Rearing new queens for our colonies is a rewarding and important practice that often gets mis-labelled as too difficult and complicated. This, is simply, not correct and with some planning and attention to detail new queens can be produced at a fraction of the cost that you will pay for them elsewhere.Queen rearing is an organised process where thought goes into selecting which colonies are used. It is not the same as producing new queens by using swarm cells from any colony that happens to be showing signs of swarming. When you select which colonies you want to raise queens from you are beginning the process of improving your stock. You can choose the colonies with the traits you like and avoid using those with traits that you do not like. In just a few seasons you can make a noticeable difference to your colonies.Every year thousands of queens are imported into the UK to satisfy the demand from both commercial and hobby beekeepers. The reason for this is that countries in Europe (and beyond) can produce queens earlier in the season than we can in the UK and the spring is when the highest demand for queens occurs as beekeepers are sorting out the problems they find at the end of the winter and preparing for the forthcoming summer. However, with a little preparation and forward planning queens can be produced in the preceding season to accommodate demand the following spring. This means we can focus our attention on locally bred queens that are suited to our area and reduce the risk of importing pests and diseases. Rearing your own replacement queens is both interesting and fun but apart from that it makes sense financially. The small investment that may be required is quickly recouped once you have produced just a couple of new queens.

A preliminary look at what is termed as the most difficult genus in the Indo-Malaya stingless bee group to identify and differentiate between species by morphology. A study on brood cell shapes of the different stages of the cell build-up. From newly operculated cells, larval brood cells to pre-pupal and cocoons. Queen cells are scrutinized in size, proportion, and shape. The colour of the cells with the bee's anatomical colours and host cavity is examined. There is a schematic impression of the development and a growth sequence of clusters, clumps, semi-combs, full layered and spiral combs. A brief glimpse is provided of the brood of some other genera like Austroplebeia, Geniotrigona, Heterotrigona (Platytrigona), Homotrigona (Lophotrigona), Lisotrigona, and Wallacetrigona are given as comparisons. Where available, the nest and brood structure are associated with its nest entrance, which I hope will make it easier to recognize a particular species.

Introduction to Agroecology
This textbook applies basic concepts of ecology to address critical issues regarding food and agricultural systems. The intended audience is first year undergraduate students; it may also benefit higher-level undergraduates with an interest in agriculture and ecology. The level of science and general knowledge reflects this target group. The text is divided into five sections with 22 chapters in all. Each chapter has its own student learning objectives. The aim of this study is to identify, explain and ascertain the term "Social Equity" in the context of equal and unequal participation opportunity from different groups of society i.e. men, women, different caste groups and marginalized groups focusing in terms of decision making, equitable cost benefit sharing and equal access of resources among all user members of the Natural Resource Management groups in the Devisthan Community Forestry User Group and Parewatar Sinchai-Jal Upabhokta Samiti of Kumpur in Dhading district. Women, Dalit and other marginalized groups are motivated to participate in the management of CFUG and FMIS due to requirement of forest products and water resources and on the other hand they are required to include in executive committee due to the requirement of government. Participation of women, Dalit and marginalized groups should be ensured in every activity of community forest management and farmer managed irrigation system, and male members in the society should be supportive by creating favorable environment to the women. The protection and management responsibilities of forest and irrigation should be entrusted to these groups to make them fair participation in any kind of opportunities. Education, employment opportunities and independent income could make them conscious about forest and irrigation and its protection and bring concept of equal participation in every sector of natural resources. However, it is rather difficult to involve these groups in forest and irrigation management. It requires making them optimistic and confident about the benefits of future through their forest and irrigation based income generation activities. It is necessary for women to think that forest and irrigation system is their source of income and the responsibilities of its protection and management rest on their hands. Presence of women looks attractive in the eyes of government and other social activist.

Insect and Hydroponic Farming in Africa
Interestingly, some relief from today's woes may come from ancient human practices. While current agri-food production models rely on abundant supplies of water, energy, and arable land and generate significant greenhouse gas emissions in addition to forest and biodiversity loss, past practices point toward more affordable and sustainable paths. Different forms of insect farming and soilless crop farming, or hydroponics, have existed for centuries. In this report the authors make a persuasive case that frontier agriculture, particularly insect and hydroponic farming, can complement conventional agriculture. Both technologies reuse society's agricultural and organic industrial waste to produce nutritious food and animal feed without continuing to deplete the planet's land and water resources, thereby converting the world's wasteful linear food economy into a sustainable, circular food economy. As the report shows, insect and hydroponic farming can create jobs, diversify livelihoods, improve nutrition, and provide many other benefits in African and fragile, conflict-affected countries. Together with other investments in climate-smart agriculture, such as trees on farms, alternate wetting and drying rice systems, conservation agriculture, and sustainable livestock, these technologies are part of a promising menu of solutions that can help countries move their land, food, water, and agriculture systems toward greater sustainability and reduced emissions. This is a key consideration as the World Bank renews its commitment to support countries' climate action plans.
