Achievements in Photovoltaic Technologies within the Next Decades
Solar-cell efficiency is the portion of energy in the form of sunlight that can be converted via photovoltaics into electricity by the solar cell. The efficiency of the solar cells used in a photovoltaic system, in combination with latitude and climate, determines the annual energy output of the system. Usually solar panels are exposed to sunlight for longer than this in a given day, but the solar irradiance is less than 1000 W/m2 for most of the day. A solar panel can produce more when the Sun is high in Earth's sky and produces less in cloudy conditions, or when the Sun is low in the sky. The Sun is lower in the sky in the winter. Several factors affect a cell's conversion efficiency, including its reflectance, thermodynamic efficiency, charge carrier separation efficiency, charge carrier collection efficiency and conduction efficiency values. Because these parameters can be difficult to measure directly, other parameters are measured instead, including quantum efficiency, open-circuit voltage (VOC) ratio, and 禮 Fill factor. Reflectance losses are accounted for by the quantum efficiency value, as they affect external quantum efficiency.
Deep Insight for Energy Systems Transformation up to 2060
An energy transition (or energy system transformation) is a major structural change to energy supply and consumption in an energy system. Currently, a transition to sustainable energy is underway to limit climate change. Most of the sustain-able energy is renewable energy. Therefore, another term for energy transition is renewable energy transition. The current transition aims to reduce green-house gas emissions from energy quickly and sustainably, mostly by phasing-down fossil fuels and changing as many processes as possible to operate on low carbon electricity. A previous energy transition perhaps took place during the Industrial Revolution from 1760 onwards, from wood and other biomass to coal, followed by oil and later natural gas. After the 1973 oil crisis, the term energy transition was coined by politicians and media. It was popularized by US President Jimmy Carter in his 1977 Address on the Nation on Energy, calling to "look back into history to understand our energy problem".
Other Networks
Other Networks is writer and researcher Lori Emerson's index of telecommunications networks that existed before and outside of the internet. The internet as we know it is not a foregone conclusion. Indeed, the present corporatized, monolithic, surveilled state of our networked communications is just one possibility out of many, and there is radical promise in uncovering hidden alternatives: from pirate radio to barbed wire telegraph, from synthesizers transmitted over the telephone to encoded messages bounced off the surface of the moon. Other Networks is writer and researcher Lori Emerson's speculative index of communications networks that existed before or outside of the internet: digital as well as analog, IRL as well as imagined, state-sponsored systems of control as well as homebrew communities in the footnotes of hacker culture. Featuring explanatory descriptions of each network, archival images, and original artwork and design by Robert Beatty, Other Networks documents historically alternative networks with a particular eye towards their experimental usage by artists and writers. The result is a boldly creative taxonomy of our networked world, a liberatory sourcebook for readers eager to escape the hegemony of technological history, and a lovingly designed guide to the freedoms and communal possibilities that have been lost along the way.
Solar Panel Performance
The Impact of Water and Cleaning Agents" delves into the critical challenge of maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) panel performance in the face of dust accumulation, which significantly reduces power output. The book highlights the necessity of regular cleaning to sustain high productivity, focusing on two primary methods: water-based cleaning and surfactant-based cleaning. Through experimental investigations conducted over three months, the study compares the efficiency of unwashed panels, water-cleaned panels, and surfactant-cleaned panels. The findings reveal that unwashed panels experience a steep decline in efficiency, while water-based cleaning slows this decline. However, surfactant-based cleaning proves to be the most effective, maintaining consistent efficiency and yielding the highest power output. The study demonstrates that surfactant-washed panels generate significantly more energy compared to both unwashed and water-cleaned systems, with minimal additional cost.

Ultrasound Image Enhancement Using Intelligent Water Drops (Iwd)
Intelligent Water Drops algorithm or the IWD algorithm is a swarm-based nature-inspired optimization algorithm. This algorithm contains a few essential elements of natural water drops and actions and reactions that occur between river's bed and the water drops that flow within. The IWD algorithm may fall into the category of Swarm intelligence and Meta-heuristic. Intrinsically, the IWD algorithm can be used for combinatorial optimization. However, it may be adapted for continuous optimization too. The IWD was first introduced for the traveling salesman problem in 2007. Since then, multitude of researchers has focused on improving the algorithm for different problemsAlmost every IWD algorithm is composed of two parts: a graph that plays the role of distributed memory on which soils of different edges are preserved, and the moving part of the IWD algorithm, which is a few number of intelligent water drops. These Intelligent Water Drops (IWDs) both compete and cooperate to find better solutions and by changing soils of the graph, the paths to better solutions become more reachable. It is mentioned that the IWD-based algorithms need at least two IWDs to work.
