Enhancing User Experience in Dating Apps through Gamification
Bachelor Thesis from the year 2023 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: 2,0, language: English, abstract: The integration of game mechanics into non-game-related environments, also known as gamification, has gained increased attention in recent years. This practice can have a significant impact on the user experience in different contexts. In the past, gamification was mainly researched in the field of education. However, with the rise of dating apps, there has recently been an opportunity to use gamification as a promising way to improve the user experience in this particular context. This thesis focuses on the central research question: "How does the integration of gamification elements impact the overall user experience in dating apps?". To answer this question, three different prototypes for an iPhone application were developed. These prototypes are based on the well-known dating app "Tinder" and mainly focus on the user interface while "swiping". One of the prototypes doesn't contain any additional gamification elements, while another prototype has integrated progress bars and a third prototype has integrated sound effects. In total 50 subjects were recruited to test the prototypes. Subsequently, the participants filled out a questionnaire that included both specially developed questions and questions from the "User Experience Questionnaire Short (UEQ-S)" by Schrepp et al. (2017). The quantitative data collected was analysed to assess the impact of gamification elements on the user experience. The results of this research showed that the integration of sound effects resulted in an 8% increase in user experience, while the integration of a progress bar resulted in a significant improvement of 25%. These findings highlight the positive impact of gamification elements in dating apps and provide valuable insights for the development of future applications in this area. This thesis therefore contributes to the in-depth investigation of gamificat
A Decision Procedure Approach to Linux Modules Dependency
Technical Report from the year 2015 in the subject Computer Science - Software, grade: 12, course: Operating systems, language: English, abstract: This report focuses on the dependency resolution mechanism between modules for the Linux kernel. The reasoning concerns how to express dependency relation in propositional logic, based on different Linux kernel modules. It is around this topic that further development will be held. The reasoning will concern how to express this dependency relation in propositional logic. To establish a development, an analysis of the kbuild system is performed. The goal is to identify how and what are the elements that take part in the dependency tracking mechanism. The kbuild is a framework providing tools to construct the kernel. It can be declined into two main component: the kconfig files and makefiles. These are the elements that are responsible for handling dependency. Logic is used to express a proof i.e., the correctness of a reasoning. To do so, a proof assistant viz., Coq is used. A decision procedure is a mechanism that resolves a problem by answering it using yes or no.

An Introduction to Image Classification
Image classification is a critical component in computer vision tasks and has numerous applications. Traditional methods for image classification involve feature extraction and classification in feature space. Current state-of-the-art methods utilize end-to-end learning with deep neural networks, where feature extraction and classification are integrated into the model. Understanding traditional image classification is important because many of its design concepts directly correspond to components of a neural network. This knowledge can help demystify the behavior of these networks, which may seem opaque at first sight. The book starts from introducing methods for model-driven feature extraction and classification, including basic computer vision techniques for extracting high-level semantics from images. A brief overview of probabilistic classification with generative and discriminative classifiers is then provided. Next, neural networks are presented as a means to learn a classification model directly from labeled sample images, with individual components of the network discussed. The relationships between network components and those of a traditional designed model are explored, and different concepts for regularizing model training are explained. Finally, various methods for analyzing what a network has learned are covered in the closing section of the book. The topic of image classification is presented as a thoroughly curated sequence of steps that gradually increase understanding of the working of a fully trainable classifier. Practical exercises in Python/Keras/Tensorflow have been designed to allow for experimental exploration of these concepts. In each chapter, suitable functions from Python modules are briefly introduced to provide students with the necessary tools to conduct these experiments.

State Estimation for Robotics
A key aspect of robotics today is estimating the state (e.g., position and orientation) of a robot, based on noisy sensor data. This book targets students and practitioners of robotics by presenting classical state estimation methods (e.g., the Kalman filter) but also important modern topics such as batch estimation, Bayes filter, sigmapoint and particle filters, robust estimation for outlier rejection, and continuous-time trajectory estimation and its connection to Gaussian-process regression. Since most robots operate in a three-dimensional world, common sensor models (e.g., camera, laser rangefinder) are provided followed by practical advice on how to carry out state estimation for rotational state variables. The book covers robotic applications such as point-cloud alignment, pose-graph relaxation, bundle adjustment, and simultaneous localization and mapping. Highlights of this expanded second edition include a new chapter on variational inference, a new section on inertial navigation, more introductory material on probability, and a primer on matrix calculus.

Basic Math for Game Development with Unity 3D
This book will teach you fundamental mathematical concepts using Unity-based custom examples, explaining the implementations and demonstrating how these concepts are applied in building modern video game functionality. You will learn the theoretical foundation of each concept, and then interact, examine, and modify the implementation to inspect the effects. Basic Math for Game Development with Unity 3D begins by explaining points in the 3D Cartesian Coordinate system. From there, you'll gain insight into vectors and details of dot and cross products, quaternions, rotation and decomposition of vectors. These basic mathematical foundations are illustrated through Unity-based example implementations. Associated with these concept presentations are separate examples of how the concepts are applied in creating typical video game functionality, such as collision support, motion simulations, autonomous behaviors, shadow approximations, and reflections off surfaces with arbitrary orientations. After completing this book, you will have a thorough understanding of core mathematical concepts and how they are used to create compelling gameplay. What You Will Learn Understand the basic concepts of points and vectors, and their applications in game developmentGrasp the details of autonomous behaviors such as facing a target, following and chasing an object, and moreApply mathematical concepts in implementing modern video game functionality such as ray casting, collision, and motion control Who Is This Book For Game enthusiasts, hobbyists, and anyone else who is interested in the implementation of interactive games but needs basic mathematical background or could just use a refresher with modern examples.

Evolution
Scripting involves an ambiguity. First, it indicates a directive, as in the commands of "scripture"; or, in the disappointment that an apparently spontaneous happening was in fact "scripted." This engages a familiar outlook on computing: code is language operating in a "prescriptive" register. Additionally, however, scripting also hints towards the materiality of graphic "inscription," such as the traces expressed in the written form of a "manuscript." Thehistory of computing presented here is situated at the joints of these two senses. Working between them prompts an archaic image of the computer, far removed from advanced technologies of electronic machinery. It instead suggests its deep historical heritage in clerical labor, affording a perspective on computation as a manual, incorporated, and lived activity-that is, as the product of scribes.
