Visualizations of virtual objects in the real environment is often done by a simplified representation with simple surfaces and without reference to the surrounding environment. The seamless fusion of the virtual and real environment is, however, an essential factor in many areas, which is of particular importance when calculating lighting in mixed realities on mobile devices. Current approaches focus on approximations, which allow the calculation of diffuse lighting, whereby the rendering of glossy reflection properties is often neglected. The aim of this book is to enable the visualization of mirror-like reflective surfaces in mixed reality. In order to achieve this goal, various approaches are explored enabling high-quality visualization of virtual objects in realtime with a focus on the use of common hardware such as cameras, sensors in mobile devices, and partially depth sensors. Complete ambient lighting can be estimated, which enables detailed reflections. The results providea novel way to embed complex and simple geometric shapes with glossy surfaces in the real world which offers a higher level of detail in the reflections without using additional hardware.

Computational Approaches in Physics reviews computational schemes which are used in the simulations of physical systems. These range from very accurate ab initio techniques up to coarse-grained and mesoscopic schemes. The choice of the method is based on the desired accuracy and computational efficiency. A bottom-up approach is used to present the various simulation methods used in Physics, starting from the lower level and the most accurate methods, up to particle-based ones. The book outlines the basic theory underlying each technique and its complexity, addresses the computational implications and issues in the implementation, as well as present representative examples. A link to the most common computational codes, commercial or open source is listed in each chapter. Life of an Exotic Entertainment Photographer
Before Facebook and smart phones film was king. In 1996 professional photographers laughed at the cheap digital camera I started bringing into strip clubs. Five years later they weren't laughing anymore. This was the time to create magic. And thanks to so many topless club owner friends of mine, adult magazines I wrote for such as "Xtreme Magazine", top feature talent agencies such as Pure Talent, and so many adult entertainer friends of mine, we created a lot of magic. Which we will probably never see the likes of again. On my alphapro.com web site I claim to be the first to bring digital photography into strip clubs. Well, maybe someone else did, but I sure haven't heard about him. While I had a local club provide me with my own phone line to access the internet, free drinks on the house, and my own table just five feet from the club's main stage. We (my dancer and club manager friends and I) could shoot all the pictures we wanted from my digital camera, put them on my laptop and broadcast them all over the world through our Lost Angels chat. No one else was doing it. Those guys shooting film just didn't get it. While the dancers I knew did and my manager and owner friends running the clubs were very quick at grasping what this new technology could do for them. Those were incredible times back then. Which in the new world of post Covid 19, Facebook and the Smart Phone we are likely to never see again.

- I made wet plate cameras for quite some time, shipping my handmade cameras all over the world. - The sliding box camera is a very early camera design dating back to the daguerreotype era, though it can be used for any of the plate photography methods. The all-wood construction lends it to be a beautiful piece of a working photographic tool. This book covers the entire construction phase. The camera made for the writing of this book is a 5"x7". However, included in the book is a section on measurements & adaptations that explains how to adapt the camera to fit your lens and format size. - I aim this book to the experienced woodworker who is familiar with some traditional joinery. Some of the joinery such as the hand-cut dovetails may be substituted with box joints or finger joints. Mitered spline joints may be used in place of the mortise & tenon joints used in the book. Though aimed at the experienced woodcrafter, I feel that those with limited experience may be able modify the methods and techniques to fit their needs. In the book, I cover all aspects of the camera making process; including lens selection, adapting my measurements for your needs, ground glass, making the acrylic inserts, brass-work, and more. 3D diagrams and color photos help you to visualize the process. - Diagrams within the body of the book are in inches; however, those same diagrams in mm are reprinted in the back of each book. This book on the Sliding Box camera and my other book, "Making the Traditional Wet Plate Camera" (Bellows version) are the only two books written on how to make historically-correct plate cameras.
