Traditional Signalling on British Railways
Signalling on British Railways underwent massive change from Nationalisation in 1948 to privatisation in the 1990s, but throughout this period much of the network's infrastructure dated from the era of the Big Four and the pre-Grouping companies. The variety of traditional signalling in use in the BR era, from the pre-Grouping infrastructure and mechanical signalling up to BR-built signal boxes prior to the conversion to colour-light signalling, is explored here. The principles of signalling operation are also explained. In this book author Robert Hendry presents a fascinating insight into traditional signalling on British railways through a wealth of rare and previously unpublished images.

Cranswick on Classic Chevrolet Corvette 1953-1996
Rome wasn't built in a day, and, similarly, the dream of developing a world class American sports car took time and effort. Harley Earl and Ed Cole gave Corvette a push start, and Zora Arkus Duntov took the Plastic Fantastic into orbit, based on the combination of excellent design and hardware, as well as the racing achievements that followed. Once established, the Corvette became a Chevrolet icon, utilised by Bow Tie and GM marketing to benefit the automaker. However, Corvette was no loss leader, it earned its keep and the respect of industry commentators. The Corvette maintained all these qualities despite the triple whammy of insurance rate hikes, emissions controls and fuel crises, and survived into the '80s with a fresh design that took on all sports car competitors.Archive images, independent testing, and the viewpoints of Chevrolet and auto industry personalities illustrate the rise and rise of America's only sports car, including a substantial mid-engine genesis. Marc Cranswick's original commentary pays homage to the Corvette as an enduring glamor icon and the ultimate dream machine!

The Legend of American Motors
American Motors was the little company that made a big impact. Maker of the Rambler family car, the Kenosha-based AMC offered an antidote to the excess of Detroit's Big 3. But when America decided it wanted sporty, rather than econocars, AMC got groovy with the Javelin, AMX, Scrambler and Rebel Machine. American Motors was a proven performer in showrooms and on the track, with success in drag and road course racing. However, through it all came solid Rambler value, and a different approach from Detroit. An accent on consumer protection, along with brand label special editions. And when it came to blue sky thinking, AMC surpassed all with the Gremlin and Pacer small cars.Off road, Kenosha truly made Jeep 'The One & Only, ' popularizing the brand and making it the sales success it is today. Beyond that, AMC created America's first crossover, the Eagle. It all proved that America's smallest ... was its biggest surprise!

Trains
This is a picture book for all train and tram loving children and adults. It is a small tour though several countries. It is not the usual train picture book.It is seen from the toddler's perspective.Rather, it is what we saw as we passed by with the interested toddler. The pictures are incidental pictures. They just happened. They happened mostly because of our toddler, who is absolutely obsessed with trains and trams - and funiculars. And anything on wheels, for that sake. That is why we start with children's scale tram and train replicas. They look like the real thing - only they have a better size for children. It shows that how we experience the World is probably very much from our own perspective. The authors are not train and tram professionals and readers are welcome to correct any errors. We hope you will enjoy the book and the pictures. This title is available as ebook from D2D and in color print in the United States under ISBN 978-1-956-773-590
The North American Auto Industry Since NAFTA
The auto sector is North America's most iconic of industries. Since the North American Free Trade Agreement came into existence in 1994, the sector has undergone tremendous change: escalating concerns around climate change, advances in electric and automated vehicles, deindustrialization/reindustrialization, and the rise of low-cost locations as hubs for manufacturing. The North American Auto Industry since NAFTA examines the issues that have preoccupied the development of policy associated with the manufacture of automobiles in North America. The collection addresses the punctuations that have afflicted the industry since NAFTA's implementation as well as the slower, incremental evolutions that have also occurred. Several aspects of automobility and the industry are explored, including but not limited to the Canadian, American, and Mexican automotive sectors and their evolution and interaction under evolving trade regimes. The book analyses issues surrounding labour, technology, trade policy, regional development, the environment, and broader societal impacts of the automobile. It also draws on the expertise of a wide cross-section of industry experts and scholars to provide readers with a deeper understanding of the automotive industry and its central role in North America's economic, business, and political landscape.
