past and how the past should be praised when relaunching actions that are anchored in the past of soccer clubs. "Remembering is easy for those with memories. Forgetting is difficult for those with hearts." William Shakespeare

Nutritional Supplements in Physical Exercise
In Brazil, the marketing of food supplements for sports purposes is supervised by the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA). In 2005, products intended for physical activity practitioners had to be approved and registered with ANVISA before they could be marketed in the country. In the following years, this requirement was revoked and the purpose of this work is to discuss whether this measure was adequate, as well as to assess whether consumers have become more susceptible to the hundreds of misleading advertisements attributed to the physiological effects (hypertrophy, weight loss, increased strength, etc.) displayed on the packaging and marketing of supplements in stores and websites specializing in this commercial segment. We will also discuss whether these metabolic effects are possible through the consumption of these products.
Religion and Sport in Japan
The sports world's attention was focused on Japan for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. The years-long buildup to and aftermath of the games occurred in the midst of the global pandemic, which delayed the event until 2021. Given all of this, there is perhaps no better time to delve into an often overlooked but critical facet of sport in Japan: religion. Religion has long been a part of the Japanese sport tradition--from Shugendō practitioners offering sumo bouts to the gods to soccer players of all ages praying for success at Shintō shrines; from the use of meditation and ritual in martial arts to gain focus or superhuman abilities to religious organizations sponsoring sporting events and teams and school sports clubs. Religion and Sport in Japan brings together historians and sport and religious studies specialists from Japan, the US, and Europe to address sport's ties to corporate and national identity, politics, environmentalism, ritual, and sacred space. Major themes discussed include the spiritual geographies of sport, sport as invented tradition, technologies of self, material culture, and civil religion. The chapters are written so that sport historians with no background in the study of Japan or religious studies scholars who have never before examined the world of sport will find the material accessible. To provide further grounding for non-field specialists, the volume begins with two background chapters that introduce sport studies in Japan and the study of religion and sport.

Learning Bridge is Easy
It links the importance of learning bridge and how this game helps in everyday life socially and at work and demonstrates the importance of learning it in schools and universities. It allows us to have contact with other people, join bridge clubs and tournaments. Learning it in schools is fundamental, it is a game included as an Olympic sport, because it produces an exercise in the mind that is difficult to achieve in universities, it helps to train the student in the application of logic, to connect with co-workers by listening to them and sharing learning, it activates concentration in special moments of decision making. The book, unlike others of this game, marks all these virtues in the development of learning. It is also ideal for teachers because it marks a new way of teaching, which makes it very easy for the student to understand.

Who We Met on the Way to Stanford
In the fall of 2000, my son began attending Stanford on a golf scholarship. It was a long and challenging road to achieve this goal. When he learned about the college, he went around the house with his Stanford sweatshirt and seldom took it off. After winning the San Diego Junior World Golf Championship, he was an accomplished junior golfer.Stanford's coach at the time was Wally Goodwin, an excellent, cheerful fellow who was also Tiger Woods's coach. Wally had seen the best golfers at Stanford, so he was a coach who knew what he wanted in a player. He started following my son after this victory at the San Diego tournament, and around the time, he received a letter asking Wally if he would come to watch him play golf. Wally did; he was there often to oversee this young man's development and golf.As a father, I took my son to many golf tournaments. He was a joy to watch and did well as a junior golfer through high school. He even had the accomplishment of replacing Tiger Woods' scoring record. Tiger's best score for the high school championships in Southern California was 66, but my son managed to shoot a 65 in his junior year against players from five hundred and eighty-six schools and other high schools. Many other delightful moments were watching my son play, and good times I will not forget. One day, while reading through some of my writings, I came across some notes my son had sent me about appealing the dismissal of his scholarship. Reading the notes almost seventeen years later was a revelation to me. I was unaware of the time frames at the time of the essence of this story, so I investigated the information further. What I discovered became the basis of this book. There were weeks of struggling with the time frames and difficulties understanding what happened in the struggle at Stanford. The book is my way of putting together what I discovered. What I found to be mostly true, but not having been there myself, I may not even know half the story. Nevertheless, this is my memoir of what it was like raising a kid with extraordinary talent playing golf and what happened when he arrived at Standford to fulfill his obligation for the scholarship he received.

The evaluation of special endurance in sprint runners
The text is derived from a scientific research on the sport of athletics, as the need to go deeper into this subject is evident. This was corroborated with an initial bibliographic search. The work is based on the aspects of the evaluation of special resistance. Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used for its development. The objective of this work was the elaboration of a methodology for the evaluation of special resistance in school category speed runners. The practical significance is concretized in the compendium of functional tests that propitiate the realization of this process in the best way. After carrying out a nominal group constituted by specialists of high performance in athletics and related sciences and two meetings, by consensus, the methodology elaborated was considered very pertinent.
Nutritional behavior in alpine skiing
This study examines the nutritional behavior and knowledge of young athletes and at the same time summarizes important information on healthy nutritional behavior. A quantitative survey was used to collect and analyze data on the participants' daily food intake, nutritional knowledge and physical characteristics. The results show frequent deficits in the supply of energy and micronutrients as well as an excess of fat and sugar. The study emphasizes the importance of targeted nutritional strategies and education to promote healthy eating habits and athletic performance in young athletes.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sport and Leisure
Despite the mythology of sport bringing people together and encouraging everyone to work collectively to success, modern sport remains a site of exclusionary practices that operate on a number of levels. Although sports participation is, in some cases at least, becoming more open and meritocratic, at the management level it remains very homogenous; dominated by western, white, middle-aged, able-bodied men. This has implications both for how sport develops and how it is experienced by different participant groups, across all levels. Critical studies of sport have revealed that, rather than being a passive mechanism and merely reflecting inequality, sport, via social agents' interactions with sporting spaces, is actively involved in producing, reproducing, sustaining and indeed, resisting, various manifestations of inequality. The experiences of marginalised groups can act as a resource for explaining contemporary political struggles over what sport means, how it should be played (and by whom), and its place within wider society. Central to this collection is the argument that the dynamics of cultural identities are contextually contingent; influenced heavily by time and place and the extent to which they are embedded in the culture of their geographic location. They also come to function differently within certain sites and institutions; be it in one's everyday routine or leisure pursuits, such as sport. Among the themes and issues explored by the contributors to this volume are: social inclusion and exclusion in relation to class, 'race' and ethnicity, gender and sexuality; social identities and authenticity; social policy, deviance and fandom. This book was published as a special issue of Sport in Society.
